Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Tasman and Taikatalvi had been friends in their youth, and once again, the two seemed to have found each other. In a way, Lakeveil was the outlier of the trio, for she wasn't born from cats who'd lived and breathed the Monarchy long before BrookClan had come asking for aid. No, even her name indicated her status as a cat who'd always known BrookClan, had watched it change from a normal clan, to the first incarnation in which royalty had been established, and now to this place in the wake of the League's attack that seemed so long ago now. She was the eldest of them, by far, and yet, she was clever, and strong, and dangerous as ever, a silver tongued manipulator with an aura of trustworthiness. Once upon a time, she'd aided Kerrigan in the Tsar's rise to power, and now, it was time for a new reign, one that would bring BrookClan into a new era, and hopefully, the Dvorayne into the position her mother had held not so long ago.
Today, whether it was by chance or fate, Lakeveil had invited the two felines to join her for a day. She'd grown close to Tasman in recent times, and Takatalvi, who seemed to know the future Tsar, had piqued her interest, to the point that the Dvorayne had slowly started to make friends with her as well.
There wasn't a particular plan for the day, not that the other two knew, at least. No, for today, they were simply gathered together to reconnect, forging new bonds and strengthening those which they already held, and for Lakeveil at least, that was enough. In the chaos of conspiracy and the anarchy caused by Kerrigan's disappearance, they'd all hardly had a moment to rest. Plots had been hatched, alliances formed, and plans were starting to be enacted, finally. It was about time that they should have a moment to themselves, and the Head of Sterling House had been the one to suggest such a thing.
All that remained was the arrival of the other two felines, and this day could begin.
It had been a rather odd request, one that Tasman had been surprised to get from Lakeveil. Not so much that the she-cat invited her out, or even that she extended the invitation also to Taikatalvi. It was surprising that Lakeveil had suggested a day that was not riddled with conspiracy. From what Tasman said, this was not meant to be an evening to create plots and plan their next move. It was just a moment to themselves, a girls night almost. That was the part that was strange to her, and there was a part of her wondered if such events were possible among two felines who sought two very different crowns. Yet, despite the feeling in her stomach that perhaps there was something that she wasn't understanding, Tasman had no reason to deny the offer, at least no reasonable reason to. Anyways, this would be interesting in that it would be a meeting of the minds: the future Tsar, the future Vrachii, and a future Cyd. All they needed was Declan, and it would be a meeting of all cats who might suggest power.
The calico considered this as she crossed the threshold of the shadow and into the sight of the other. "Lakeveil," she greeted with a tilt of her head. "How are you fairing this morning?" Of course, she didn't expect for the other cat to give any sort of negative response, but she was rather interested in what she had to say. After all, the she-cat had recently adopted the position of head of a royal house, which was something that Tasman couldn't say she wasn't jealous of a little bit. Although, soon, the she-cat would be the head of an entire clan, she had been robbed her own head-of-house status all those moons ago. There was no jealousy in her voice, though, only interest. After all, she was curious to see how the royal families were fairing at all, and if it seemed that one was getting particularly impatient.
Her relation with both felines were tentative at best. She had only just reconnected with Tasman and already she was swept into conspiracy and secrets. It was a new world, one led no longer by young hearts occupied only with fun but those who faced trial and longed for justice. Tasman was the same... but different. No matter the history of angst between them, she trusted her friend, although it was an adjustment period all the same. And Lakeveil... She didn’t know how she and her friend were connected. But if Tasman trusted her, so did she.
Padding up behind the noble after several paces between them, she dipped her head in greeting and sat down, her tail curling around her paws to offer security. It was only recently that Changeling warned her not to wander alone; were they safe in isolation
She turned to Tasman as she arrived, head inclining in a warm nod to the feline. This was an odd sort of day, with the expectation of relaxation rather than plotting, but even for them, who thrived on chaos, it was with a clear head and rest that they would function best, and after moons of being treated like the scum of the earth, Tasman deserved a day to feel normal, to be treated as an equal, and not someone below her simply based on Kerrigan's will. For that matter, Taikatalvi deserved the same. She'd always been considered lesser, even when she was friends with Tasman as a kitten, never being allowed to feel on the same level as the nobility.
"I am well enough, considering recent events. My house is grieving, which is to be expected, and the Harlows are increasingly frantic after Cynder and Elisio left on their search and the accusation that Elisio is a murderer." Lakeveil answered. "Things are chaotic, but we'll pull through, as always." The Sterling House, in particular, had suffered much in their lifetime. This was the third incarnation they'd seen of BrookClan, and they'd lost many of their own in their lives, though not nearly so violently, or in such a short timespan, as Tasman had.
Ah, and here was their last arrival. "Taikatalvi." She returned, her words pleasant and kind. This wasn't unusual, of course. Though she could conspire with the best, Lakeveil had an air of trustworthiness around her, the kind of cat that others could talk to without fear, even if the reality was far from what they assumed.
If Tasman could hear the thoughts of Lakeveil, she would probably be surprised. After all, she was the one who suggested that they basically poison the clan; it was abnormal at best to think that the she-cat would be the one to feel that Tasman or Talvi deserved anything more than they've gotten. It wasn't that she was overly suspicious of the she-cat. They had a working relationship. The she-cat just didn't know that Lakeveil had a ... nice? Was that the word for it? Compassionate ? Whichever the word, if Tasman could read minds, she would be surprised that the she-cat had that kind of side to her. She was used to the pleasantness that Lakeveil presented at face, but she was aware of the flipside of the coin.
Of course, she wasn't a mind-reader, so all of that was null and void.
"Have things gotten any better for your family?" she asked, in equal parts concern and interest. She assumed that Cesare was going to be one of the cats that stood up to her, but the rest of the Sterling house were genuinely cats that Tasman wanted on her good side. Perhaps she should personally check in with some of them, she thought with a flick o her tail. "I admire your family's resilience." This was a surprising statement from the E'Clair's mouth, but she meant it. The Sterlings were a strong type, although many of the family were deeply troubled.
When the other arrived, Tasman offered a smile of her own. "Hey there," she greeted. This was the first time the two could meet without heaviness in the air. Of course, Talvi had re-entered the life of the E'Clair, and with that came danger and darkness and heaviness around every corner. But, today, it seemed like the feline was hoping to ignore that, ignore the world outside of this little meeting. Lakeveil was right; she needed a break. "Glad to see you made it, hmm."
Talvi smiled, albeit hesitantly. She had never been good with those she didn’t know too well, but Lakeveil held an air of comfort around her; she felt, oddly, that she could spill her heart’s secrets without worries and she wouldn’t be judged for them. But that was for another day. Sitting beside Tasman, she looked around them. “What’s the plan?”

Lakeveil always had been an odd sort of cat. Tasman was a strong cat who had earned her respect, and that went along way to contributing to her desire to do anything kind for the feline. Above all, the future Vrachii was a cat who valued strength. She would follow whoever she believed to be the strongest at the time, a view that could quickly change based upon those who rose up. It was why she'd aided Kerrigan, and why she now aided Tasman. This, of course, in addition to her own selfish desires of increasing her lot in life. Talvi, for her part, was more of a pawn in her mind, neither strong nor weak, but a necessary ally due to her relationship with Tasman. Her views on the feline could change in an instant of course, but for tonight, that didn't matter. "Cesare is troublesome, as is to be expected. I'm keeping a close eye on him. Everyone else seems to have settled in well, either in agreement with Silentheart's decision, or too grief stricken to protest." Her son, first and foremost, was her concern. If there was anyone who would kill her, or her heir, Killian, it was he. But, until he started causing problems, she'd ignore some of his disobedience. She offered an appreciative nod to the she-cat, adding her own comment in turn. "And I, yours." Her family had lost a lot, but it was nothing in comparison to all Tasman's family had suffered. Stripped of royalty, her family killed and the remnants made to be worthless. The fact she had been able to rise up even so far as she had was admirable, to say the least.
"We're going to relax and enjoy ourselves. You two have never been given a real break, I expect, and you deserve a chance to feel free of the chaos, at least for tonight." She answered Talvi's question, a knowing look to her eyes. As Voiny, particularly those from smaller families, they had a lot more to do on their own, as opposed to she, a Dvorayne from a large line, who could delegate portions of the family to various tasks as needed, their lives naturally easier and more free from stress. So, she'd organized the day for them.
