Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Labyrinthiansoul was old. He had faced many different ages in SummerClan. He had fought many battles. He had dealt with many annoying pests that for some reason really enjoyed being glued to his backside. (He wasn't pointing at anyone or dropping any names, he really wasn't, but Tybalt was a thorn in his side for many a moon and sometimes he still dreamed of skinning him.) His most favorite era, however, happened to be the one that had caused him the most grief. When he was deputy of SummerClan, all those ages ago – he felt his chin fat sag just thinking about it – he thought he could get away with anything. That only increased when he became leader. He had all the power he needed to influence anyone to do anything he wanted. That was the result with his apprentice, Angelpaw.
When she became a warrior, he wondered if she'd say anything. Angelrhapsody. He could still hear the clan chanting and her eyes on his pelt, boring into him. But she'd kept her mouth shut and he continued to live in peace.
Then she became leader. Angelstar. He sneered at the memory. She still kept her lips sewed shut, thankfully, but she'd turned his son against him. His only blood. It had angered him beyond belief and frequently he envisioned many awful things. Yet he stayed his hand and continued his duties, even as she continued to pile them atop him. As a result he spent more time away from camp than he did within it. He assumed that was her plan, though, as she quickly got pregnant and settled down. He smirked as he padded through the territory.
Now she was long gone and he was absolutely relieved. He had his family back – his son still couldn't stand him but he was working on that – and he was able to move throughout the territory without being afraid that ninjas were going to pop up and try to assassinate him. But now there was a new problem: Narcolepsy. Or what looked like infectious narcolepsy. Cats kept dropping passed out, their butts high in the air. He would've thought it a primal dance if not for the way they obnoxiously snored and twitched. Everyone else thought it was some horrible thing that needed to be solved right away. He, personally, struggled each time not to burst out in laughter. But he needed to maintain the loyalty of everyone around him, including their leader, Ravenstar.
Who he admittedly knew nothing about. But he wanted to get to know her. She seemed like she had secrets just underneath her pelt, crawling around like contaminated insects. Thus he set up this little date. He'd asked her to meet him in exactly this place, he thought as he sat down on a log, at this exact time in order to spend time together. It was a date. No one else could convince him. He lifted a paw, licked it and smoothed down the fur on his head.

if Ravenstar said she wasn't surprised by Labrynthiansoul's invitation to "hang out" and get to know one another, then she would be lying. It was odd and, quite frankly, unprecedented. She remembered his leadership as she had been found unconscious in Summerclan's territory during his reign and made an apprentice not long after. She wasn't sure if he realized who she was, if he realized she was that blood soaked kit from so many seasons ago who had just barely escaped those cats and found herself here in the clans. While the clans found abandoned kits quite frequently, it wasn't often to find lone kits half starved and covered in blood that was not their own. It had been towards the end of his reign and Angelstar had been made leader not long afterwards, overlooking a kit who already knew how to fight much more than many of her peers, but the cat known as Rana was long gone, left behind by the newly named Ravenstone.
As the sleek black she-cat entered the specified meeting point she quickly noticed Labrynthiansoul lazing about as he groomed himself on a nearby log. "What a wonderful green leaf afternoon it is, don't you think?" She greeted him with a smooth and even voice, her grey eyes watching him carefully. She was naturally suspicious these days as her naming ceremony most certainly had not gone as planned. She saw shadows everywhere she looked and only cats that wished to see her gone or dead.
Turning his head at the sound of her voice, he cleared his throat with a smile and placed his paw back down with its match. Leaping gracefully from the log, he padded to meet her. "Indeed." He wanted to express his distaste for such trivial conversation topics – you're talking to me about the weather, really? – but he understood his discomfort. He had quite the reputation; she would feel uneasy with him and he, honestly, with her. It had been a long time since he'd done this. The diplomacy, the political formality, the respect when internally everything he thought was completely disrespectful. Although, so far, everything he thought about Ravenstar was... terribly blasé. He had witnessed four different felines take the throne after he had resigned and each one was just like the last. Her history had been different, yes; he remembered her arrival vividly. But as for who she was as a person, especially now... he wasn't impressed. But perhaps that would change the more they spent time together. Maybe.
"Would you care to walk with me?" His tail curled as if to invite her to his side.

"I would be honored." The black she-cat replied in a humble manner. Ravenstar did not know much about Labrynthiansoul other than he was a leader many seasons ago, she saw the end of his reign, and he was not always looked upon with favor. She did not know truly the scope of what he had done, just that many held disdain for him for a long time which told the she-cat something about him. He was likely very political which meant that the words coming out of his mouth would not be the words passing through his mind and that made her tense and uncomfortable. Despite this, she gave the appearance of looking calm and relaxed with her emotions guarded closely so that her grey eyes would reveal nothing.
"How is your life as leader faring?" He glanced at her from the corner of his eye, leading them aimlessly throughout the territory. The best adventures were started without a heading. "From my memory – which I admit is already failing – my experience was quite stressful. I suppose, however, with your reputation already rather accepted and your story arc one less... macabre, you've been a suitable leader for the clan as of late. I presume that's been beneficial for the clan." He wiggled his lower jaw and chuckled. "Although, I will admit I prefer more fun."

She listened carefully, thinking deeply as he spoke and taking a beat to form her words as he finished before opening her own mouth. "Quite frankly, I have been a deputy my entire adult life. I was hardly a warrior for a moon before become Angelstar's co-deputy so this is the only life I have come to know. I like certain kinds of fun but... after being through a drought, poisoning, starvation, and now these nightmares, I'm not so sure how i feel about fun." It was an honest and firm response. He didn't have the greatest reputation, as he attested to, but her only reputation was that in a position where she expected to lead and guide others.
His skin prickled at the former leader's name. It had been quite some time since he had heard her mentioned; after all, many often moved on after some time once someone new picked up the crown and ever so hungrily placed it upon their skull. The last to do this, before Ravenstar, was Froststar. He smirked inwardly. That was an interesting chain of events, undoubtedly so. Glancing at the she-cat beside hm as she continued to speak, he blinked golden-green eyes. "I can understand your unwillingness to throw the clan back into the current and see what mayhem's stirred up. We've definitely been through trying times. Though that's the way of life, is it not? What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, blah blah blah."

"I think that's all a bunch of fox dung, if you don't mind me being so brazen. I watched those trying times break many cats, not make them stronger." She couldn't help but wonder which of the two he was. Through this all, she lost her mate, all but one of her kits, many friends, and many clanmates. Now, they were left with a wreck of a clan who still mourned their lost families and companions and they all pretended to be fine but she knew better. Many cats chose to ignore the past and pretend like it happened, but in her opinion that was what broke the cats instead of accepting it happened and remembering it happened. "I suppose some cats are stronger for it, but that saying is dirt waiting to be unburied."
He smirked, eyes sliding to her form beside him. Perhaps she was more interesting than he gave her credit for. She didn't submissively agree with him or keep her mouth shut in worry of possibly disrespecting him; she spoke her mind and she did it fiercely. He found it refreshing and the barriers of his mind slowly began to tear themselves down. "And you?" He wondered with a rumble. "Are you stronger for it? Or do you find yourself... emotionally compromised?"

"I'd like to say I'm stronger, sure, but I would do that at the risk of forcing myself int being a liar." She only expressed this to him honestly as he was a previous leader of Summerclan and one of her senior warriors, if not for that she may have lied and simply said yes for the sake of not looking weak as a leader, but sometimes she was oh so very tired of doing that. "I wouldn't call myself emotionally compromised but there are things I regret. As a mother, losing my kits was hard for me. I have one remaining and if I wasn't a stronger and more protective mother than before, I would also be lying."
He tilted his head, intrigued by her honesty. This, too, was refreshing; he was plenty used to groveling. It hadn't changed since he had stepped down from leadership; he was a respected member of the clan, even though there were still some who found they'd rather drive his face into the ground than respectfully greet it. "I have found myself... 'blessed' with children. Though I admit I do not have the same relationship with them than you did with yours. I imagine it was quite difficult." He blinked and turned back to the path they were on. They were nearing the border. "And what's your opinion on this... current outbreak?" He looked at her. "Your honest perspective."

A dark look passed over her expression at his words. "I have reason to believe we have been cursed and it will only get worse. Cats are terrified and no one knows what may happen while we sleep. I can't say I am happy about it or that I welcome it. My honest perspective is that soon we will know our true allies." There was a low growl built up in her throat. She was not sure if this was sent by the Dark Forest or Starclan but something in her just knew they were cursed.
The orange tabby raised an eyebrow. He thought it was a bunch of hogwash. He had also grown up in the city, however, where they were aware of more than the clan cats it seemed. Ravenstar was, surprisingly, a very spiritual feline; he hadn’t expected that of her. “Cursed?” He hummed over it in thought. “Well. What do you plan to do about it?”

"Greythorn and I will look to Starclan for answers." Ravenstar had not believed in Starclan for a long time when she arrived in the clans but had slowly grown fond of the stories and ideals she was told over time. It was not until she had actually traveled to the moon creek with Angelstar in her deputyship that she truly believed what she had been told, it was even harder to be skeptical when she had communed with the dead that she had once known and even the dead whom she had birthed herself into this world. "If they have cursed us... then we will no longer look to them for guidance." She decided firmly. It was hard to believe that Starclan would do such a thing but if they had then she would certainly never forgive them for how they terrorized her clan.
Both eyebrows raised at this point. "That's quite a sudden decision. Are you sure you've thought that through? If StarClan has cursed us it can surely only be for good reason. Are you so certain spiting them for it is such a good comeback? They are all powerful and you are merely a feline upon this earth with a limited lifespan. Well," he amended his statement with a chuckle, "a few." He tilted his head. "Your brain is fascinating." He 'hmm'ed and continued on their walk. "And if they aren't to blame for SummerClan's current plight? What then will you do?"

She nodded. He had a point, if they weren't to blame then what would she do? "Then I will figure out who is to blame. My clan has done nothing to warrant Starclan's wrath, we have been doing everything we can to survive many long and harsh seasons. Summerclan has not known true peace for quite some time but in the long run this makes stronger warriors." Her words were firm and she did not waver on a single one. The loss of life was tragic and she would by no means minimize that but through everything that meant that only the strongest and smartest would pull through in the long wrong.
He snorted at her words. She sounded so certain of the world, as if everything was in black and white. There was a grey area, though, and she would meet it one day. "I see." He glanced at her. "Good luck to you then. In the meantime, I'll occupy myself with the endless entertainment that is our narcoleptic companions." He stopped and turned to her. "And you? Have you been feeling any symptoms?"

His question made her a bit nervous and she forced herself not to give away any signs of nervousness although her ear flicked at his words. Truthfully, she had begun to have terrible and terrorizing nightmares lately. It had not progressed so far as to be obvious or pass out suddenly anywhere but it was likely only a matter of time until that happened unless they figured out how to stop it. "No, fortunately it seems I am one of the lucky ones so far." The lie slid off of her tongue much easier than she was comfortable with but until she talked to Graythorn, Tuskblood, ad Fogeye, she was not comfortable relaying this information to even her senior warriors.
The orange tabby’s eyebrow raised, detecting the lie but seeing the wisdom in keeping his challenge silent– for now. Instead he nodded. “Very good. I don’t believe we can sacrifice our figurehead; would not everything topple like an unsteady house of twigs if it were the case?” He smiled a bit, continuing to walk.
