Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Wildhare carried a heavy rabbit in his jaws into the camp. His paws ached with tiredness when he dropped it into the measly pile of fresh-kill. Greencough had knocked most of FallClan's warriors into the isolated section of the camp where the infected stayed. He had already been hunting twice; once just as dawn had arrived and another time when the sun was highest. Now, as the sun started to fall, he thought to go hunting again. A few warriors were grouped outside of their den. He padded over towards them, hoping they weren't as tired as he was.
Fawnheart was among them and welcomed Wildhare with a warm smile. "Good evening, Wildhare." she purred. Her eyes held the truth behind how tired she was though she did her best to hide it.
Fawnheart's warm greeting seeped some of the exhaustion from the striped-tom's paws. His amber eyes showed his emotions so easily, and with a blink he hoped it had been washed away. "Good evening," he said, returning the greeting. The sky was on fire with bright orange light as the sun sunk lower and lower. "It's getting a little late, but I was wanting to go hunting some more." he said waiting for the she-cat's reply. "I know medicine cats don't go hunting.. but I just thought I'd might ask." he added, his voice barely quivering. An icy feeling spread across his chest as he waited for what the sleek she-cat would say next.
"Well, I'm not really a medicine cat anymore" the pretty cream somali responded, a hint of sorrow in her amber eyes. Though, the sorrow disappeared as quickly as it came, no more than a flash. She missed her old life but she reminded herself every day that sometimes fate puts a cat on a path whether they choose it or not. And fate had certainly put her on a much different path than what she was used to. However, she accepted it and Thrushstar had been more than generous to allow her to join them. Ever since she arrived, she had been working her tail off to prove her worth and to pay back any debt she felt she owed to the clan for taking her in. "I will join you on a hunt if you want" she smiled, her eyes warm. "Not sure how good I will be, though." She twitched her whiskers in amusement. Foxfoot had been training her in hunting and she has felt that she has gotten a little better at it.
Wildhare nodded excitedly. "I thought you were helping Softpelt with the Greencough outbreak?" he asked as he started to pad towards the camp entrance.
"Ive been doing a little bit of both" she answered as she followed him. "Right now, most of them are resting. Though, if I see any useful herbs while we are out, I will probably bring some back. Softpelt has been having me stay with the warriors so I dont catch it"
The striped tom padded on, nodding attentively. He didn't know anything about herbs, and he rather keep it that way. He might be able to pick up a few things from Softpelt or Fawnheart, but he didn't trust himself to remember it all. He knew StarClan had chose them for a reason. "That's a good idea, though it seems to be releasing it's grasp on our clan." he said with a weary sigh. "It's been hard keeping up with the patrols with only half of our warriors."
"Yes, it is finally releasing" she answered with a breath of relief. "It has been hard but we have made it through" she smiled, proud to be part of Fallclan. They stayed strong and faced hardships together. That was what a real clan was.
Wildhare dared to compliment the she-cat, "I really appreciate you helping. I'm sure all the warriors do. With Softpelt and the patrols. It helps having an extra paw." he said, his tail flicking back and forth with nervousness. He hoped it wouldn't offend her; he knew her and Foxfoot showed affection to each other, but he couldn't stop the words tumbling from his mouth.
"Its not a problem" she purred. "Its the least I can do for all of you showing me kindness and welcoming me in when I wasn't wanted anymore in my old clan." She missed being a medicine cat; deeply. However, she wasn't sure if she would ever return to her own clan. Not since they made her leave. Even her own close friend, Cardinalheart. When he didn't do anything to talk Eternalstar out of making her leave, she became salty toward him and had refused to acknowledge him as her friend anymore. Now, she had Foxfoot and Wildhare, her two closest friends. Even though she wanted Foxfoot as more than a friend, she feared she had come on too strong. He had been spending less and less time with her which made her worry. Although he still treated her with the same kindness as he always had, he never was around anymore. Wildhare had become a closer friend and she enjoyed his company.
He nodded. "Thrushstar is forgiving," Sometimes too forgiving.. he added in his mind. "He is a merciful leader. It wasn't your fault that you had to leave, right?" he asked.
"Eternalstar asked me to come here and help Softpelt with the green cough outbreak." she explained as they walked. "Then I found out she had done that to get rid of me. She replaced me with someone else and refused to allow me back into Springclan."
Wildhare widened his amber eyes. "That's crazy.." he mewed to himself. "I've never heard of a leader doing that." he shook his head. He wondered why a leader would do that, when a medicine cat should be the cat she is closest to. They could help her interpret signs from StarClan and make important decisions for that Clan. "I'm so sorry that happened to you. I'm glad you were able to find yourself a place here in FallClan."
He shook his head. "No. Your purpose in the Clan is to cure and heal, sure, but what about the kits that come into the nursery with greencough, or the elders with aching joints?" he shook his head once more, unbelieving of Eternalstar's words. He knew there was more to Fawnheart that just coddling or curing. "Here's some herbs, go on your way." he said, trotting across the camp like he was some mighty leader. "No." he said plainly. "You're more than that. You've proved it just the few moons you've been here."
She perked her ears at his words and then a beautiful smile crossed her lips. "Thanks" she purred, feeling warm over his compliment that she was more than what Eternalstar made her think she was. She followed Wildhare, her medium length cream silky fur danced as she padded after him. Her amber eyes glimmered in the sunlight, her pawsteps silent.
Wildhare couldn't but to admire how her silent her pawsteps were, despite her beautiful fur swishing across the forest ground. A leaf started to fall in front of the tom, pulling his attention away from Fawnheart. Suddenly a kit-like pushed him to pounce on top of it, flying its brittle pieces across the ground. As greenleaf started to take its way in front of newleaf, the old leaves from the previous leafbare would soon be completely gone.
She twitched her whiskers in amusement as Wildhare pounced on a falling leaf. "I don't think that leaf saw you coming" she teased. She admired Wildhare's childish personality. It made him more fun to be around. A leaf fluttered down and landed on her nose. She blew it off and then batted at it as it fell to the ground. "You know, there is something that I have always wanted to do but never have..."
