Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
It felt strange to be back in her home Clan, after so many moons of being away from it. Springfawn sighed to herself as she watched the warriors, the apprentices - her Clanmates, she reminded herself - go in and out of their dens. In some ways, everything felt the same; the Clan still operated in largely the same manner, and Springfawn had even managed to get back her old position as a member of the Black Hand. Her Clanmates, however, had all changed. She knew that Clans typically had a high turnover rate member-wise, but even so, there were so few cats she recognised that she almost felt like she was still away from home. What made NightClan NightClan? Was it merely the name, or was it the people who lived there?
Shaking her head, she went to stand and looked toward the camp exit. A walk would do her good, perhaps.
Fernshadow spotted her old mentor heading out, and the dusty brown she cat hurried to catch up with her old mentor. "Springfawn!" Fernshadow said as she came up to her old mentor. "Um, uh would you like some company?" She asked shuffling her paws... "It's just... it's been a long time. and I'd love to catch up."
Springfawn smiled, in spite of herself. Now here was a cat she did know, thank StarClan, an WinterClan's ancients, and whatever other belief systems were out there. "Of course," she replied, noting how her former apprentice had grown - not just physically, but seemingly emotionally, too. Or perhaps she just developed a better mask, like you did, she thought to herself, but she dismissed the thought out of her mind. Fernshadow wasn't like her. "You must have so many interesting stories from while I was...away."
"Well, there's definitely been a lot happening," Fernshadow said falling into step beside her old mentor. "I did wind up with a few more mentors... but none of them compared to you." She said softly letting out a purr. "You taught me a lot, and I'm really, really glad Burningstar did that rescue mission and rescued you all from WinterClan.. it must've been awful." She said softly.
Springfawn nodded hesitantly. "Yes, well..." she murmured, feeling reluctant to talk about her experience as WinterClan's captive. Other cats had it worse, after all - did she really have the right to complain? She was back home now, anyway. "It wasn't as bad for me," she said, aiming for a light tone. "I had faith I'd be able to come back one day, see everyone I knew..." She hesitated. "I'm glad I was able to leave an impression on you," she said with a slight smile.
"I really liked how you stood up for me against Shiverstar's sister that one time," Fernshadow said earnestly, brushing against her old mentor's side. "That was the first time someone did that for me, the first time I felt like I had someone in my corner... and it meant a lot. I'm so glad you're back. And that we showed WinterClan what for."
Springfawn paused to consider her former apprentice's words. Truth be told, she didn't remember the encounter very well; it had been one of those things were she hadn't really thought about what she'd been saying, what kind of impact her actions could have left on some younger, more impressionable than her, who wasn't jaded enough to consider Springfawn ineffectual at her job like many of her other Clanmates did. "I'm glad to be back," she replied, "and likewise, thank you for...being here. Greeting me. No one's done that yet but you, besides the other rescuers," she admitted.
( sorry i typed this while we were on the call so it might not make total sense xD )
Fernshadow blinked surprised. "But why? You were a member of our black hand before you left and you still are! I can't see why anyone wouldn't welcome you back... But I'm sorry they didn't." She said quickly. "I'm happy you're here. And I want you to stay. I'm sure once you get back in the swing of things, you'll be happier here." She assured her former mentor.
