Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. His tail flicked back and forth as the stocky apprentice looked over the fresh-kill pile. There wasn't much there, but he was regardless having a hard time deciding what he was craving. He didn't show any sign of coming to that decision any time soon as another cat approached the pile beside him. He glanced over towards his Clanmate, but as they began reaching for a piece of prey he suddenly darted his paw forwards to snatch up the exact piece they were aiming for. He had in fact decided, finally, that this was the prey he wanted, but his decision was mostly driven in order to subtly enforce his dominance. He got first pick because he was the son of a former leader. And as he pulled his chosen morsel towards himself he meowed a gruff, "Excuse me," before picking it up in his teeth. Just in case they decided to try to take it from him. An obviously foolish endeavor, but one he couldn't rule out any of his Clanmates attempting.
Glacierpaw was starving, and I mean, starving. Her legs moved fluidly underneath her as her muscles ached and roared, a long day of training having drained her from any energy left within her bones. And yet, here she was, hurrying back to camp and wheezing along the way. Her mentor, Sunhawk, worked her to the core today; she would definitely have a restful sleep tonight. As she reached camp, her eyes gazed over to the fresh-kill pile, and her stomach growled involuntarily. With her mouth watering, she approached said pile, staring into it's abyss of food. Noticing a plumb rabbit, all still in tact, she began to reach for it with her teeth, yet someone else decided to get the best of her and snatch it right from underneath her. "Excuse me?" She began, lifting her stone cold glare and settling it onto the other. "Excuse you!" She hissed, swatting the rabbit out of his grasp and diving for it. She hovered over it protectively, staring down the tom as if to challenge her. They both would certainly get in trouble should they fight, but did she care? No.
He instinctively recoiled back from the swipe, a growl rumbling in his throat as he turned back to watch her try to keep him from prey that was rightly his. He grabbed it first. Ancientpaw's fur fluffed out instinctively, the tom baring his teeth as he growled, "I think you should give that back. There's plenty more prey for you to pick from there." His tail flicked towards the pile to emphasize his point, despite the fact that there didn't seem to be much left that compared to the rabbit before he went on. "You don't want to end up getting hurt over a rabbit." His voice had dropped to a threatening rumble, just loud enough for Glacierpaw to hear. His claws unsheathed to back up his rather clear threat. He took a step towards her with his ears turning back against his head, adding, "Just back off. Or you'll regret taking my prey."
Glacierpaw suddenly got confident - overly confident - that she could very well take this fool down. By the looks of it, she was more muscular than him, and probably a moon or two older, which means she was farther in her training. Well, at least, she hoped - she was nine moons old, and only three moons away from being made a warrior. It was so close that she could taste it. "I'm not giving anything back," She replied in a hiss, tail lashing out behind her in anger. "I'm not the one that'll be getting hurt, you mouse-brained fool! Besides, I saw it first, so it's mine. You obviously took it right from underneath me. Besides, if I remember right, Bearshadow caught this hare, so therefore it's not even yours to begin with."
His tail gave an irritated twitch, the edge of his mouth curling enough to show his teeth. He didn't need to take this sort of attitude from any cat. Least of all some apprentice (ignoring the fact that he was still an apprentice as well). He was better than her, of course. She just must not realize that. "If we're going by who saw it first, neither of us would get it. But since I grabbed it first, then it rightfully belongs to me." He let out an annoyed hiss, adding, "If Bearshadow caught it then it isn't yours either. But then, only a mouse-brained rogue would think who caught it changes who the prey belongs to. It belongs to the Clan, and all that decides who eats it is who gets to it first. As any reasonable cat could see I got to it before you." The word 'rogue' was used intentionally, a subtle jab in an attempt to both rile up and assert some sort of dominance over Glacierpaw. After all, he knew she wasn't WinterClan-born. However, he was of WinterClan blood. Right down to the last drop.
