Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
To most, having a sibling mentoring another sibling made very little sense. Rorke and Lightpaw had been apart of the same litter, but Rorke was no normal cat. He was an ancient, sent by the Sun God to mentor Lightpaw on her ultimate mission, to end Foxstar.
While she had no memories of her previous life, Rorke remembered his countless ones. He had first been born in the time of lions, the first cat to teach cats about the Sun God. The founder of SunClan. The Sun God even liked to take the form of Rorke from time to time.
It was time for Lightpaw to learn about her true mission, and to begin training for the difficult task that lied before her "Lightpaw, ready to start our training" a deep purr rumbling in his throat.
Lightpaw knew she was different. She was no fool, and there had always been a feeling that there was something off about her, that while other cats were normal, she simply wasn't. Her twin siblings had never felt the same, and she hadn't dared ask Rorke, Sydney, and Kaelen, because any cat could see plain as day they were different. Lusterpaw had suggested to her that she was simply thinking of their birth and the tragic circumstances surrounding, that Lightpaw only felt different because of that... but she knew better. She was near certain, and having her own brother as a mentor only confirmed it.
The slender jet black feline met her brother's gaze and nodded once, solemnly, before rising to follow him.
Even though he had once roamed these lands long ago, everything seemed different. Perhaps time had changed the landscape, or perhaps it was because he was in a young body. Only half the size the massive tom would become as he continued to grow. He led the way to the far reaches of the boarder and beyond, the scent lines meaning little to him. He finally slowed as they neared a pond, the sound of frogs croaking filling the air. A place where their words would not be heard
"This must seem odd to you, to have your brother searve as your mentor. I believe you are finally old enough to understand and be told the truth. You see Lightpaw, you are not a normal cat, and neither am I... but you already knew that. Yes?"
This was longer than she'd ever had to walk before, when she was confined to the camp. He was already bigger than her, his strides longer, and he had walked this world before; everything was new and massive and unending to her eyes. She took it all in with quiet, sweeping glances, and she did not complain once, even as she struggled to keep up over the rougher patches of terrain, and her paws ached from the journey. If he could make it, so could she; she was an apprentice now and she wouldn't give up so easily.
It was strange, to hear someone else acknowledge her thoughts. She knew they were not normal, but to hear her brother say it made it all that much sharper, that much more real. Minutely, she nodded. "You and Sidney and Kaelen... well, you'd have to be blind not to see you're not like us other three."
His warm laughter filled the air "Blind or stupid". It didn't take a genius to see how the three of them looked nothing alike. He was a massive main coon, his long locks flowing making him look even larger. Gold glimmered through his cream pelt, everything about him made him look powerful.
"I suppose we should start with who I am. You know me only as your brother, but this is not my first life. I have lived many lives, the Sun God brings me back to serve him when the need arises. My new body may be the same age as yours, but my soul is older. Much older"
If it was anyone else, she might have laughed. It sounded ridiculous, and yet, it was easy to believe. He was not like them, he acted more mature even when they were far too young, and it matched the strange feeling in her chest, the certainty that their family was wrong somehow. Lightpaw nodded, slowly, accepting what she was told. It was easy to believe such a strange brother of hers could be something more. "Why? Why are you here now?"
"I am here to share my experience and wisdom with you, to guide you on the path that the Sun God has set before you. Just as I was sent here to guide you, Sydney and Kaelean have been sent to guide you siblings Yes we are special, but so are you" he leaned forward allowing the tip of his tail to tickle the apprentice's nose.
"This is not your first life either, and the Sun God has saw it fit to bring you and your siblings back into this world. You have a missions to complete, and it is my job to assisit you with this task"
Lightpaw jerked back immediately. This was much harder to believe. She'd always felt a little off, but how could this not be her first life? What did that mean? She shook her head, slowly at first, then quicker as she looked sharply up at her brother.
"I'm not. I don't have any memories." If she had been brought back like him, wouldn't she know it? Wouldn't she feel the ancient wisdom in her paws?
Rorke chuckled, not surprised by her reaction. "Your memories will come with time, for the Sun God has hidden them away until you are ready to remember. Your life before this one came to a tragic end, and part or your role here will be to unravel the mysteries of who you were and why you have been brought back to SunClan" he paused knowing that all of this was a lot to take in. She wouldn't believe it, not yet anyway. But as her memories began to return to her, she would slowly begin to realize the truth of his words.
"Until such a time, I shall get you ready. I will train both your body, mind, and soul"
"Why can't you just tell me?" Crowpaw studied Rorke with a frown. It would be much easier if he could just tell her what she needed to know, who she was and what tragic end she had met, and then maybe she could be normal. No, not normal; never that, she knew that now if she didn't before. If there was any truth to what her brother said she would never be like the other cats and she would never fit in with them. She sighed heavily. There was nothing new there.
"Even if I told you everything right now, you wouldn't believe it. Doubt would plague your mind, only leading to questions that even I could not answer. There are some things that you must discover on your own, truths that you will not believe unless you come to the conclusion on your own"
"THe journey ahead of you is a long one. You must be ready, in both body and mind. We will start by training your body. The opponet that you face is skilled, and is not above fighting dirty. You will need to be at peak physical condition, and to have many tools at your disposal."
