Darkcomplex had heard about the battle plans. Well. The tom couldn't claim to be thrilled. After all, his own kits had been the ones used as pawns, passed off as his for Foxstar's gain, and now some of them resided in the Regime. Truly, he wasn't certain what to do. He doubted he'd get much sympathy from the Sun God, or he'd get sympathy, but be told there was nothing that could be done. With a frustrated huff, the tom kicked a rock with his paw, sending it flying into the lake. It skipped a couple of times before sinking. With the warmer weather, the lake had finally thawed out, and now cats would soon begin to trek by it more often. Some might even dare to swim or hunt in the waters.

Littlebird spotted Darkcomplex sitting by himself, a forlorn expression upon his face. He had had a difficult time lately, and he had been used over and over again by Foxstar. It didn't exactly seem fair to Littlebird, but she also knew that Foxstar would do whatever suited her without much care of how it impacted others. Honestly Littlebird was probably one of the last cats that Darkcomplex would wish to speak to, but she came over anyway "Tomorrow will be hard for you.." she commented, taking a seat nearby. She couldn't imagine having to face one of her children in battle, knowing that it would tear her apart from the inside out.

"I would like to be exempt from the battle party." He answered bluntly. The tom knew it was her place to support Foxstar, but she had kits. She knew how impossible it was to expect him to fight against his own kits. Maybe he could avoid them, but he wasn't going to hide the fact he'd rather keep camp safe than risk hurting his kits, no matter if they were enemies of SunClan or not. Especially not while this was still so fresh in his mind. How could he go to war confident in following Foxstar who had done nothing except hurt him in her quest for strong kits?

"I understand" she replied, and she did. At least she did far more than many of the other cats within the clan. If she had been in Foxstar's position, she would have done just that. It would be difficult enough staying out of the battle, wondering what was happening to his kits.. .but to be forced to fight them? It was placing him in an impossible position. "If it was my decision to make, you would have nothing to do with the upcoming battle. However, you know as well as I that it is Foxstar who will make the decision in the end. All I can promise is to try" She wrapped her tail around herself glancing over at Lionpaw and Fernpaw practicing the moves their mentors had showed them during their first training session. They were close to the same age as his children, making her even more sympathetic to his plight. Most of the time Foxstar would at least consider her advice, but she wan't sure how much she would this time... She wasn't thinking very clearly, or seeing reason. She wanted revenge, and there wasn't much that was going to stand in her way.
"That is all I can ask, I suppose. Though I doubt she'd drag me if I refused." Darkcomplex gave a wan smile, knowing as well as Littlebird that refusing a direct order was treason. "If I thought I could convince her, I'd advise against an attack at all. I don't know much about the Regime, but any group that has a cat that can take Foxstar by surprise isn't one that will be easy to defeat. Especially not when we're invading their territory." Perhaps he was angry at Foxstar, but there were still cats he cared for in SunClan. Cats like Littlebird, who had been nothing but kind to him. This was a dangerous fight, and though the Sun God hadn't said anything against it, he couldn't help but feel this was a mistake.

Littlebird couldn't help but smile, knowing full well that a refusal was out of the question. If he intended to do so, he would face a fate worse than being dragged into battle against his children. A fate, that they had both witnessed in the not so distant past. "Foxstar has already decided upon attacking the regime, and the Sun God has not spoken in opposition. It is our duty to support her decision, no matter our personal feelings on the matter" Even though she agreed with Darkcomplex, she would not openly speak against Foxstar's decision. Littlebird had shared he concerns with the priestess, and she could not be persuaded. All that she could do at this point was do her best to support Foxstar and minimize the damage to SunClan through careful planning. "The regime will be a difficult opponet, but with the Sun God's guidance, I'm sure that we will be victorious" her statement was true, but at what cost? How many would have to die in a needless battle.

"If there's one thing I've learned, it's not to underestimate the beliefs of those you don't know." Darkcomplex commented. He was a former initiate, had his eyes opened to the Sun God and SunClan's way of life. It stood to reason that these other cats could have beings with their own strength. Even if it wasn't enough to beat SunClan into submission, such beliefs held power, enough to spur cats on to greater feats than originally thought. "I just hope that Foxstar hasn't underestimated her opponent." He loved his kits, and didn't want to see them hurt. At the same time, the majority of SunClan were his family. He had no desire to see them injured or dead either, particularly those who still held kind and caring hearts.

So did she... If she could only admit it to herself, she had a lot of doubts about the upcoming battle. It seemed necessary and rushed. Foxstar was not calm about this battle the way she had been about the others in the past. Littlebird couldn't help but feel a nagging suspicion that something was wrong. However, she was the Priestess Promised and she held her own doubts close to her heart. She needed to support Foxstar the best she could, and make plans in case things didn't go the way Foxstar had planned. She would not publicly declare her own reservations "I have faith in our priestess and the Sun God to get use through this battle. She has won many a battles, and Dragonswrath also has given us much to think about. Foxstar has hear our counsel, and decided to proceed"
Darkcomplex's tail twitched in defeat. Littlebird, no matter how she felt, would never disagree openly with Foxstar, if her scripted reply told him anything. It saddened him, that they were all expected to do as she asked without question or challenge, all because their deity hadn't outwardly given them a sign to stay home. Not that he could change anything. "I can only hope that is enough." He finished simply, letting that conversation die. They would get nowhere beyond that, though he didn't hesitate to admit he felt they were making a mistake. The Regime would be expecting retaliation, if not now, then in the future. That alone could turn the tides of a war.
