Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Wildpaw laid in his favorite spot. He returned here every time he needed a taste of freedom, when he was given the time to be on his own; he knew his family disapproved, but they could do nothing to stop him, not when he wasn't technically breaking any rules. His chin rested on the ground, outstretched to lay whiskers before the invisible border line, somber gaze staring into the great unknown on the other side of the rogue border. He wasn't allowed to leave, and so he would lay here, surrounded by temptation and wishing he could give in. His family was here, his clan, but the thoughts of them were bittersweet. As much as he loved his home, he wanted something more than this life, something new and challenging.
Squirrelleap padded over to Wildpaw. "Hey," The tabby tom meowed, he'd been coming to look for his friend... after all that had happened. But when he saw Wildpaw sitting there looking out over the border, the tom went over to him. "Looking for something?" He asked. Or someone he supposed. He knew the laws of NightClan... had defended them firmly. But even he couldn't deny that NightClan couldn't allow itself to remain an island.
by the way, what ended up happening w that patrol raiding winterclan?
"Something? Anything, if I'm being honest." He mulled over the mystery before his muzzle a few moments more, letting the temptation keep its hold on him, then with a sigh lifted his head and looked away, toward Squirrelleap. He smiled lightly, as if the burden on his soul weighed no more than a feather. "What brings you down here, Squirrelleap? It's been a while since I've seen you... how has being a warrior treated you?"
(It kinda didn't finish before the move XP, so it's up to you if you want Wildpaw to have been trapped in WinterClan or have escaped. I know me and blue both had cats get made into prisoners there, but if you want wildpaw to have escaped that's fine, planning on doing a thread eventually covering that)
Squirrelleap shrugged. "Eh, it's what I was raised to do. It's treated me fine." He said. Though... with the laws of NightClan being to hate those who weren't their clanmates... and after the incident with the outsiders. Being a warrior was a bit difficult for the tom. He missed being able to hang out with his Siamese friend, who simply by not being of NightClan blood he could not interact with him. Even though he was the reason Squirrelleap was still alive.
"You just... do what you gotta do. Patrol. Hunt. Prepare for leafbare, and for someone to decide to place a few paws over the territory or try to steal prey that isn't theirs." Squirrelleap said with a sigh sitting down beside Wildpaw.
(prison sounds like fun xD this can just take place before that then)
He tilted his head, listening intently to the tomcat's words. He swept his tail, welcoming the tom to join him, though he didn't move from his comfortable lying position and had to lean back a little to look Squirrelleap in the eye. "You make it sound rather... pedestrian," Wildpaw mused, taking a moment to consider his own word choice. He didn't often think before he spoke, and his own words sometimes startled him. He sounded so pompous. "Isn't there more to your life, than just the endless preparations? You have much more free time than you did as an apprentice, you must have some fun exploring that," he suggested.
"I do, but I have my duties to my clan," Squirrelleap meowed. "I'm a warrior, my job is to protect and serve NightClan, my father did it before me, and so shall I." He meowed tail flicking. "It's true I have more free time, I spend time with my clanmates, like what I'm doing now." He said lightly. "And I just... enjoy the peace while it lasts."
Duties upon duties. Was that all life was? Some might enjoy it, but it just made Wildpaw despondent. He wanted more than that out of his life. He wanted to run with the wind in his fur just for the fun of it, not because he was chasing prey, and splash in the shallows or climb trees to play with his friends. Maybe he was immature, but he just wanted something more out of his life. "As long as you enjoy it, I suppose that is not so bad," Wildpaw mewed finally.
Squirrelleap sighed. "Hey if you're looking for someone to tell you stories upon stories of the fun things he got up to with his buddies, I'm not your cat. Always kinda been solo." Until he'd nearly died in the pool at the base of a waterfall and had to have an outsider fish him out. "And I just enjoy what I do. I enjoy getting stronger and learning to fight, feels good you know to strut along, sometimes and know that you're one of the toughest things in the forest. Still probably would need help with a fox or badger, but I know I could at least hold my own for a bit. I've always been the one to follow the straight and narrow just... do what my dad expected of me, and what my clan expected of me. Truth be told I hear you saying 'well what do you do for fun' and I got nothing. There's a lot of fun others get up to, but for me... I just don't know. So... I just find happiness in my duties and it helps a little."
He listened, then rose slowly to his paws. A soft smile caressed his features as the white tom stepped closer and nosed him affectionately. It was a warm, intimate gesture; maybe it was crossing a line, but Wildpaw had always struggled with boundaries. He tended to embrace all cats as a prized friend and treated them like the most important cat in the world when they shared their thoughts with him. "You know, if all that makes you happy, then I'm glad for you," he purred. "But don't just do as your father wants from you. Your parents lived their lives, now you have a chance to live yours however you want."
