Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
What an interesting life he lived, and how interesting it was that it changed so often. Altaire had considered this more and more with time as he watched his life unfold. It was a unique life, but unique only in that he had not expected to become a mate to anyone nor the father to anyone, let alone a shaman and mage respectively. Yet, when Morgana sought him out, who was he to say no? His lips twitched at the thought. It served him right to have expectations of his life, it seemed.
Yet, even though his expectations had changed, the mannerisms of the tom hadn't. He had yet to kill off all of his bad habits, which might explain the scene at hand. The tom looked as if he had just gotten into a fight, and perhaps he had. There was something about a little bloodshed that cleared his mind, allowed him to think just a little clearer. Perhaps it made sense, then, that he sat on the border licking a new fleshwound.
LOL i can't write starters for the life of me its fine everythings fine
Solaris had the habit of patrolling the border at dusk, if just to get out of camp and clear his mind for a change. The days had grown so busy, so full of patrol assignments and distractions and complaints and sideways glances. The taciturn ginger tom wasn't oblivious- he saw the tension that had been building in the camp since he had taken over for Vera, and he didn't quite understand it. She had chosen him, promoted him through the ranks and then taken her own leave, and yet the cats of the League had this way of eyeing him like he had killed her and stolen the position. He supposed it was to be suspected- Vera's bloodline penetrated so deeply into the life of Primal Instinct that he knew the trouble would worsen before it improved.
It was on his daily stroll that he came across Altaire, a newcomer who had caught his interest considerably. He had mated with Morgana and seemed to be adjusting well to the life of a League cat. He was never one to criticize those who got the paws bloody, even if he himself only did it when absolutely necessary. "Good evening, Altaire." Solaris E'tan greeted cordially, his half ear twitching as he surveyed the tom. It would be good to have an ally who had no blood connection to Vera apart from a mate. His loyalties had yet to be solidified, and perhaps Solaris could find a friend in this strange new tom.

Even the mate he had resented her connection to Vera. It had been one of her motivations to find him, seek to change the monotony of stripes and spots. He had been well aware of that when he accepted her offer, that in many ways he was a suitor in hopes to make a change of what Morgana didn't like. He was about as removed from the former throne, then, as any. He communicated with some of the bloodline, of course, and his own blood had mingled with it, but that was the extent. However, this did not automatically sway his loyalty to the current throne. Although he wasn't actively against Solaris E'tan like many seemed to be, a cat did not automatically get Altaire's respect. Perhaps this was a product of living on his own for so long, of being his own boss. He hadn't learned that there were cats in which deserved respect before it was determined if they had the merit to demand it. This didn't mean that he was opposed to Solaris, or even that he would be slow to respect the current king, but it meant that he would take his time to make a fair assessment.
His lips upturned slightly when the other tom approached him. Perhaps, Solaris intended to make this assessment easy for him by not making him seek the other cat out. How wonderful that his life was made just that much easier. The Egyptian Mau dipped his head towards the Nemesis, his curled lips becoming a charming smile. "Good evening, Solaris E'tan," he meowed in his rich, dark tone. "How are you this fine day? I would hope fine, as far as the circumstances will let you." His own ear twitched at that. He was still wet behind the ears in terms of membership, but that didn't mean that he didn't see that the group was in a transition period. From his own experience in the Empire, the rogue group he had run before and in parts after accepting Morgana's offer, transitions were always the hardest. Once things settled, it was always easier, but getting the group to settle? That was always the part that took a little elbow grease.
Solaris E'tan inclined his head in acknowledgement of the circumstances, though that wasn't the topic he wanted to begin with. For now, he simply wanted to get to know Altaire, to categorize him like he did so many others in the League. Far from an aloof leader, Solaris liked to know his threats and his allies on a personal level. "I'm doing well, thank you. And yourself? How is your family?" He knew Morgana better than some others, having met with her for leadership purposes. He wanted to understand her choice of Altaire as a mate.
Per usual, Solaris' disposition gave away none of his inner thoughts or inclinations- he held himself erectly, his face cordial but otherwise unreadable. He liked to see that Altaire was composed, though that made him harder to read. It was a welcome break from certain cats of the League, who would shoot him dirty glances. Not that it truly bothered him, it was merely a nuisance.
