Giving Pebblefur a nod of greeting, Sundapple followed Graythorn out of camp, content to focus on getting her fur to lie flat. It wouldn't do to for her Clanmates to see her so unnerved.

Ravenstar watched Frostmouse with her grey eyes and she rose to her paws and thought deeply for a few moments. This was an isolated freak incident, surely, but there was a pit forming in her stomach and her instincts told her that something was not quite right about all of this. Something else told her that something bigger was in the works, but then again she had been horrendously paranoid ever since her lives ceremony.
She glanced at Cloudyday as he spoke and stepped forward. "I want you and another warrior to guard the nursery and you are free to choose whoever you see fit. I will station an extra guard at the camp entrance for the time being as well. I want to be sure we have eyes around the camp. " She decided it would be fitting to ask him as he was a father to kits in the nursery and he would not take their safety lightly, not that any of Summerclan would.
The jet black leader did not wait for his response before pushing out of the den and glancing around for her deputy. "Where is Tuskblood?" She asked the group of apprentices nearby who were huddled together with eyes wide open with fear. A silver tabby, Ghostpaw, shook his head and looked around for the beastly cat.

"Do you think the nightmares are a sign?" Pebblefur questioned as they left camp, nxiety running through her body as she remembered the startling cries from Frostmouse. No one got nightmares that bad. At least, none that she had ever witnessed. It must have been a very scary dream...or warning.
(Should we start a seperate thread for collecting herbs?)
(I'll leave that up to Uni-Q.)
Graythorn had set the branch down next to some thyme plants and huffed. "A sign?!" he repeated skeptically. His tail waved wildly, whipping the tall grass behind him. "A sign of what? Only maybe a sign of an overwrought queen who hasn't gotten enough rest." One glance at the gray tabby could tell the dullest of cats he wasn't happy. He looked down at the thyme and then back to the two she cats. "Take only half of the leaves from each plant. I want more to be here when I need them later. Then put the leaves inside the hollow log. I'm going to check on the chamomile."
Pebblefur frowned when Graythorn thought her suggestion was dumb. He was clearly unhappy and she didn't want to make him more upset. She crouched down and started plucking a few stems of thyme.
"W-what...? What's...g-going...on?" A frazzled slender brown she-cat stumbled warily out of the apprentice's den, her claws digging into the earth as if she was clinging on for dear life with every step she took. Her normally bright and eager yellow-green eyes were clouded over, fluttering open and closed every few seconds as if she was about ready to fall asleep where she was standing. By all appearances, it looked as if Ravenstar's apprentice hadn't slept in days, and they wouldn't be wrong. It was all Mudpaw could do, to keep those horrid nightmares out of her head. They were worse than any she ever had as a little kit! Her gaze swept blankly across the camp's clearing, not seeming to notice the shocked expressions of her clanmates staring back at her.

Cloudyday gave the leader a nod and beckoned for another warrior to join him.
Tuskblood strode into the camp, a couple of squirrels in her massive jaws. Her thick fur swished as she made her way to the fresh-kill pile and dropped her catch among the others. Despite the nightmares she had been having every night, she was glad to see that she could still contribute to the clan. Her eyes narrowed as she noticed the clearing seemed a bit frantic. What was going on with everyone? She noticed Mudpaw staggering across the camp and jumped over to steady the apprentice with one massive paw. "You look half-dead, young one. What's the matter?" She questioned, concern thick in her growly voice.
Pebblefur frowned when Graythorn thought her suggestion was dumb. He was clearly unhappy and she didn't want to make him more upset. She crouched down and started plucking a few stems of thyme.
Sundapple delicately gathered the thyme as instructed, casting Pebblefur a sympathetic glance.
After gathering some chamomile, the grumpy medicine cat went back over to where Sundapple and Pebblefur were collecting thyme and stuffed the chamomile into the hollow log. "Next we need to get some poppy seeds," he meowed as he looked across the wildflower meadow. "The patch is over there. When you're done here, join me and bring the log with you." He left the two she cats to their work and crossed the meadow. I'll be glad when I can get back to the camp and be done with this job, he thought. Nightmares for StarClan's sake! What'll be next? Bent fur?! Is SummerClan full of frightened kits or warriors? He continued to fume until he reached the poppy patch.

(It's probably best to keep it in this thread so that it is less confusing and people still know they are welcome to join. We will be having the actual plot looking for the cure started here probably this weekend!)
Daggerjuggler, who had been watching from the side, bounded over to stand watch with Cloudyday. His kits may no longer be kits but it was still important they remain guarded in the time being. Whatever was going on was strange and he had no signs of anything being out of the usual with himself.
Noticing Tuskblood over by Mudpaw, she strode over to the two with long, hasty strides. Her grey eyes studied the apprentice for a few moments before making a decision. "Someone escort Mudpaw to Graythorn's den. I think he needs to take a look at you." She told the young cat sternly before immediately turning to her deputy. "Come with me, I need to speak to you." Her tone was firm and filled with an unusual urgency.

Tuskblood motioned for Brackenpaw to come and escort the other apprentice like Ravenstar directed before turning towards the leader. She sensed the urgency in the black cat's meow and gave a bisque nod. "Right, I will follow you." She responded gruffly, glancing back to make sure the two young cats were alright before setting off after Ravenstar. Part of her wondered if the talk had to do with all the racket that she heard earlier. It had sounded like someone was shrieking, so Tuskblood had ended her hunt early.
Brackenpaw padded up to the other apprentice and gave her shoulder a nudge with his nose. "Come on, Mudpaw. I'll help you walk to Graythorn's den."
"I-I'm FINE!" Mudpaw insisted, raising her voice a bit more than she realized. She could feel the fur on her back standing on end under the stares of the Leader and Deputy, but she couldn't hold their gazes for more than a few seconds before her eyes dropped down to stare at her paws. "I'm...I j-just haven't been sleeping well..." she muttered sheepishly, cringing at the memory of the nightmares that had been plaguing her for the past several nights. For several moments she completely spaced out; her stare completely blank until she felt someone nudge her shoulder. "Huh, wha-zat?" The young she-cat blinked a couple of times before recognizing Brackenpaw, and, giving him a tired bu thankful smile, leaned on his shoulder as they made their way to Graythorn's den.

Ravenstar had looked over her shoulder to make sure that Mudpaw had listened to her and her ear twitched slightly at the sudden exclamation and the words that followed. Her apprentice had been seeming extra tired and out of it these days... it only affirmed her decision to ensure that she had a checkup and perhaps some chamomile or something to help her sleep. She nodded with approval as the apprentice walked with Brackenpaw and she moved forward, flicking her tail to indicate that Tuskblood should follow her. Once inside, she sat down and let the silence stretch between them as she gathered her thoughts.
"Something is wrong. Frostmouse thought her kits had disappeared despite being right in front of her and... cats have been acting odd. Have you noticed how lethargic so many of our warriors and apprentices are?" Ravenstar had a bad feeling about all of this, regardless of the actual circumstances.

Graythorn had finished collecting the poppy seeds and looked up to see what was keeping his two helpers. "Hey you two!" he called to Pebblefur and Sundapple. "Are you finished yet? We need to get back to the camp." His irritation could be plainly heard in his voice.

Instead of waiting for the two cats to bring the hollow log to him, Graythorn gathered up his seeds in a carefully wrapped leaf so none would spill out and came over to where Sundapple and Pebblefur were standing. "There," he said as he shoved the package into the log. "Let's get back to camp. I have a feeling that I'll be needed there," he grumbled. He picked up the small log by the vine handle and started back to camp.
Pebblefur followed the medicine cat. "So, when do you think you will get an apprentice?" she asked Graythorn to spark up a conversation and avoid her thoughts on what had happened in camp.
Redfur carried a small blackbird in his jaws when he came upon the other cats, their jaws filled with various strong-scented herbs. "Can I help you guys with anything?" he asked. "I can come back for this fresh-kill."

The grumpy medicine cat set down the small hollow log dangling from his mouth. They were on the edge of the wildflower meadow and he saw some new chamomile growing there. He was going to reply to Pebblefur but before he could, Redfur had come running up. "See these plants here," Graythorn indicated the new growth with his paw. "Pick ten stems and bring them back to the camp." He was upset with himself that he hadn't seen them on his way into the meadow. Without a word of thanks to Redfur, he turned back to Pebblefur. "As for an answer to your question, I don't know. I haven't seen anycat suitable yet." He picked up the log once again and started walking back to camp.
