Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
(These are the kits of Lightstep and Cardinalheart. Lightstep is currently very angry with Cardinalheart for passing on SpringClan's leadership to Eternalstar whom Lightstep feels was a terrible choice. Despite her displeasure with Cardinalheart Lightstep has no intentions to drag their kits into their conflict)
Lightstep gritted her teeth before letting out a sigh when the kitting concluded and she recovered enough strength to look over the three kits now at her side. One of them was a solid gray, the other a lighter gray tabby with a white belly, and the last one. She paused when she took in the ginger fur that was so much like cardinalheart. She felt a renewed anger at the tom. She wanted to completely cut herself away from him and yet one of their kits had to look like him.
But she forced herself to let out a sigh, she would need to choose names for them. Cardinalheart sure wasn't going to be getting a say. So as she forced herself to relax she began to think of names. Dovekit, for the solid gray cat. Shiningkit for the one that looked a lot like her. When she came to the one that looked like Cardinalheart, she paused.
"I will name you my son, Cardinalkit, in hopes you can be better than what your father turned out to be," Lightstep decided.
(The three kits are as follows, Dovekit is the one open)
Dovekit (wish) - Open - fluffy solid gray she cat with blue eyes
Shiningkit (hope) - gray and white tabby with green eyes taken by hh32597
Cardinalkit (song) - dark red tom with green eyes taken by me
Fawnheart had been next to the queen, helping her deliver. "Those are wonderful names" she mewed sweetly, ignoring what the queen had said to her new son.
Dovekit squirmed into her mothers belly and began to nurse.
Lightstep glanced at Fawnheart waiting to see if the medicine cat would say anything. But when she didn't the gray and white tabby nodded. "Yes, I think so too." She said nosing Cardinalkit in close. "Thank you for helping as always Fawnheart," She purred. She'd seen Eternalstar giving the medicine cat some trouble, and she wanted to reassure her that her efforts did not go unnoticed and were very much appreciated.
Cardinalheart paced near the warriors' den, he knew Lightstep had kitted and he knew that she was incredibly angry with him. He wanted nothing more than to visit the nursery and see their new kits but he also didn't want to anger Lightstep anymore than he already had. He finally worked up the nerve and walked over to the nursery. "Lightstep?" he called out to her quietly, giving a respectful nod to Fawnheart as he slipped slowly into the nursery.
Lightstep's eyes narrowed at him and she immediately swept her tail over her kits to cover them from his sight. "Get out." She hissed at him ears pinning back. Had she not been so sore and tired, and so angry at him for the choice he'd made. She might've been willing to let him meet his newborns. But the moment was tainted by the fact that he'd decided to step down and let Eternalstar reign and pass rules that would lead to the endangerment of the very children she had just given birth to. And that was absolutely unacceptable.
Fawnheart wasnt sure if she should try to escort Cardinalheart out or just leave them alone. Dipoing her head to both of them, she decided that this was not where she needed to be anymore. "I'm glad I can help. I will leave you two alone." Giving one last nod she slipped out of the den.
Lightstep glared at him. "And yet you let her become leader. It wouldn't be a question in the first place, except you failed to prevent that outcome!" She hissed. "But if it'll get you to leave their names are Shiningkit, Cardinalkit, and Dovekit." She said lifting her tail to avoid making her kits uncomfortable.
Before Cardinalheart could formulate a response, Lightstep moved her tail and he glanced down at the kits and was immediately in awe of them. "They look like you!" he whispered excitedly, not wanting to disturb them, they looked so peaceful. "And he looks like me!" he added, his gaze landing on his son.
Lightstep opened her mouth to make some biting response, but seeing the awed look on his face made her hold it back. She glanced down at their children. Shiningkit and Dovekit did favor her in pelt coloring, but Cardinalkit looked like a mirror image of his father. The little ginger tom let out a squeak before squirming closer to his mother, kneading her belly, eyes tightly closed.
