Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The last two of her kits had been apprenticed, so she had been able to return to the warrior's den. For the most part, she resented the den, and she resented Solsticestar for taking her kits away from her -- but that could only last so long, because now her kits were of age to leave her anyway, and she couldn't hold them back forever. At least she'd been given a new apprentice to try and fill the hole in her heart from having her sons ignore her now. Voicelesspaw would be a challenge to train, but she welcomed it.
The fluffy grey-and-white she-cat laid outside of the warrior's den as the sun rose, her tail tapping lightly on the ground beside her. It was going to be a warm day, she judged, with the light grey clouds overhead trapping in the heat, but if it started to storm they'd want to get back early. Best to get started now then to make the most of their time. Breezestep rose to her paws and stretched, then padded to the apprentice's den to check on her apprentice.
A sleeping shape was curled up tight within the den, having been left sleeping by his twin brother and thus oblivious to the world around him. Voicelesspaw spent a lot of time like this though, shut off from the outside world. Often feeling a step away from it with his inability to speak leaving him without a bridge to help close that gap.
She spotted him near the edge of the den and smiled slightly. He looked peaceful, but it was time to begin training, so she squeezed into the den and slipped closer to give him a soft nudge. "Hey there, Voicelesspaw," she murmured sympathetically, "I'm sure you're enjoying your dream, but we need to get started."
Voicelesspaw startled slightly, raising his head and blinking slowly towards his new mentor. It was with lethargic movements he pushed to his paws and stretched, shaking out his pelt slightly as he went to try and bring some life into him. Nodding towards her once he had stretched for a moment, trying to let her know he was ready to go without words; always feeling a bit burdensome for his lack.
She stepped back and waited to be sure he wasn't going back to sleep; at his nod, she turned and led the way out of the den and into the camp. She hadn't quite thought ahead to how she was going to train him when he couldn't talk to her, but they would find a way. Maybe his family and friends would have some pointers to offer. Her stomach rumbled softly and she glanced at the fresh-kill pile, missing being a queen already, when she was the first to eat. There wasn't enough prey left from the night before for her to take some, though. "We'll have to hunting. Does that sound like fun?"
