GidgetGalsyzygy Deadstrike has been searching for moons. He had looked for her for forever and he was getting desperate. He had looked everywhere for her, his heart longing to be at her side once more. She said that she'd be near the water if he ever came looking for her, so that's what he did, looking for her along rivers and lakes. He thought he had caught her scent around SummerClan, but as soon as the scent came, it vanished. One day, he heard of the return of a clan, rightfully named WaterClan. At the news, he raced as fast as he could to their territory. It had taken three days, but he had finally made it. Swangrace's scent was stale, but it was still hers.
"Swangrace! I'm here! I've missed you my love, I--" He stopped as a small kit peeked out of the camp. To his surprise, it looked like... no... it couldn't be. It looked like him as a kit? There was something about it, but there was no mistake those were Swangrace's eyes.
Scorchedkit looked at the tom warily, and as soon as he took a step forward, she dashed off. "TINYBREAAAATH! INTRUDEEEER! AAAAAAAH!" She screamed while running towards her and barreling into her once again.
Deadstrike winced at the call. "Oh no..." He sighed, but braced himself in case they decided to attack him.
As always, Tinybreath was never too far away; she had been resting in the Nursery while she watched her nieces and nephew play with the other kits. Initially, she hadn't noticed that Scorchkit had snuck out of the den, that is, until Skipkit and Slipkit had picked up on their sister breaking the rules and begun giggling mischievously. The slender black she-cat had already been making her way to the den's entrance when she heard the kit's desperate cry, and immediately bounded outside into camp, where she was met with Scorchedkit literally barreling full-force into her. "Scorchedkit! Darling, wha-"
As she wrapped her tail comfortingly around the wailing kit, her icy blue eyes glanced up and met the gaze of the 'intruder'. The warrior's breath caught in her throat as she stared in full disbelief. "Deadstrike...?" Tinybreath had only met her sister's mate a couple of times, but she was absolutely sure of it. This was him. Almost as quickly as it came her initial shock faded away, giving rise to a violent storm of emotions: sorrow, amazement, hope, protectiveness, unbridled fury...and regret. Regret that the situation she had prayed would never come was now inevitable.
"So," she meowed, her voice cold and harsh. "You've finally come back."
"Sister! Are you alright?!" Slipkit came running out of the nursery to check on Scorchedkit, but tripped over her own feathery tail and had come crashing into her instead, sending the pair tumbling across the camp in a furry ball. "Ow ow ow...sorry." The young she-cat woozily stood back up and shook out her beautiful, silver tabby pelt, blinking up at the stranger with bright clover-green eyes.
If Scorchedkit looked just like Deadstrike, Slipkit was the perfect mirror image of Swangrace.

Deadstrike stared at Tinybreath. "Oh, hey, Tinybreath... uh, nice to see you, too." He shuffled his paws. "Yeah, I managed to get out of the gang and came back for her." He didn't know how to deal with the situation, Tinybreath never did really approve of him, did she?
He took a step forward, but to his surprise, another kit along with the first kit popped up along with Tinybreath. There was no way around it. This one looked exactly like Swangrace and the other kit was exactly like him. His heart surged with excitement. He slowly looked up at Tinybreath, excitement filling his eyes and beaming. This was incredible!
"Tinybreath! Did Swangrace have kits? Did Swangrace have my kits?" He said with shock and surprise.
Scorchedkit shook her head. "Yeah I'm fine, I guess." Her head hurt, but was shocked by the stranger's words. Her father?
Tinybreath glanced over at the two confused kits, affection swelling in her chest for them, and partly because she knew that she wouldn't be able to look Deadstrike in the eyes for this. "They're beautfiul, aren't they?" She purred, trotting over to give both kits a loving lick on the head, to soothe both their nerves and her own. "They have another sister and brother inside the den. They're all four moons old now, nearly apprentices." Leaning down, the she-cat prodded both of her nieces with her muzzle, encouraging them to step forward towards the tom. "That's your father, girls. Be polite and introduce yourselves."
Slipkit initally shrunk back under the strange tom's gaze. Was this really her father? She gave a cautionary glance back at Tinybreath; auntie would never lie to them about this. When the warrior gave another nod of encouragement, the silver tabby took a few steps forward, staring up at Deadstrike in awe. "H-Hi..." she mewed shyly. "I-I'm Slipkit. You loved momma...so you knew her better than even auntie did, right?"
Tinybreath's eyes widened in fear, realizing where the kit's train of thought was going. She had never neglected to tell them their mother's fate, outright refusing to let them call her 'mother'. The kits had long since come to accept it, but they were always eager to learn more about Swangrace. "Slipkit." She meowed stiffly. "That's enough..."

Deadstrike crouched down to be eye level with his kits, his breath shaking. "Hi... Oh, you're beautiful. You look just like your mother." He didn't notice her use of the past tense and glossed over it. He touched his nose with hers. "I can't believe I have kits!" He said while nuzzling her, his eyes welling up and his heart feeling full.
Scorchkit squealed in glee. "I have a daddy! And you look just like me!" She looked at her paws. "Well, my paws are normally white but they're kinda muddy."
Deadstrike laughed while sobbing a bit. "Yeah, and you're going be a great fighter too! Just like me!"
Scorchkit drooped a bit. "Could you tell us about momma?"
He stopped. His heart dropping straight out of his chest. "What do you mean?" He looked at Tinybreath suddenly, his eyes filled with sudden fear.
Time felt like it had gone completely still for Tinybreath, staring back at the look of pure dread and terror on Deadstrike's face.
This was it.
Now, or never.
"Swangrace..." her voice has barely audible, there was a ringing in her ears, and without even realizing it, tears had begun to stream down her face. "She's...she's gone, Deadstrike. These kits...she died giving birth to them. She was weak, she was sick...we did all we possibly could to save her, but..." The she-cat clenched her teeth together to prevent herself from sobbing. No! She had already mourned for her sister! She refused to go through it all again! She had to stay strong, for the kits' sake!
Slipkit beamed with joy as she touched noses with her father. A father! She finally had a father! But her smile fell when Deadstrike asked where momma was...and Tinybreath started crying about it again. It was always so hard to get Tinybreath or Uncle Wyverndelirium to tell them about momma without crying. They missed her very much.
Noticing the strange look of her father's face, she stared up at him confused. Did he...did their daddy not know momma was gone?

(I'M CRYING NO)
Deadstrike couldn't hear anymore. The love of his life... gone? Tears started rolling down his face, even before he could realize that he was completely crushed her words.
"What?" He whispered before crumpling to the ground. The realization came to his head suddenly. Four moons ago, in SummerClan. That was Swangrace, having their kits! "It was in SummerClan wasn't it?" He asked, his sobs wracking his chest now. "I was right there and I couldn't get to her. This is my fault, I couldn't save her!" He wailed loudly.
He walked towards Tinybreath looking at her. "I'm so sorry."
He had spent months looking for her, finding a way out of the Claws, constantly struggling, only to find the one cat he'd given everything up for to be...
He couldn't even say it in his head. His crying stopped for a second as he looked down at his kits again. It was the pure meaning of bittersweet. He and Swangrace had created four kits that represented them, their love, and everything good. He swept the two kits closer to him with his tail.
"I'm sorry darlings, your mother was the best thing to happen to me, and now she's given me even more. More than I could ever imagine." He said quietly to them, a tear falling on Slipkit's head.
Scorchkit felt bad. She didn't know that he didn't know. What mattered to her right now was that she had a father. It was almost like her family was complete. Tinybreath wasn't their mom, but it felt like it. And she was happy about that. She cuddled next to him, breathing in his scent.
“And just who are you?” An oddly strong voice radiated through the air. Narrowed eyes locked on a cat she had never seen before. Violetstar was not too keen about strangers waltzing into their camp. Especially without speaking to her or being brought to her at first sight. The feline was calm, despite her strong tone.
Wiping the tears from her eyes with a paw, Tinybreath stepped forward and pulled Deadstrike into an awkward embrace. Despite how she may have thought of him and Swangrace as a couple when she was younger, it was crystal clear to her now just how much they loved each other; why her sister was willing to do what she did to give birth to these precious kits. "Yes, it was Summerclan," she replied softly. "But even if you had been there, there was nothing anyone could've done. My family...we have a long history of difficult kittings; my mother nearly died twice just giving birth to my twin sister and me. Heh, I wouldn't be surprised if Swangrace knew from the very start how this would all end...though she probably didn't care; it was her greatest dream to have kits."
"But she loved you, Deadstrike. Til the bitter end, she never gave up on you." Hearing her leader's voice, Tinybreath lifted her head to look at Violetstar, before turning back to Deadstrike, her eyes bright with hope and determination.
"Don't prove my sister wrong. Don't let her down now. State your case, and show all of us who you are."
Slipkit's ear twitched as her father's tear landed on it, but she simply brushed it off, too preoccupied with cuddling up against him and taking in his scent. Despite never having met him before in her life, he smelled so familiar. Glancing over with one green eye over towards the nursery, she noticed a familiar sandy-brown face watching her and Scorchkit curiously. "Skipkit!" she called, beaming. "Come over here! This is our father! It's really him!"

"My name is Deadstrike. I was a former gang member of the Claws, and I would have still been one had it not been for Swangrace, my mate. I searched for her for months before hearing about WaterClan. I finally made it here and.." He motioned and looked at the kits in front of him. "These are my kits, and I don't intend to leave them, ever."
He looked back up at her. "I can be a great asset to your clan. I can prove myself, just... don't make me leave."
“I see.” The leader began, her eyes shifting about them. “You can hunt? Fight?” Violetstar asked, her expression seemingly blank for the moment as she did not let it waver.
