Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Since Fernshadow was also mentoring Frozenfire had instructed her niece to let Frozenfire's new apprentice, Aconitepaw know that she was needed to come train under her.
Frozenfire was rather peeved to once again have to mentor but she'd do it. Under protest still. But she'd still do it.
So the light gray and white she cat sat waiting near the camp entrance for whenever Aconitepaw would drag herself out and over to her.
After cleaning and neatening her fur, flaring the soft cream fur around her throat and smoothing it against her sides, working the moss and grit from between her toes, Aconitepaw was finally ready to begin the day's training. She nosed her nest into order and slipped out of the den. Her mentor's annoyed countenance caught her attention immediately and she offered her a polite smile as she drew near. "Good morning, Frozenfire."
Frozenfire considered her a moment. Awful lot of effort to get herself all dolled up when she was just going to get herself dirty. But the gray she cat flicked her tail and rose to her paws. "Since it's your first day of training under me, and you don't know my expectations I'll let my wait time slide. Tomorrow night though I expect you to be ready for training by sundown." She said sternly, flicking her tail again to beckon Aconitepaw to follow her. "Today we're going to go do some patrolling on the MoonClan border. On the way you can recap me with how you are on your training."
Her ear flicked, but she didn't respond; she wasn't about to make a promise she couldn't keep. Time and Aconitepaw did not get along. She was aware of its existence, but she prioritized herself and her needs over a ticking clock. "Alright," she agreed with a nod, "MoonClan. Got it." She wasn't big on patrolling borders, but at least it wasn't fighting training. She disliked fighting, especially when it was muddy out. She expected herself to get dirty, but mud felt excessively dirty.
"What has your previous mentors taught you? At your age you should be proficient in hunting, and fighting, and nearing the point where you'd be having your assessments. How would you say you are in those two categories?" Frozenfire asked sharply as they walked.
“I can hunt. I can fight...” she considered. “A rogue, maybe. A kittypet for sure. Everyone says clan cats are much harder, though, because they’re also trained. But they don’t want to kill you, so maybe that’s better?” That was a puzzling difference.
Frozenfire snorted, "I wouldn't be so trusting, many clans have decided to write their own code. WinterClan went and stole cats from us remember? You can't be too trusting. So we'll have to do some fighting training then." She mused as they got closer to the border. "And what about hunting?" She asked.
"Theft isn't in the warrior code," she reminded her mentor, tossing her head. She had a point, though, about these strange religions cropping up and sweeping over the clans. Aconitepaw wasn't too excited by the prospect of fighting, but alas, it was a required part of her training. There was no weaseling out of it forever.
"I'm a fine hunter. Quick, capable, whatever you want to call it."
