Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
She looked at him, concern in her eyes, "I hope it isn't what I think it is...I think I should see Softpelt about it...a second opinion is always better..."
Foxfoot nodded intently. "Right. Do you feel well enough to move? I don't want you to overexert yourself." He frowned at the thought of Fawnheart injuring herself on top of possibly being sick.
She nodded, "I can make it back to camp." She stood up on shaky paws and began walking back to camp. The forest spun around her and it was becoming harder and harder to breathe but she kept pushing herself until she finally halted, entering another coughing fit. After she gained control again, her nose went into the air. She could smell something...something familiar through her nose that was beginning to become stuffy. However, she could just make out a little bit of the sweet scent, "Tansy!" she mewed, at last, her eyes lighting up. She swerved away from the direction she was heading and came upon a patch of yellow flowers. Only, they didn't exactly look like flowers. They were basically just yellow balls growing from the ground. She plucked a few stems before she ate one. "This should help my coughing until I can get to camp. I hope Softpelt had found some more cat mint. Though, this should hold me over. Will you help me carry some of this back to camp?" She asked, pointing to a small pile of stems she had plucked.
(GOD I AM SO SORRY I AM ON SOME STUPID BOY JUICE TODAY LOL) The somali couldn't help but smile when she lit up at the sight of tansy. He really was really impressed and interested in her knowledge of herbs and medicines. "Of course I'll help you carry some. Is it... Fragile? Like will it break if I bite down too hard?" His face was a goofy mix of concern and questioning. He really wanted to help Fawnheart, but he didn't want to ruin the herbs. "How does tansy work exactly?" He asked her, though he felt he shouldn't have as she might not be able to talk very well with her possible illness.
She gave a weak smile, "No, they have sturdy stems. You can carry them however you like." She took a few herself but she was still able to talk through them without having a muffled sound. "If you chew and swallow the 'flower' part of the plant, it helps relieve coughs. The leaves can help with joint pain. Though, it is dangerous to give to a cat that is expecting kits. She could miscarry them. The leaves also keep a cat's hunger at bay" she explained, heading for camp. Suddenly, a wave of sorrow washed over her. She had loved being here in Fallclan but she missed being a medicine cat much more. She began to feel homesick and miss her job.
Foxfoot watched as Fawnhearts expression quickly changed from charming to sorrowful. He nuzzled against her and purred. "Tell me more about the herbs. Did you mention catmint before? What does that do?" He didn't know if talking about her old job would make her sadness worse, but he also thought that if he could distract her it would take her mind off things.
Feeling his comfort made her feel better. She was grateful for his support and the more she spent time with him, the more she fell for him. His interest in her knowledge of herbs made her feel important and she enjoyed talking about them. "Well, catmint has a cool feeling to it when it is eaten. That coolness opens up the airways and makes it easier to breath. It also helps cure greencough by breaking it all up inside. It helps bring it up and out of your system. It can also be used to calm a cat. However, I usually use Chamomile or Lavender for that."
She seemed to calm down. This made him smile, especially when she started talking about the herbs. "Here- put your weight on me. I'll carry you back to camp. Just tell me about the herbs." He purred lightly. "Lavenders are so beautiful, and they smell so nice. They might be my favorite plant."
