Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Since joining the clan a quarter-moon ago, he had hardly been alone, but for once the deputy was not at his side and it felt strange. Crownglass rested quietly along the edge of the camp, uncertain how to proceed now that it was just him, eyeing nearby cats with vague apprehension as he couldn’t recognize any of them yet. The former SummerClanner knew it would be hard to move clans this late, after he’d been a warrior for many moons, but he would have to get over himself and learn how to meet other cats on his own.
The ebony tom took a deep breath, then stood up to do just that.
Protectingshadow’s eyes were glued to the sky, watching as soft white clouds scuttled by. His ears swiveled towards the tom’s movement, but he didn’t speak a word.
He spotted a grey-black tom, considered a moment, then padded over to him and dipped his head politely. "Ah, hello. Sorry to bother you. My name is Crownglass... I'm a bit new around here, as you can probably tell," he explained. He knew the SummerClan scent still clung to his fur.
Alright, not as friendly as he had anticipated, but he was a newcomer, and this wasn't SummerClan. "Hi. What's your name? I'm still getting to know everyone," he prompted.
"I am," he agreed. The ebony tom gave him a searching glance, wondering how much he ought to say. Crownglass never lied -- and even if he did, his golden eyes would give it away, clear as day -- but he wasn't above withholding certain truths. "I wasn't happy in my clan anymore," he replied. "It's a good place, with good cats... but I didn't quite fit in anymore, the longer I stayed the more hurt I got, and the clan was struggling too. I am glad to see them recovered, but it wasn't the place for me anymore."
Ivorycrown had seen the tom her sister had brought home from across the camp. With a mischievous grin, she'd moved towards him, only to catch the tail end of his conversation with Protectingshadows. "Oh? Is that all? I was sure it was because of Seablossom, but I guess I was wrong." Anyone could see that the two were merely dancing around each other. StarClan sakes! Ivorycrown had known her sister was in love without her even saying she'd met a tom. It was obvious to anyone who looked how torn up she'd been. With their family history, the new warrior was sure it was a cat from outside the clan. And wouldn't you know it when she brought this hunk of meat home.
He glanced over at her sharply, the embarrassed look in his eyes giving away she was exactly right, then shook it off with a light smile. "I came to EarthClan specifically because it was the only clan I knew someone in," he agreed, careful, "but that isn't why I left SummerClan." That was mostly true, again; he hated to deal in half-truths but he wasn't really sure how much he could say without getting Seablossom in trouble for seeing someone outside of the clans. He wasn't even convinced yet she felt that way.
"Hmmm? I'm sure that's it. Though, you wouldn't be the first to move here for a family or lover." Ivorycrown rolled her eyes, she'd give him credit, he was trying. But oh she'd make this difficult. Seablossom and her may not be on the best of terms at the moment, but that didn't mean that she was going to allow this tom to try an woo her sister without giving him the go-around first. Who else better than her? The warrior began to clean her paws, glancing at him from the corner of her eye, "I mean my own father's kits are all born in other clans and then moved here. Our grandparents are star-crossed lovers. Gramps didn't even know about the family until he was about dead." She'd only met Greyflight a few times, but even she knew their family history. Mostly because it infuriated her, but also because Seablossom had drilled into her how important family was.
The tom watched the two go back and forth, annoyance sparking in his eyes. After a moment, the tom turned his attention back to the sky. Protectingshadows had never been a fan of banter such as this.
Crownglass didn't like where this was going. He especially didn't like the little excited twist in his heart at the idea of being lovers because that meant he wasn't the only one who felt that way, and that was a realization he wanted to come to in private, not in front of her sister. Unless she was just mocking him... which was possible, he probably wasn't that subtle with his feelings. He shifted his step and glanced hopelessly at Protectingshadows for help, and found none.
"I told you why I came," he replied steadily, looking at them both. "I didn't come here just because I wanted to... be around someone. I had more reasons that that."
"Protectingshadows doesn't believe you, do Protectingshadows?" What better way to prove her point then to bring in a clanmate that interacted with Seablossom before and after this tom showed up. Ivorycrown nudged teh oter warrior with her tail tip until he replied, just like an apprentice or kit would when trying to get their way. Besides, she figured if she was able to get one of teh two confused lover birds to confess then she coudl use the good feeling as cushioning before she apologized to Seablossom. And if she got to know her new brother-in-law to-be better, it just made it a win-win right?
Crownglass was good at holding onto his temper, and he took a few even breaths to keep himself calm, though annoyance pricked his paw pads as she refused to let it go. He dipped his head to Protectingshadows for his answer. "Thank you."
"Well, you're no fun." Ivorycrown huffed ass she turned to grooming her fur. These two were fo no interest to her if they wished to continue hiding. It was obvious to anyone why Crownglass had joined, especially since he'd started helping Seablossom out more and more lately. I mean really, what cat wouldn't be able to see the tension between the two? Protectingshadows must not wish to socialize, ...or maybe the tom doesn't realize it....
The ebony tom glanced between them for a moment, attempting to get a read on either, and mostly failing. "So, how is your day going, Ivorycrown?" he asked politely. "Have you gone out hunting or on patrol? Either of you?"
"Nothing as of yet. Are you offering to go with me? I don't need a babysitter." Ivorycrown him a glare, mind set on the fact that it seemed like Seablossom didn't trust her lately and was asking the tom to keep an eye on her. Wouldn't be the first time the deputy had done something like that.
