Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Venus huffed as she made her way to Post Delta. It had been a while since she had made the trip to visit her grandparents and she had thought it was about time she pay them a visit. Of course at this point in time, Venus hated going much of anywhere. Her belly was heavily swollen with tykes that would be born within the next moon. She was tired of being fussed over at Post Kilo however. This was her first litter and it was very evident that her litter was going to be quite large.
She was relieved when she finally caught sight of her grandmother and came to a halt just in front of her. "Good afternoon Scales." She dipped her head respectfully to her grandmother. "How are you feeling today?"
The days of being a veteran were rather long. Purely for the fact that they did not get much action down in their tunnels. Scales often times felt as if she were going to lose her mind. It was simply boring, compared to the life of being a scout she had lived prior.
Just as she was ready to give a rather heavy sigh, she heard her name being called and her gaze whipped around to see her granddaughter. A sudden smile flashed along her lips, all boredom entirely forgotten as if it were never there.
“Venus, dear! It’s so good to see you. I’m doing rather well, how are you?” It was clear that she was beyond excited to have a visitor.
"I'm glad to have finally made it. I don't remember the walk from Post Kilo being that long before." She sat down and wrapped her tail neatly around her paws. Honestly, this was the most Venus had been out in a long time. She had become reclusive through the time she was with Limavady. Her eyes were bright and clear once more though and while the trip here had left her short of breath, there was a clear confidence in her eyes that had not been there in a long time.
"Don't tell me Mars has stopped visiting you and grandfather." She shook her head. "He's been a bit busy as of late. I'm sure you've heard by now, but his tykes were born just last night." Venus smiled. "If any of them are half the trouble Basil was as a tyke, Momi is going to need all the help she can get." She could still remember the day her brother brought Basil, Jasmine, and Coriander to the tunnels. Though they were half kitty-pet, she could see Mars in each of them as well.
“He tries, I know. He’s a very busy cat, being commander and all.” She purred in response to Venus. Her eyes then moved to the feline’s stomach and she found herself looking back up to the She-cat’s eyes. “Venus. I have heard some disturbing rumors...” she began, wanting to simply get down to this and deminish them once and for all.
Her grandmother's comment was met with silence . Venus's smile faded almost instantly at the mention of Limavady. She didn't like talking about it, but she knew that if she didn't tell her story, Limavady was going to come up with something worse to say about her. "He's...Well Limavady never hurt me physically at least." Her ears flattened. "He manipulated me. He would always get irritated over the smallest things and then make me think it was my fault. He always made off comments about the raisers and guiders, as if the work I do for the Regime isn't important. He made me feel guilty for spending time with my friends. Everything I did was an attempt to please him, but nothing I did was ever good enough." She shook her head. "He had a way of making it seem like he was actually trying to help me, but he was chipping away at me little by little until I was a shell of my former self."
"I know that people still think I was wrong for sneaking around with Fjord like I did but...But Fjord is the one that gave me the courage to leave. He stood up for me and encouraged me. Once I started spending more time with him, things started getting better. I was able to make friends again and my confidence started to grow. Limavady was still there, but Fjord made everything better. He made me realize that I was better than what I had become." Limavady was dangerous. Honestly, Venus was afraid of him. He couldn't touch her though. She had her family at her back and an honorable reputation. Once her side of the story had come out, the others had started connecting the Pieces. "Honestly...I think Mars has been looking for a way to demote him, but he can't do so without reason." She didn't want to see the day where Limavady was the commander of the Regime. It was a frightening thought. Her brother was still young, but Limavady was treacherous. So long as he was the superior, Mars was going to have to watch his back.
Scales listened with an open heart and open ears. When Venus finishes speaking, Scales slipped forward and wrapped her tail as much as she could around her. “My dear, I’m so sorry that you had to go through this. If I had known any of this, I would have intervened.” Scales May have been old, but she was not willing to let any harm come to her family. Even if it were emotional harm.
"I'm alright now. Limavady can't bother me anymore and now that Fjord and I are mates, he doesn't have anything he can hold over my head." Venus leaned over and licked her grandmother's ear. "I'm just sorry I didn't leave him sooner. He would have been a terrible father for one thing." She then glanced down at her belly. "Speaking of the tykes, I wish they would just come already. If I get much bigger, I'm not going to be able to leave Post Kilo at all."
Scales nodded to her. It was nice to hear there was a happy ending to all the mess that had transpired.” The feline found herself smiling now, trying not to laugh. “I am surprised that the raisers have not confined you to post kilo yet already! You look as if you have at least ten tykes in there!” She joked, unaware of the irony.
"Well, they may have tried at one point, but laying around in my nest all day just makes me restless." She smiled slightly. "I feel better when I have the freedom to move around." She then shook her head. "They might scold me again when I get back though. I didn't exactly tell anyone where I was going."
“I was never content in the tunnels for long either. I wanted to explore, breathe the surface air...” Scales purred, surprised that her granddaughter was so much like herself. “It’s a wonder that you chose the profession you did. I imagined you always staying on the surface and soaking in the sun, feeling the wind in your furs.” She paused, hoping not to offend her. “You’re a wonderful raiser, though.” She added quickly.
Venus shook her head. "Honestly I don't leave the tunnels much. Well, not as much as I used to at least. I do enjoy my job though. Looking after little ones and making sure the Regime has a future is a worthwhile job." She wouldn't change anything for the world. Well... maybe except for when she decided to take that walk with Limavady that day. Things might be a little different now had she made a different decision.
“Are you excited? You look as if you’ll have quite a large litter.” She commented, eyes shining bright as she thought of visiting the little tykes when they were born. She was beyond elated. Scales could hardly believe that her family had grown so large.
