Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Diamondcascade's gaze lifted, round eyes gleaming like the moon they took a glance at, as if, for a moment, they were in a staring match. But as suddenly and without provokation she had lifted them to the celestial body and god, she lowered them, focused them on the sprawling expanse of forest. A sort of grimace stretched across her features, along with a flicker of recollection in her rounded optics. That short moment of observation of the moon had made her forget. She was hunting, and already she could scent not just prey, but fellow felines down the worn trail. It shouldn't have shocked her, and, in fact, it didn't. She knew the path would be a hub of activity, as were most of the major paths she kept to. Of course, they were popular due to the fact they were well identified as a good area for hunting, but it was not a successful hunt that kept her to the more familiar routes. Rather, it served as a necessity, her vague unfamiliarity with the land making traversing it outside of the radius of the most scarred patches of Earth an uneasy adventure and a deadly gamble at best. Who was to say that, when faced with danger in parts of the land beyond her usual grounds she would be able to navigate back easily, or at the very least find some help. She couldn't, that's all she knew for sure, and it gave her enough reason not to take chances.
Giving a sigh under her breath as cold and dry as a new winter breeze, she listened, hearing nothing beyond the faint murmurs of voices much farther ahead, set to a background of the typical chorus of the night. It took ever bit of strength in her body, heavy with resistence, to pad forward into the abyss of forest; the quiet anxiety that she would meet someone ahead on the path a constant maniacle self-destructive whisper in the depths of her primal psyche, a pointless paranoia but so utterly uneasing.
Lureluster's brown features blended well with her environment, so it didn't surprise her when her fellow clanmate did not notice her presence. Unsure of her name, she approached in a calm matter, as to not startle her. "Hello," she said cheerfully, her tale waving the greeting. "I don't think we've met before. My name is Lureluster." she looked upon the she-cat's body, noticing that she was rather tense and an uneasy look occupied her eyes. "Are you lost?" she asked. She quickly followed her statement, "I could help, I mean I don't mean to be mean or make you look silly, I-I was just saying that I'd love to show you parts of the territory if you're g-going adventuring.." she rambled on. Her social skills were never the greatest, as she always stayed to herself. Even as a kit, she was often just doing her own thing. It was a rare occurrence for her to start a conversation herself, but when she could flash her knowledge, she would.
Diamondcascade stopped, a bit stunned and slightly angry with herself for allowing herself to stumble upon another cat, she did try to hard to become completely unnoticeable to other felines. Still, she tried hard to swallow her nerves, and to come across at least a bit amiable. "Um, err, it's-it's nice to meet your Lureluster. My name is Diamondcascade." Her voice managed to hold steady despite her nerves, though it stayed so soft and quiet on would have had to strain to make anything she said audible. Her optics fell to her paws, too nervous to make eyes contact, before trying to continue on.
"And, well, u-um, I was considering, you know, just... Just thinking about straying off some of the major paths around here. I don't do it very often..." She continue to mumbled on, trying to avoid answering the invitation for as long as possible. The answer she wanted to give was that, no, she didn't want help; she was scared enough of exploring the territory, and another person going with her only added more anxiety on top of that. But, although she hesitated for a moment to think, she could find no graceful way of declining the offer. "Err, I mean, if you had to the time to show me around, I'd like it. B-but I'd hate to be a bother, and you probably have a lot of stuff to do..." She said, trying her best but failing miserably at tacitly telling the other she cat she would have much preferred to be left alone.
Lureluster eased a bit and pawed a bit closer. "I'm doing the same!" she replied cheerfully and began a trot deeper into the forest. "Are you coming?" she looked back behind her with an expectant look.
She could hear the roar of an inner sigh play deep within her mind, and while the other she cat's back was turned she grimaced at the emotional pain of being a socially awkward person forced to go out of there natural comfort zone both physically and emotionally. Still, she managed to grab back a look of at least uneasy friendliness right before Lureluster looked back, giving the other warrior a silent, quick nod as she found it in herself to move her feet which had seconds before gone numb with fear.
Diamondcascade closed some distance, though she kept a considerable length between herself and Lureluster. For a while she just let the uncomfortable silence continue, but finally the terror of being seen as a complete weirdo won out in the battle between her common sense telling her to play it smart and keep her mouth shut and the ever prying fear of looking like a complete social outcast. "So, uh... W-where were we planning on going off to again...?" She asked in a slightly shaky voice, only realizing after she asked the question that she had bothered to ask it a little too late.
