Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
( I thought maybe this could be before she got sick and he can do some training with her and get closer! )
Fawnheart blinked open her amber eyes to see Foxfoot sleeping soundly beside her. Dawn light filtered through the den, illuminating both of their soft pelts. She smiled and purred, happy to wake up to him next to her. She shook him gently with her paw, hoping to do some training today. He was her mentor after all."Foxfoot" she whispered, trying to wake him gently.
The somali tom rustled in their nest, curling his body tight and moving closer into his new clanmate. He let out a groan to her nudging, shuffling closer and closer to her in response. "Hmm.."
Amber eyes opened like slits to see Fawnheart smiling at him. He gave her a haphazard smile back, too tired to commit for a full one. "Hm.. Training..." His voice was drowsy and soft, barely even intelligible. Foxfoot was a hard riser, never really being a morning cat.
He felt himself slump as she got up as he was leaning on her body. Foxfoot stretched and began to lay straight, his head looking up at the cream she-cat. He blinked for a moment before her request registered in his head. "Training!" He whispered, not wanting to wake up the other warriors. "Yes, we can do some training today. What did you want to learn?"
"Okay. Want to meet by the creek? Lets get something to drink first." He purred, still almost half awake. She streteched once more and raised his body onto his feet. Foxfoot slowly padded out of the den towards the entrance of camp, squinting his eyes in the full sunlight.
Foxfoot stopped just a ways away from the creek. "This is a great spot to look for some vole." He smiled. "They like to nest around water but not directly next to it like quail. They like to nest and search for food around tree stumps and under large stones." Foxfoot sniffed the air and darted his gaze towards the north, upstream from the creek. "They mark their territory just like mice and squirrels. We can find them this way." He flicked his feathered red tail for Fawnheart to follow him.
The somali tom lowered his body and began to slither along the ground, stopping as soon as he saw the vole about a foxlength away. "Do you see it? Before you go for it, take in your surroundings to see where it may go if it escapes your grasp."
She crouched down beside him and scanned her surroundings just as he instructed. Voles lived near water right? Surely they could swim? "It could run into the river, cant it?" She whispered, eyes fixed on the prey in which didnt seem to notice them yet.
Foxfoot nodded. "Yes. Box it into your body and swipe hard and fast- if you can't snag it with your claws, try and whack it towards those rocks over there." He flicked his feathered tail towards a large rock formation just east of them.
She nodded and stalked closer, her paws silent, at first looking like a natural. She braced herself and launched. She fell short but instead of running into the water, it tried to flea somewhere else and Fawnheart was giving chase, zigzagging and running in circles after it, looking completely silly.
He chuckled at her attempts. While he wanted to interfere and help her, he didn't want to risk losing the prey. "Trap it into your body and bite down! If you can't grab its body, go for the tail and wack it against the ground!" He hissed just loud enough for her to hear.
She heard him and dove for the creature, just managing to grab it before tumbling to a stop. It squirmed in her jaws, trying to break free. She bit down hard and killed it. She stood up, shaking dirt from her pelt, her catch dangling from her jaws. Her eyes gleamed with pride. This was her very first catch. "I did it!" She bounced, dropping her catch as Foxfoot approached her.
He jumped up with glee and ran over to her. "That was great! A nice first catch. It's customary to always eat your first catch too- shall we dig in?" Foxfoot purred, wrapping his tail around her.
He smiled and nodded, bending down and biting into the kill. He purred as he licked the juices from his maw. "Do you want to go out and hunt more or stay here for a bit?" He asked her in between bites.
