Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Cynder's voice was rugged as she spoke, as if it hadn't been used in a long while. She had been silent since she realized that Kerrigan wasn't coming back, and it had been two days. She hadn't eaten, she hadn't slept. She was falling apart. But, there was a determination that was clear in her gaze. She was going to find Kerrigan.
"I'm leaving tonight, if you are," she meowed to the older cat. If anyone was going to travel with her to find Kerrigan, it was going to be her father. Even then, though, she was unsure he would.
Elisio's mouth twisted. "I..." He'd been half-expecting something like this to happen ever since Kerrigan had begun her reign - not that he didn't have absolute faith in his daughter's capabilities, because anyone who knew him even half-decently would list that as one of his defining character traits, but things like this had a habit of befalling their family, often at the most inconvenient times. He'd always thought that when - if something did ever happen to his daughter, he'd be the first person to disregard his orders and chase after her. So why was it that he now found himself hesitating? Was he scared of not being able to find her? Or was he scared of what, or who he might find instead?
But even if he was terrified at facing the fact that his daughter might no longer be among the living, he couldn't abandon Cynder. Cynder, who closed herself off from her Clanmates, who would gladly betray them if it meant she could get ahead but had always remained unflinchingly loyal to the crown, didn't appear to be doing so well. Certainly doing better than Elisio at least, although that wasn't a particularly high bar he'd set. "...Of course," he nodded, his mind made up. "I wouldn't dare abandon her." Or you, he thought to himself, though he was fairly certain Cynder would leave without him right then and there if he dared to voice that remark.
If Elisio wouldn't admit that he was afraid he wouldn't find her, Cynder would be the first to admit it. She was terrified that Kerrigan simply ceased to exist. She was confident that the she-cat was somewhere out in this world. Cynder felt that she would have felt her soul shatter if Kerrigan's presence ceased to exist in this plane. Thus, there was a feeling, one deep in her gut, that the former Tsar was out there. She was out there, but that didn't mean that Cynder would find her. The grey cat would never be able to live with herself if she didn't find her orange friend, the first cat who ever cared for the orphan. She wouldn't be able to survive the crushing guilt of not protecting her, not being there. The guilt already ate her alive; if Cynder hadn't let Kerrigan leave alone... It had been part of the reason that Cynder looked the way she did- she hated herself. Every day that she survived, she hated herself more. If only she had gone with her. She could have protected her from whatever it was that separated them.
When Cynder heard the tom's words, she let out a breath that she hadn't realized that she had been holding. A weight lifted from her shoulders; at least she wouldn't have to look for her alone. Cynder would have gone off even if Elisio would have denied her, but she wouldn't have survived long before she threw herself off a high place. She knew that about herself. That had been the reason that she had asked him; he would keep her accountable. They would look for her together and it would mean Cynder would never be able to give up. At least, that's what she told herself. Deeper, she knew there was another reason she asked the tom, but it was a reason she'd never admit to: she loved him.
"She's out there somewhere," she meowed, although she didn't sound sure. "I have traveling herbs in her den." Cynder slept in Kerrigan's den each night, trying to get closer to her, ast if that meant anything. "We will take them and we will leave. And we will find her."
