Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The bubbly white and gray she-cat hopped from the retreating line of shore, pebbles shifting against her paws as she did so. She was always probably going to be a kit at heart; fondly chasing the waves and spraying diamond like sparkling droplets of water into the air. Timecascade laughed whimsically to herself, amused at even the smallest of details. Though a nagging through at the back of her head definitely knew that if she were caught, she would most likely be chastised for her behavior. Sighing, she sat down and began grooming out her fur. Then, she promised herself, I'll actually go and hunt.
As Timecascade had promised herself to go hunting, Nightshiver had actually returned from exactly that. He was weaving himself through the thickness of the trees, his paws leaving imprints into the wet soil. The previous night, it had rained, and Nightshiver was incredibly excited. The day after a good rain always smelled fantastic and felt refreshing, and so, Nightshiver had spent his morning and afternoon hunting. A large hare hung limply from his jaws, it's hind feet dragging against the ground ever-so-slightly. Hares were usually almost as large as cats, but luckily for Nightshiver, he stood at a whopping 16in at the shoulder - six inches taller than your average short-haired male cat. Nightshiver was a mainecoon, after all.
Upon hearing paws hitting the ground nearby, Nightshiver had decided to take a sharp left, going towards the sound. As he emerged from the treeline, he noticed Timecascade, running gleefully along the shoreline and kicking up small pebbles in her wake. "Hey!" Nightshiver called out, his voice muffled by the hare. With a huff, he dropped the hare and yelled louder, "Timecascade!" Picking his hare back up, the black-striped brown tabby tom began to trot towards her, his tail lashing out behind him in greeting.
She jumped as a voice crashed through her reverie, making her twist around to see who it was that was calling her name. Her posture relaxed and gaze lazily soft, she perked right up at the appearance of another. The lithe she-cat hopped to her paws instantly, trotting on over to the tom to meet him halfway. "Hey, Nightshiver," she greeted placidly, surveying his catch with wide, stormy blue eyes. "Woah! How'd you manage to catch that? I've never exactly been graceful enough to hunt in the fields. I always fell over my paws."
She shuffled her paws against the pebbles, feeling a hot flash of embarrassment flash throughout her pelt. StarClan, she really was a kit. She wished that she would be able to be as mature as any other cat in FallClan one day. But apparently, time had another thought in mind. Brightening up after her little sentiment, she added, "There's always room to improve, though, right?"
Nightshiver felt a little bad as she jumped, causing his ears to flatten against his skull. "Sorry!" He called out an apology, although a laugh followed afterwards. He placed the hare down once again. As she descended upon him, Nightshiver nudged her cheek gently, a smile on his maw. "You're looking good today," He complimented, coming to sit against his haunches. "It was actually quite the challenge," He responded to her amazement of him being able to catch the hare, and quite honestly, he was amazed as well. "It proved to be an exhausting chase, but with my long legs, I was faster."
He noticed her shuffling her paws and he chortled softly, shaking his head at her movements. "You looked happy while you were running," He commented, his tail coming to drape over his paws. "And, catching hares is an art, but it's learnable. Maybe I can teach you?"
She fought the bashful burn of her cheeks at his remark, wondering if she really had been that excited and happy; was she that obvious? She probably looked like some flailing apprentice, honestly. Sitting down with a huff, she moved herself next to the tom and stared down at the hare for a moment, before glancing back up at him with bright eyes. "I think I'm always happy. Usually. Like... maybe ninety percent happy?" Timecascade said automatically, noting that she had always been a pretty charismatic cat. "I dunno'. In my opinion, I think its best to hold yourself with somewhat of a happy outlook on life. Makes things more entertaining and exciting."
At his offer, she leapt up to her paws, eyes stretching wide with apprehension. "Really? You'd help me?" she fought the growing excitement inside of her, not wanting to seem too energetic. Which, in reality, she was nothing but energetic. "I would love that! I don't know how well I'll be, what with me probably stumbling all the time but... I can try, at least."
Is this what a crush felt like? Nightshiver had always longed for a mate, and even possibly kits, but never had he ever had a crush on someone. He could feel his heart start to quicken with each word she spoke, and he felt as if he were floating on Cloud Nine. The gray and white she-cat was truly something special, and he couldn't wait to get to know her more. "It's good you're always happy," He purred in response, "happiness is the key to success in life. It's what people like to call 'the secret'. The secret is basically the law of attraction, where your mind attracts to it whatever you're thinking. If you think foul thoughts, you're bound to attract something foul. If you think happy thoughts, well," He chuckled, "I'm sure you get the gist of it."
As she jumped up and onto her paws, Nightshiver grinned, his tail lashing out playfully behind him. "Of course I'd help you!" He answered. With a huff, he pushed himself onto his paws, and stared down at the hare below. "Well, how about we eat this here hare for energy, and then we go out and catch an even bigger and better one? The both of us?"
She wasn't even sure if she was paying much attention to his words, because not a whole lot of it really made sense to her. But she vacantly nodded and found herself only listening along while also simultaneously being absolutely trapped by his pale golden eyes. But when he had asked her a question, she was instantly thrust from her little zoning out experience and left desperately wonder what in the name of StarClan he had said. She faintly remembered something along the lines of, The both of us? She felt her face catch fire at once, her heart doing a little skipping dance. Glancing down, the much shorter she-cat saw that he had nudged the rabbit forward. That must have been what he'd met. Feeling a bit foolish, she smiled from ear to ear per his previous statement and fought away any signs of embarrassment. "As long as it's okay with you," she said merrily.
Her stomach grumbled in response to her answer though, and she let out a small laugh, "Although I think my stomach definitely agrees." She sat herself comfortably against the pebbles; enjoying the cooling effect they had in response to the bright sun that was out today. Glancing up at Nightshiver, she tilted her head and said, "Do you want the first bite, since you caught it?"
"Of course," He rumbled in a purr, "go ahead." Though when she offered him the first bite, he shook his head and laughed. "I am but a mere tom, but you, my gal, are a lady. Ladies always deserve to eat first."
She blushed at his sentiments and, her entire pelt flashing with warmth. "O-okay," she fumbled out of her mouth. She had to duck her head to hide the embarrassingly stricken look upon her face. Instead, she worked on taking her first bite and let out a singing noise of approval. After swallowing, she exclaimed, "Its delicious! I still can't believe you'd caught it." With another bite; and a flick of her ears in embarrassment at her hastiness, she drew back and let him have his share. When the two were done eating their meal, she rose to her paws and glanced at the sky. It was dusty pink; hinting that in due time to sun would surely begin to set beyond the trees.
With a sudden thought, the white and gray she-cat perked up and fixed him with two pleading, excited blue eyes. "I know we're supposed to go and hunt rabbits now... but do you want to go up to the lookout spot? I've never been up there myself, and I really wanna see the sunset behind the peaks. You can never see it unless your up there," she asked imploringly. Her pelt fluffed as she added, "We can plan to have my training lesson sometime later, right?"
