Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Ugh. Oh my gosh, this is just killing me. I mean just look, has anyone ever told you that grey fur was so last season? And I mean what is up with those spiky shoulders, what are you a porcupine? I mean there's a lot of things I can save, but I cannot save that fur cut, I can tell you that much. And what's up with your eyes murky pee stain? I'd suggest eating some vegetables, like c'mon girl take care of yourself. Where were we? Oh right, you were saying something about last words. Yeah, if you could just like, not come onto our territory that would be super because honestly for a kittypet, you could use a bell so we can prepare to see that... Face coming," Sean said.
The sentinel was at the surface border of the Regime with his back pinned against the ground by a massive grey kittypet. She had wanted to explore and at the idea of Sean telling her that she couldn't she had managed to pounce onto him. She hadn't even been sure if she was going to kill him, but now tears were thick in her eyes. Was she really that ugly?
"Uh? Are you going to murder me or just sweat against me, cause I'll take death thank-you very much," Sean practically groaned, watching the she-cat take her time to decide what to do about him.
"As much as 'death via kittypet' would be perfectly fitting for a bat-brain like him, I'm going to have to politely ask you to let him up, dearie."
A charming purr of amusement echoed through the trees before a sleek, black she-cat seemed to appear beside the kittypet from out of nowhere. Neither cat had seen or heard her approaching until she was right there, leering down at Sean with a condescending smirk. Up close, it was notable that the she-cat was quite up there in age; with long, drooping grey whiskers and partially torn ears. But what caught the kittypet's attention the most was the elder's eyes: a faded lavender that she had never seen before in her life.
Eclipse let out a snort as she gently prodded the kittypet with her paw, the younger cat so taken aback that she obliged without a second thought. The entire time, the Veteran's gaze remained on Sean. "Honestly, what does go on inside that head of yours? I think your age has made you blind along with stupid; her eyes are the color of dry summer grass in a bright, open field."
The kittypet's fur spiked up in alarm at the new presence behind her.
"Oh puh lease. Look at them, they're as murky as a toads back side. I'm not going to play nice to a cat that's attempting horribly to kill me," Sean hissed.
"H-Hey! I just wanted to check out more than just my territory, I just thought it would be fun to see more of the land," The kittypet defended herself, but looking between Sean and Eclipse she slowly stepped off of Sean before increasing her speed and fled.
Sean stared up at Eclipse with a knowing smirk, "Aww, you do care."
"If you think I actually give a rat's tail about what happens to you, then you're dumber than I ever thought possible, Sean."
Veteran Eclipse watched diligantly as the fluffy form of the kittypet sprinted away until it was out of sight. The border wasn't too far from here, and if the little she-cat decided to stick around, she'd be caught by a patrol eventually. "As amusing as you getting your hind end kicked by a kittypet would be, I know better than to think that was the case," she stated matter-of-factly, lifting up a paw to casually groom herself. "You were going easy on her, probably just to mock the poor dear. I just stepped in to avoid any unecessary bloodshed." She stopped, turning to glance at the Sentinel with a sickingly-sweet smile. "Besides, if you actually died, I wouldn't have anyone left to hate anymore. And that's just boring."
Sean winked at her with a you-know-me-too-well kind of a gleam in his eyes. He let out a handsome bout of laughter, "Aw. I'd say I hate you, but I've met wayyyy more annoying people that have made me appreciate you. Like my sister and I just hope that if I go to the dark forest when I die that she isn't there with me."
He shifted his shoulders about in the grass before lying more comfortably on his back. He had known Eclipse basically his whole life and the more he thought about it the more he realized he never had any arch nemesis, rivals, or annoying people in his life that were toms, only she-cats. They were the terrifying ones and for a time she-cats truly ruled the Regime, toms hardly got a high rank to their name, now the tides had changed. He wondered if Eclipse noticed that too about recent commanders. He tilted his head slightly as if Eclipse were an abstract portrait he was trying to interpret, feel, know. Something he couldn't understand, "Come lie next to me, I'm bored," he complained more than invited.
Eclipse stared at him for a moment, deciding whether to take him up on his offer or not. Finally, she rolled her eyes and huffed indignantly, padding over and flopping down on her back onto the cold forest ground. "You're lucky I know my mate would never get the wrong idea about this," she snapped, though there was no hostility in her tone. Mild-annoyance at worst. She turned her head and looked up at the treetops above them, watching the leafless branches sway in the wind. She had to give credit where it was due; laying there like this was kinda peaceful.
A few minutes of comfortable silence passed, with the only sounds being the playful chirps of the birds as they hopped and fluttered from tree to tree. Eventually, the thoughts in the Veteran's head couldn't stay quiet anymore, and she spoke, her voice barely a whisper. "You know you won't go to the Dark Forest, right? Pebble would never let that happen to you." Her face was solemn as she considered her old friend, who had been gone for many moons now. Sean was right; a lot had changed in the Regime, and she'd been there to witness all of it.
"I think I am the oldest cat in the Regime now. Is it possible?"
(-actually looks it up- Hey Pebble's creation birthday is March 23rd 2013. Innocentia and Green were created two days after her. Late March is apparently the time of great character creation xD)
Sean stayed remarkably quiet. Through the silence and through her comments, even when she spoke of Pebble he didn't flinch anymore. Nothing about that day ever got better, he just learned to live with it. That he could comfortably live and be with those he loved and he could comfortably die and be with those he missed. For a long time he killed himself wondering why Kotori had become the way he was. If it was him, if he was born insane, if something happened and what happened. Eclipse and him had lost so much that day. Even now Shule and Zakiyyah were both missing and presumed dead, but he had been living with that for moons. Only in this moment did he realize how much he lived for Eclipse to just insult him and for him to be able to talk back to her without either of them staring at each other with any pity.
His ears pricked at her last question. He wrinkled his nose as if visualizing every cats timeline out in his head before giving a firm nod, "Oh it's possible and true."
He thought of making a joke about how he didn't date old she-cats and that was why Haku would know not to get jealous, but he'd let her have this moment. After all it did seem pretty cool to be the oldest survivor of the Regime. Did that make him the oldest tom...? Roon had to be older or Blind Protector help him.
He shut his eyes deciding not to even think about that, "What about you? Do you think if Pebbles wasn't around that the blind protector would let you into heaven?" Sean purred.
(Woah, that's awesome. Also, pretty sure Sean is older than Roon. XD)
The she-cat let out a thoughtful hum, considering the...frankly loaded question. "Probably not," Eclipse answered simply, coming to the conclusion that it was the honest truth. "I served the Regime loyally enough, but when I was younger, I was only in it for the recognition and the glory. Kya, bless her soul, taught me that I couldn't trust anyone except myself; we gossiped and conspired against our Superiors, pulling strings to create our personal visions of glory for the Regime. And then, at the first sign that my perfect life was in trouble, I ran away." That had also been the beginning of her hatred for Sean; him starting a conflict with Primal Instinct that had nearly killed her mate. But now, looking back, it was clear that running away was the last thing she should've done. It showed everyone how selfish she had really been.
"Plus I may or may not have tried to get you killed on multiple occasions. Including, but not limited to, making a deal with your psycho sister. So there's that, too."
Another moment passed as he stared up at the grey skies, "I can't believe you're going to the dark forest," He grinned, "Good thing you met Pebble I guess, otherwise you'd be separated from Haku forever in the afterlife for your sins. I mean, sure I murdered my mate which consequently drove my daughter insane. But you know that was one time in my life so. I guess, that makes me a better person since you've done way worse, right Eclipse? Guess I won in the game of righteousness so far," He teased.
Eclipse let out a snort, which sounded suspiciously like a stifled laugh.
"You do realize that Starclan and the Dark Forest don't actually have a say in our afterlife, right? We have the Blind Protector, who, from what I've been told, gives you the wonderful choices of: void, slightly-less-bad void, and ghost. But apparently, his appearance also changes depending on the cat who sees him, so who knows if those are even accurate." A smile curled on the edges of Eclipse's mouth. "Also, you failed to factor in literally all of your bad ideas that almost killed us all, including but not limited to; stealing tykes from Primal Instinct which directly led to you murdering your mate, the Toxic-Regime, and somehow getting us kicked out of our old tunnels."
"No I'll be okay because with the last breath of my life I'll express remorse and repent for my sins and die peacefully. So whatever bad I did won't matter," Sean said with a boyish smile before flicking Eclipse in the belly and rolling away from her so she wouldn't be able to counter strike, "I know your daughter made a gang dedicated to assassinating me. You raised some real good kiddos too," He smirked, his paw rested playfully across his chin.
