Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Diamondheart waited impatiently outside the soldiers den. The weather was warmer than what she was used to, and her black coat soaking up the sun was not helping her case at all. She swished her tail in frustration. She had been assigned a new apprentice- a trial waiting to become a convict. Her tail tapped as she waited.
Barbara came crawling out of the underbrush, a stoic look on her features. She was obviously unenthused with the whole trial situation, yet, in order to prove her worth to WinterClan and to be allowed in, she had to complete it. Luckily for her, she didn't have to go through the convict stage due to her young age. All she needed to do was complete this phase, and she was done. It was odd, though, for no trial had been assigned a mentor before; maybe it was just exclusive for soon-to-be trainees? Upon noticing Diamondheart, the silver tabby she-cat dipped her head in greeting, yet remained silent.
She looked at the she-cat. Younger than what she was expecting, although she didn't quite know what to expect at all. She squinted her jade eyes. "Good afternoon. Have we met before? My name is Diamondheart. I will be your mentor starting today." Her voice was deep and firm. She was once in Barbara's paw prints, as a cat that joined with her kits. By the looks of it, this she-cat didn't seem much older than her own children. "What was your name again? Barbara was it?" She didn't want to sound rude, but at the same time, she didn't really care about how annoyed her tone was.
Diamondheart? What a peculiar name. Of course, all of these cats around her had peculiar names, but Diamondheart? Wasn't Diamond a mineral of some sort? She snorted quietly to herself and nodded her head. "Yes, Barbara, but maybe that'll change once I'm accepted, no?" She stated simply, shrugging her shoulders lightly.
Diamondheart nodded her head. "Yes. It changes for all of us, as we are abandoning our old life and accepting a new one forever." Her voice was monotone. Her voice was stern, as she seemed to have little emotion. Diamondheart didn't trust this she-cat- not yet at least. "We are going directly into training. I really don't enjoy small talk, so we are only 110% focused on training. Even though you have a particular case, you are still a trial, and thus need to hunt for our clan. I will be training you in both the customs and territory of our clan, as well as some hunting and little battle moves to defend yourself. I will be reporting your progress directly to the Sovereign, and she will be the one overseeing and directing your Trial. Do you have any questions before we move out?" She gave the young she-cat little time to respond.
Barbara listened to Diamondheart, and already, she could tell she didn't like her. Her voice was similar to that of a possessed cat's, and that in itself was scary enough for Barbara. Nonetheless, though, she nodded her head along to her words, understanding what she was saying. You got this. You got this. You got this. She repeated over and over in her head, and with a deep breath, she finally spoke, "Understood."
She squinted her jade eyes. "Good. Let's begin by assessing your skills. Are you familiar with the territory yet? Enough to hunt comfortably?" She asked the trial. Diamondheart wanted to get a sense how strong Barbara was before she could begin teacher her.
"No," Barbara answered truthfully, looking down at her paws. "Valleystar has had me sleeping at the edge of camp so she could keep a close eye on me. She hasn't allowed me to leave my, err, place of residence until she was able to appoint me a temporary mentor. Which turns out to be you." She shuffled her paws and let out a small, awkward cough, not making eye contact with Diamondheart.
(god i am. so sorry for my peanut brain) The tuxedo nodded intently. "I see. I will show you around our territory first, as it will be were you'll spend most of your time for now." She flicked her black tail and began walking north were the weather grew colder- more to what the forest cat was built for. "Here, we are nearing our border. There are no other Clans to the north of us, however this land is claimed more for rogue gangs." She twitched her ears as she finished her statement. "You should be careful here. There are many rabbits, but the rogues won't think twice before stealing them from you. I don't want you coming here without me, or another soldier." Diamondheart's voice was a mix between a command and concern, almost motherly in a way.
