Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Grendel sat with a self satisfied smirk on his features, watching the other warriors go about their days. They all thought him a model tom, if only they knew. He had thought it would be harder to pretend to be this placid easy going tom, but with how quickly everyone fell into the act he was obviously doing something right. And it didn't tax him nearly as much as he thought either, in fact he rather enjoyed the break from having to constantly watch his back and think hard about what he said.

Ashensnow stretched as she exited the warrior's den. The early Newleaf sun accentuated the gray highlights in her predominantly white fur. It's about time that Leafbare was on the way out, she thought. She wasn't sad in the least to see the colder weather finally beginning to break. As she crossed the camp she noticed Grendel watching the busyness of the cats. She hadn't spoken much to the newer tom since he arrived other than to say hello or good day. Before she realized it, her feet had taken her close to the tom. "Um, hello," she meowed. "Looking for any cat in particular?"
Turning he blinked slowly before giving her a beaming smile, seemingly shaking away the daze that had fallen over him. "No, not looking for anyone actually." He admitted a little sheepishly. "If-fact if I had to admit to what I was doing I'd tell you I was actually just watching." He left it at that, though to most the answer wouldn't be satisfying in the least. Most would want some explanation towards why he was watching, one that Grendel didn't seem inclined to give.

"Watching is a good way to learn about clan life," Ashensnow meowed, assuming that was what Grendel was doing. She wondered if he was feeling awkward being here in Summerclan. "So... how are you adjusting to becoming a clan member? Well, I trust." She had a hopeful expression on her face, one that also showed her genuine interest.
"It's be relatively easy seeing as everyone in Summerclan is so welcoming." Grendel hummed with a small grin. "No one seems unwelcoming which is nice, I had heard bad things about loners joining clans." He admitted with a small shrug. :Even you asking me how I'm adjusting is a pleasant change to my old loner ways."

Ashensnow smiled at Grendel's words. "I'm glad for you then. It's true. Some clans aren't as welcoming as we are. Some think it's a weakness but it really isn't. Summerclan is actually stronger because of it." She paused and looked at the tom thoughtfully. "It must have been hard living as a loner. You know, not having other cats around to help you out when you needed it or just to have companionship." Her idea of being a loner meant isolation from others.
He could have corrected her that he hadn't technically been a loner, in truth had been a member of a feral group of cats. But that might lead towards questions of what the group was like and what they did, and he knew no clan cat would approve. So instead he decided to play along with her assumptions, knowing it was safer and truly just less of a hassle. "You get by. Some days are harder than others, but not much one can do but keep pushing forward. Or do like I did and join a clan."

"You did the right thing," she agreed. "Now you have the support of a whole clan of cats. They'll be there for you as you are now expected to do the same for them. I can't imagine living any other way." She gave him a nice smile. "I'm going out to hunt. Have you seen much of our territory yet?"
"I have but that doesn't mean I'm not opposed to joining you on a hunt." Grendel hummed with a small smile, dipping his head politely. "It never hurts to give back for all the good things you get. And right now the best way for me to give back to Summerclan for them taking me in is by helping hunt and defend the clan to the best of my ability."

"Now you're beginning to sound like a real clan cat!" Ashensnow meowed happily. "You may have seen the territory but I bet you don't know all the good places to hunt yet and I'll be happy to show you a few." The dusty white cat prided herself on knowing several of the best hunting spots all over the territory. "Do you know how to fish? Unlike some clans, we like to fish our streams. SummerClan is a well rounded clan."
"Fishing?" He hummed intrigued. "I don't know how but if you wouldn't mind I'd like to learn. Only if you have time and don't mind teaching me of-course." He rushed to add not wanting to inconvenience her. Not when she had mentioned going to hunt, and probably hadn't been planning on teaching him anything. He knew he wouldn't be bothered to teach another cat anything, but then again he grew up in a different environment and she seemed nice enough.

"Sure, I'd be happy to," Ashensnow replied eagerly. "Actually I think fishing's easier than hunting other prey. The streams have just melted so it's a good time to try to fish. They haven't been bothered since late Leaffall." She was happy to see Leafbare behind them and was looking forward to the promise of warmer weather. "It'll be like training an apprentice but I won't make you clean out the nursery or tend to the elder's ticks," she teased.
