Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
In the league of killers and monsters the lumps in the ground moaned and groaned. In a league of killers and monsters they killed and the lives would spill out like water and the body would turn to corpse. But in this league there was a seer and the lives didn't dissolve like water, but froze over and in a place that only the cold hearted could survive in there was no thawing the lives that were frozen in place in this league. The lives slayed, the runts of every litter, the trespassers and innocents walked among them. But the killers could only see the living and slowly she was realizing that she could see less and less of the living and more of the realm of the dead.
Sable-chan treated them like music, something lovely to listen to, beautiful to feel, but that was it. There was nothing to interact with. Until one unfortunate day where she had the great misfortune of laughing at one of the ghosts jokes and they had all turned to her and from there the music turned to noise.
Now walking through camp there was a river of cats following her wake, all talking, "I can't hear anything..." The tiny black kitten complained over the voices of ghosts chattering.
"Why can't you hear anything?" Kasdeya-chan spoke up from a few mouse-lengths away, her blue and orange eyes confused by the other kittens comment. It seemed pretty quiet in camp to her, and it was an odd comment for the other Youngling to make. "Are you deaf or something?"
She could see the white outline Kasdeya-chan and no detail. She let herself focus on her voice, then her mouth. The after life fell unfolded like clouds parting to reveal the sky and all at once everything was gone leaving only the world of the living in her wake, but for a moment the league was only a whisper to the noise around her. The little fluff ball grinned excitedly at Kasdeya-chan, "Hey thanks, you made it stop, I can see again. I keep seeing ghosts," She explained as though this were a normal thing of life.
"Oh. You're the Resident, right? Is that why you see ghosts?" Kasdeya-chan looked closer at the other she-kit, examining her. She didn't look crazy, though she knew some cats were here in the League. Maybe she really did see ghosts, but Kasdeya didn't really understand how all of that worked.
"I am! But um," Sable-chan lowered her voice to a whisper, "My mom never taught me what that meant. She left before anyone taught me anything about it. I just see so many people who aren't there and when I manage to block it out I feel claws tip toe up my shoulders and I can feel their stares when no one else is there. And now I think they know I can see them. Even though that was the one rule I was told not to do was for any spirits to know my power. Too late I guess."
“Oh.” Kasdeya-chan blinked her mismatched eyes, before shrugging. “I guess that makes sense... you know it sounds a little creepy though, right? No one else can see ghosts.” It didn’t bother her personally, but she did feel a little resentment that Sable had skills that she did not.
"I don't know, I hate how useless it is. I mean sure, I can see them and all that, but when will that ever be useful?" Sable-chan asked, "Maybe in a clan the power would be cool, but we're not interested in the afterlife, no one wants to be able to see all their countless victims. All I can say is I plan to keep my paws clean, I am definitely never killing a cat EVER. They'll just follow me around relentlessly and try to annoy me if I did. Though... I guess if I could somehow bound ghosts to stay by me that would be useful. That way if I killed someone in another clan I could take them back and demand info. I guess my problem is I'm not powerful enough."
"Well you're just a baby." Kasdeya-chan shrugged. "I'm not opposed to killing anyone, but I can't see them once they're dead. Maybe you'll get stronger and train and stuff, and then you can control it. That makes sense, right? It's like any other skill."
"It's hard, no one else has ever had this skill before. I can't predict if I'll be okay, but I would like to get my first kill like everyone else here gets," Sable-chan smiled, "I just don't want it to ruin the rest of my life... I guess I'll have to wait till I'm powerful enough to block spirits if I even wish to. I also don't know if they can hurt me. You've heard the stories right? Of Dark Forest cats capable of hurting people in their sleep, you never know."
