Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
(Softpelt is running low on catmint, she knows there's catmint located in twolegplace and requires an escort to get it)
The new medicine cat, Softpelt, her soft white fur groomed neatly, looked about the camp. She'd informed Scatteredstar of their low supply of catmint and had suggested they head to twolegplace to fetch some.
Scatteredstar had approved the mission, but wanted her to bring several cats with her. So Softpelt waited for cats to join her.
Thrushsoot pulled himself from the warriors den. Early morning light flooded through the camp. "Softpelt," he said in greeting. "I heard about your mission from Scatteredstar. Perhaps you'll let me join you?"
The soft furred she-cat known as Koispirit had also heard through Clan murmurings, her head tilted curiously as news of the Clan's spreading Greencrough grew larger. The obvious nervous dread had prickled through her paws, causing her worry for her future, as well as the other cats of the Clan. Padding in suit of Thrushsoot, she craned her neck and listened to the toms inquiry. When he was finished, she fixed her brilliant blue eyes on Softpelt eagerly. "I'll also go," she said, her voice unwavering despite the obvious dilemma at hand. "I used to be a loner, and I kind of know the area of Twolegplace, even if I tried my best to avoid it."
Thrushstar nodded. "You will be a great addition to the team then." he said with a smile. "Perhaps we should wait for a few others to join us. Just incase we run into some.. unsavory cats."
Koispirit nodded all the same, sitting herself down neatly opposite the two gathered cats and glancing around for any signs of others wishing to join. "Do you think... this outbreak is going to get worse, then?" she asked hesitantly, not wanting to overstep uncomfortable boundaries. Her heart squeezed slightly at the thought of any fatalities, especially if the Greencough spread even more than it already had.
Thrushstar sighed. "I am not sure. Greencough is not something I want in the camp. I hope we can get enough catmint for Softpelt to cure the cats that are sick and not allow anyone else to be contaminated. Do you think that's possible, Softpelt?" he asked, turning his gaze to the she-cat.
She frowned slightly, wondering if there would be any way to confine the spread of Greencough so nobody else would get sick - though admittedly she was pretty bad at anything Medicine related. Rather than replying, the long furred white and auburn splashed she-cat waited quietly for Softpelts reply.
Foxfoot's ears twitched as he overheard the group discussing a mission. The somali tom raised himself from the ground and buried the remains of his meal quickly before padding over. "I'll come with you guys." He chimed into their conversation.
Fawnheart had talked to Softpelt earlier about going to the two-leg place for herbs. She padded over to Softpelt and dipped her head to her former clanmate in greeting. "Softpelt, do you think I should stay here in case anything is to happen to any of the sick cats while you are gone? Or would you rather me go with you?"
Softpelt felt a little overwhelmed briefly before she took a deep breath. she was the medicine cat, she had to care for these cats. Of course they were looking to her for guidance and what to do.
"Fawnheart, you should stay here, your experience and ability to care for the cats here while I'm gone is essential." She said slowly. logically a queen wouldn't leave her kits behind without leaving another to watch them while she was gone. To do otherwise invited the kits to make mischief, or worse run into trouble.
Then she turned to the deputy and leader. "Fawnheart and I will continue to do everything we can to try and prevent this outbreak from worsening, but the first step is acquiring more of the herbs we need. Meaning this patrol to fetch catmint from Twolegplace, is extremely important." Softpelt said firmly.
Fawnheart nodded to Softpelt, agreeing to her demands. She was impressed by how far Softpelt has come along from being her fellow clanmate to becoming a fellow medicine cat. She dipped her head again to Softpelt "be safe and good luck!" She turned away and padded back to the medicine den, waving her tail in farewell to the patrol.
Koispirit followed suit after the tom, the concern in her chest growing heavier as she glanced behind her at the Clan. "Hopefully we can find enough of what we're looking for," she mused, before flicking her tail towards the direction of the old bridge. "We have to cross the River in order to find Twolegplace, by the way."
Thrushstar looked behind him at those who had joined. "Do you think it will be strong at this season?" he asked. He worried if they would be able to safely cross.
