Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Another strike of red would be added to his ledger, more pages would have to be added to his book. Weak gasp broke the silence, raspy things; highlighting the desperate struggle between life and death. Looking at the pathetic sight it was clear they could be saved. Permanently scared, and likely crippled but they could live with the right care. Care they would not find from Coyoteway. But as he watched them an idea was born, maybe a poor one, but he wanted to prod, wanted to poke.
"I'll be right back dearheart, don't move!" He laughed, mockingly, as if the loner would be getting up with their injuries, though they probably desperately wanted to, wanted to flee from the sadistic light that had shined in the long legged tom. Dashing away he raced back towards camp, barley sparing a moment of attention towards the camp guard before bounding over to the medicine cat den, unable to contain his excitement. "Turbulentpaw! I have something to show you!" He called, almost shaking with glee.
Yellow eyes seemed to glow from within the depths of the dim medicine cat den, as the older cat came bounding inwards his words ringing out. Turbulentpaw's large ear flickered towards him, but he seemed rather unphased by the excitement in the other cat's words. "and what might that be?" he questioned, barely glancing up from his herb sorting.
If something had been wrong, this was not the tone he would have been projecting. He carefully moved herbs into their designated pile, knowing that Brightpaw would return soon enough with more herbs that would also need to be put into the correct place.
"It's not as exciting if I tell you little one." Coyoteway purred, tone dropping lower, into something darker and more teasing. That former exuberance fading away now that it was just Turbulentpaw and himself within the dim den. Claimed by the shadows inside and the sedate atmosphere of a space often occupied by very few at a time. "But I'm sure you'll find it an interesting experience. I would even go as far to say it will help with your training if you come along with me and at-least humor what I have to show you."
Even though he had a lot to do, he carefully placed the herbs back into the crooks with a sigh "Very well, I will just finish this at a later time"
He rose to his tall skinny stick-like legs, his lack of fur making his every imperfection even more apparent as his smoother skin slid over the muscles and skeleton below. His mind began to wonder about what it was that Coyoteway wanted to show him that would help him with his training. Had it been another cat, he probably would have just dismissed them, but a black hand member was not someone that you turned away lightly.
"Perfect." He purred, voice wrapped in sin and dipped in decadence. "Come along then, we have to hurry though. I'm not sure how long the surprise will.. last so to say." With that rather ominous statement he spurred on into a quick pace. Easily eating up distance and knowing the medicine cat would keep up. The scent of blood reached them first, almost drowning out the heavy scents that marked their border. As they drew closer and the loner he had left behind could hear them the soft cries could be heard next, a whispered plea for help arriving to their ears next. Though those sounds fell silent when Coyoteway pushed back into view. "I told you I'd be right back darling!" He hummed as his paws carried him to stand over the loner and look down at her. Before his head lifted and his golden eyes turned to pin Turbulentpaw, waiting and expectant of his reaction.
The young cat was slow at first, but as the scent of blood reached his nose he found his paws moving faster and faster.Why hadn't he just said someone was hurt? He had to bite his tongue, but as the figure came into view it was clear that this was not a NightClan cat.
He came to a sudden stop, blinking.He took a tenitive step forward, bending down cautiously to give the cat a swift look over. If it had been a clan-mate he would not have hesitated to treat them, but he didn't know this cat or what they had done to be so injured "What happened to you?" he asked, curiousity winning out over his caution. Even though he wasn't much of a fighter, a cat in such a state didn't pose much of a threat.
A wheeze escaped them, before a garbled mess escaped from the mangled ruins of their broken jaw. Works falling like broken china, leaving them unable to even begin to piece together what they might have been. Distressed green eyes peered towards the unique looking tom, the she-cat looking for a savior from the trickster he stood beside. Ruined features, which might have once been beautiful, now torn by the harsh wood of an ancient branch. Lured to take a climb and pushed from the heights they were goaded to dare to reach. Shock helped dull the pain but couldn't take it all away, their heart stuttered as Coyoteway shifted, worried he would be finishing the job.
"Who knows, I found her like this and thought it'd be an interesting quandary for you. Will you help her or put her out of her misery Turbulentpaw?"
He didn't answer at first, instead looking over the she-cat carefully. Could she be saved? Before he tried, that was the first logical question. Her injuries were extensive, but it wasn't exactly a death sentence with care. He looked over at Coyoteway and blinked "Well she can be helped, so why would I put her out of her misery?" he trotted over to one of the trees to begin gathering some cobwebs to start treating her injuries.
He didn't really understand what was going on here nor the question. He was NightClan's medicine cat, his duty was to heal the injured and to ease suffering when it was not. Perhaps Coyotway thought her injuries were worse than what the were? That would make sense, he wasn't trained in healing.... But he was a member of the black hand... surely he would know the difference. right?
"How... boring." Coyoteway sighed, a little disappointed with the apprentice's choice. "It seems you still have a bit of ways to go." Shaking his head he nudged the apprentice to the side with his fuller form. "You would put her out of her misery because she's not a Nightclan cat, what use will she have to us if you heal her? None Turbulentpaw. Healing her is wasting resources we can't afford in leaf bare. And her care will be extensive, she will need attention for more than a day, which would mean you need to bring her back to camp. But would Burningstar allow you to heal a loner in camp?" He pinned the apprentice with sharp eyes, tilting his head. "Are you willing to fight that far for one life? Waste time on this when it could be spent elsewhere helping your clan."
Turbulentpaw had to admit that Coyoteway had a point, however he felt like this decision wasn't his to make. Burningstar was the leader of the clan, not him. His job was to heal those that needed it, not to decide who was deserving of care. If they got her back to camp and the leader threw her out, well it wouldn't weigh on his mind.
"It is up to Burningstar to decide who gets treatment, and what the wort of this cat is. She is the leader, I am the medicine cat" he replied, as he began to bind the worst of her wounds. The care that he had started was the minimum required to get her stabalized enough to be moved.
"Not to mention that leaf-bare is almost over, and our herb stock is doing very well. With myself, Brightpaw, Bleakwind, and Bruniaberry collecting herbs we have quite enough stocked up. I also only have one patient at the current moment, so time is not an issue either" he looked over at the older cat, waiting to see what he would say next. While Coyoteway had a point, so did Turbulentpaw. He was logical if nothing else "She should be taken to Burningstar, so that she may give judgment"
"We shouldn't waster Burningstar's time don't you think." Coyoteway hummed as he slowly circled around the prone she-cat who's breaths had evened as she recieved care, a new hope being born in her eyes at Turbulentpaw's perceived kindness. Almost as if she forgot the coyote circling her, forgot the vicious cackle that had rang out as she fell. "Honestly Turbulentpaw," the chausie tom sighed as he turned doe eye golden gems towards the apprentice. "I went through all this trouble and it turns out it was for nothing." With those words the paw he had been absently petting the she-cats head with slid to her neck. Sharp claws curled out digging through her fur to pierce her skin. The she-cats eyes widened and her feet kicked as she realized what was about to happen, blind panic driving her. But there was no true time for her to save herself, Coyoteway's claws dug from one side of her neck to the other, carving out a smile. He kept eye contact with the medicine cat apprentice the whole time. "Well I guess there is no decision to be made anymore now is there."
His eyes narrowed, but he didn't flinch as the tom finished off the cat that he had just been treating. He had suspected that perhaps that cat had something to do with he injuries, but the tom's words and actions confirmed that. "No I suppose not" he took a step backwards so that there was room between himself and the newly made corpse.
It wasn't necessairly the killing that Turbulentpaw had issue with, more the fact that Coyoteway had acted with authorization from Burningstar "Although you have saved me the trouble of stabalizing and trying to move her, this does mean that your actions will be reported of course" he shrugged his shoulder
