Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Perhaps he should listen to his friend more often than he did. Perhaps he was foolish. Though he couldn't stop his paws from aching to experience every little thing there was to experience. He was frail, yes, but that wouldn't stop him from anything. Stagstumble felt wind streaking through his fur and stripping him down to the bone, felt his paws kick up bouts of dust and pebbles, felt his chest ready to explode. But he didn't stop. Not even for the stinging in his pads.
His skinny creamy white marked body only began to lessen with momentum when he neared the neighboring border. He felt short of breath and slightly weak. But he couldn't find it in him to regret anything, even as a bought of coughing exploded from his maw. He knew he wasn't the healthiest of cats, and he knew it could be fatal if he exceeded his limits. But he wore a content expression nevertheless and sat down as his breathing became steady. Once the coughing ceased and he didn't feel as if his chest were on fire, he let his eyes wander the clearing. If he'd have run any further, he might of crossed the border. But he hadn't, and he wouldn't. That didn't stop a burning curiosity from growing in his chest, though.

"Try rubbing your chest if you feel short of breath. I can help open the airways." Vocalriver rasped as she appeared out of seemingly nowhere. She may be considered an elder now, she by Starclan she would not stay cooped up in that camp all the time by herself. "I may not be a medicine cat anymore, but I still have my mind." She grunted, sitting near the warrior with her green eyes fixed across the border. There was an unspoken question that any clanmate would hace at a place like this - why are you here?
The older tom chuckled in response, his eyes twinkling with amusement as he regarded her before heading her advice and rubbing at his chest with his good paw. His eyes wandering back out to the territory, he flicked his stump tail and said, "To answer your unasked question, I guess its just habit for me to wander to the SummerClan border." His pale eyes drew to the colorful scenery, hidden by the smaller ridges and cliffs of FallClan's perfect haven. It was already spring where they were; no doubt it would hit them a bit slower. "My father was actually an old SummerClan Medicine Cat... funnily enough I was named exactly after him. I guess I always wonder why he left his position and his Clan, to be with my mother, and to have me."

"Mm." She responded quietly, nodding her head thoughtfully as her pale green eyes narrowed into slits whilst looking over into the Summerclan territory. "Being a medicine cat has its rewards but some of us end up making a decision of what we are and aren't willing to sacrifice. I gave up my kits to their father and let him raise them. They did not find out until after I had grandkits and I stepped down to try and be their mother, even if it's too late. I don't regret my decision and something tells me your father doesn't regret his either." She was rather forthcoming with this story, after all she had stepped down due to the scandal it had caused among her clanmates so most of them already knew about it anyways.
He glanced at her in feigned surprise; he was really bad at keeping up with Clan gossip and whatnot. He was never really one for it anyways. With a small smile he hummed, "I guess your probably right," before letting his paw fall from his chest and land comfortably against the forest floor. "I don't really know. Love must make somecats do crazy things; I wouldn't know because I've never been lucky enough."
With another smaller glance at Vocalriver, he added, "And its good to hear about your kits. That your trying to be there for them — I think that's something that is incredibly admirable given the circumstances."

A far away look grossed her pale green eyes and a sadness hung over her. "I've tried," she said in a low voice which was unlike her. Not long after her stepping down, one of them had been found brutally murdered and over time one after the other they disappeared. Only one of her kits remained alive and he wanted nothing to do with her but at least her one remaining grandkit did not scorn her.
"Love is a strange and powerful force. Many of us do crazy things while we are young in the name of love. I was not exception."
He glanced at her, a worried expression crossing his pallid features. He hadn't meant to bring up any painful memories; especially if it was distressing her. And he had never really been great at comforting others, either, when they needed it the most. Hesitantly, he said, "I'm... very sorry to hear that. I can't imagine what that must have been like. But for what its worth, I'm glad your here."
Stagstumble flicked an ear awkwardly, not entirely knowing what else to say. He really couldn't put himself in her paws — no parents, no kits of his own. As if in afterthought, he said clumsily, "I fell in love with someone, once. He had a daughter, and I grew very close with them. But I never ended up facing my feelings, stupidly enough. They left my life soon after. I think... I was close to having something like a family. But that was a long time ago, and honestly, I've even forgotten what their faces looked like."

She nodded, her green eyes staring forward at something no one but her could see or understand. "Mm far too often does that happen. Well, be sure you hold on to others in future, Stagstumble. You are a good warrior and everyone deserves someone to call family. Not all family is related by blood or a mate bond." She smiled at him. Somehow, growing lonely was a symptom of aging just as was her graying fur and wondering mind.
He laughed in a small breath of air, following her gaze with a slightly curious expression. "I know. It just... sometimes, it gets to be a bit much. It just really sucks to be lonely," he said with a long sigh, before giving his stumpy tail a small shake. "Sometimes I'm afraid that I've let my life slip before me too fast, without doing anything. Like I've missed my chances, you know? In the end I just feel guilty, though. I have a home, and a Clan - friends, even. Some cats don't have any of that."

She nodded in understanding. "It's good to understand what you do have and focus on that but you have to keep in mind that... you can't give cats those things and you shouldn't feel guilty for it. Instead, make good use of what you do have while you have it. Nothing is forever."
"There's definitely a lot of truth in that statement, that's for sure," Stagstumble said, nodded in agreement, and then let out a trilling sigh before glancing sideways at the she-cat and giving a small smile. "You wanna hunt or something, instead of grumbling like a bunch of old farts?" he asked, amusement playing in his expression.
