( SUNCLAN PATROL : With newleaf, comes rain. Following the first storm of the season, and the warm weather, the river flooded, and now that it's starting to recede, the Old Bridge needs to be checked for damage, and repaired if necessary, and the Waterlogged Ruins need to be checked to ensure that the catmint plants haven't died due to the increased rainwater. )
Snapdragoncyosure splashed in the puddle with a slight laugh, water splashing over the other cats of the patrol, those who may or may not appreciate being soaked. But the she-cat didn't seem to mind. It was the first sunny day in a week, and the world was muddy and bland, but the snow had gone down significantly. It would be gone completely in the next moon, barring any sudden changes, and the multicolored feline was happy for the warmth and the visible earth. "Come on! We need to get to the old bridge. I want to see if it's holding up okay." It had survived countless seasons thus far, so there was a good chance it was fine, but they had to be sure.
Blazestep was one of the cats chosen for this patrol, but she couldn't see why. She was impatiant, oblivious to the small details, and rash. This wasn't the sort of thing that she found very appealing.
With an angry sigh, she trotted over to where the group would be meeting with a disapproving look at the cats splashing in the water. Cats were no meant to swim, or the sun god would have given them fins and gills.
Duskpaw padded along beside Blazestep. He was a scruffy dark brown furred tom with a black underbelly and cheek fur. His back legs were white in the back and front legs white in the front and a patch of his fur along his eyes was like a sliver of a moon. His tail bobbed side to side and he walked in a neat elegant trot. Every week he came up with a different character to pretend he was. Today he was Ginkgosong, an elegant princely type warrior who was always up for an exploration, but held class and tidiness to the upmost importance. It was almost amazing how committed the apprentice was to the roles he made up. Each character had a different walk, pitch, and tone of voice as well as a backstory that he committed to as though he religiously memorized each of his characters.
"If people don't start attending then we may as well start exploring, honestly some people think they can just ride on the tails of other cats and get somewhere in life," Duskpaw said with sophistication accented in each pronounced vowel.
"We have three. That should be enough to at least assess everything. Anyone else who intends to come along can find us on the way." The warrior wasn't too impatient herself, but she didn't want to be waiting half a season for one or two more cats either. Surely, they'd find someone if they were needed or went looking. In the meantime, they may as well get things underway, right? As for Duskpaw's character, the she-cat looked vaguely amused, but made no comment. If that's what made him happy, she had no problem with it.
"Fi-na-lly. Who needs those slackers? Well probably for the grunt work honestly, I suppose I'll pitch in though," Duskpaw or Ginkgosong said.
Ginkgosong looked Blazestep up and down and made a smooch noise with his lips, "Well you're stunning," He winked and walked past her, his tail sliding under Blazestep.
Of course, each of Duskpaw's characters never seemed to have a gender he named out loud which made some have to guess, his persona was very possibly a she-cats. It never took long before his game of pretend became incredibly complex.
Blazestep rolled her eyes at the flirtatious connotation. After all tommorow the cat would probably take on a different persona and just hater her. "Yeah focus on the task at hand" she meowed in agreement.
They arrived at the Bridge in what felt like no time at all, the river roaring beneath the path that separated them from the gathering place, from the NightClan border a short distance away. "Wow, the water really is high!" The warrior commented, as though she'd never seen flood water before. This wasn't true, however, but she was impressed by just how high it had gotten. Now, onto actually checking out the bridge itself. "Be careful, it's still wet around the edges. Don't want either of you slipping into the river."
"Naturally, I would rather keep my pelt dry" she shrugged walking over to where the bridge started it's arch over the water. "I'm not really sure what we should be looking for. It's still standing and there isn't water on it"
