Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.

2. AGE You must be 13 years old or older in order to be a member of Classic or any other Wikis by Wikifoundry. Due to the COPPA Law, no one under 13 is permitted be a member on Classic. This also applies to those outside of the United States, as Wikifoundy is based in Canada, but its servers are in the United States. Any users who openly state that they are 12 years old or younger will be banned until they are old enough to rejoin the site
We are no longer on Wikifoundry's platform. Perhaps we don't need this rule anymore?
yeah, it was based off of us penal code. i think we should just update it to say provosts and idk it’s not like we ever enforced it anyways we basically just told folks not to have their age on their profile / anywhere because if it can’t be proved that we knew are we really breaking the law
via google: COPPA imposes certain requirements on operators of websites or online services directed to children under 13 years of age, and on operators of other websites or online services that have actual knowledge that they are collecting personal information online from a child under 13 years of age.
But, yeah, all people have to do is like, not state their age if they're under 13.

Actually people have been banned from Classic in the past because of this rule. It should still be enforced.
I think it should still be enforce. Especially with some of the language on here that we are allowed to use may not be that okay for someone that age. Plus, I feel like its a liability thing. If a child under 13 gets on here and we have a serious issue come out of it, will they shut down this site? I think its better safe than sorry. Many other sites have that rule too, including facebook. And although facebook does give away a lot more of your information than this website, I think it would just be safer to not allow anyone under 13 to join in.

I think this is solid enough reasoning to keep the rule. Perhaps it should simply be reworded, then, since we are not a wiki community any more.

I agree that we should keep the rule and enforce it if the knowledge arises that someone is under the age of 13, but we don't necessarily need to be checking and asking for ages. Updating the wording would be nice too for consistency as valiance and I think a few others have stated.

Would this draft be acceptable?
2. CHILDREN'S ONLINE PRIVACY PROTECTION ACT (HYPERLINK) You must be 13 years old or older to be a member of our community. Any users who openly state that they are younger than 13 will be banned.
I have taken out "until they are old enough" because, reading through the hyperlinked document, we are not allowed to collect any sort of information from children under 13. Holding records of their birthday would violate the law, so we are not allowed to do that without permission from parents or guardians.
I feel like "openly" should be more defined. What I mean is: even if it's in a PM and not in a thread, it should still be held accountable. Technically, a screenshot of them stating that they're not 13 wouldn't be against the law?

A screenshot of them stating they are not 13 is still against the law because users have been made aware of it as well as staff. Screenshots are a form of evidence unless it is obvious it has been tampered with. They have still openly stated their age to a member of the site who then reported it in that situation.

Maybe this way?
2. CHILDREN'S ONLINE PRIVACY PROTECTION ACT You must be at least 13 years old to be a member of our community. Any users who admit to being younger than 13 will be banned.
If they don't admit to it, and nobody knows they're 13... then it shouldn't be a problem for us, right?!
