Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Pain. He felt less of it everyday. It was not something he would wish upon his worst enemy... or would he? The tom shook his head. Morals were becoming a thing of the past too. It was by the far the worst part. He could feel them slide out from under his grasp every day, and there was nothing he could do. Perhaps this was the rest of his life. Omega stared wistfully into the sparkling water beneath him. Part of him wanted to stay in the Oasis for the night to be torn apart by an ocelot, but the burning sensation where he soul once was forced him to reconsider. At this point, he had no afterlife. There was no point in dying.
Solaris had gone for a solo patrol for the late afternoon, and the ginger tabby now approached where Omega was sitting, a clump of moss held firmly in his jaws. The Warden paused to watch the other tom, amber eyes faintly curious. When he didn't move for a few moments, Solaris strode up beside him, a few mouse lengths away. He dropped the moss into the water of the Oasis, watching as it swelled. "Hello, Omega. You seem distant today. Something on your mind?" His words were light and cordial, his gaze focused on his moss.
The former Stratego did not hear the Warden approach. He was truly lost in his thoughts until he heard a faint sound. His ear swiveled to face the Warden as he raised his head from the pool. His sea blue eyes shifted from the water to the tom next to him. "Nothing you need to concern yourself with." There was another by product of his incident. He had lost some of his tact in casual conversations, yet he felt more manipulative in... professional cases. Perhaps not caring had some benefits.
Solaris' ear twitched back at Omega's words, though whether he be amused or affronted neither emotion crossed his face. He simply sat for a moment, watching the water lap lazily at the edge of the pool. "I don't believe there is much happening in the League that doesn't concern me. But I don't ask out of obligation, I ask merely out of concern." He let the silence hang for a moment before continuing on. "If you don't want to talk about it, we can speak about more trivial things. How are you liking Primal Instinct?"
He was an odd pick for Vera. She always favored her own over everyone else, yet he was still picked out of the crowd. He was not even ruthless enough to keep the League's new legacy going. Solaris did not have the tom's support. Granted, hardly anyone could match the ruthlessness of Vera. As much as he hated her at a personal level, she made a great leader for a group like the league. "Sure, you ask out of concern. You ask out of concern for your own skin, so don't try making it about me and how I feel."
Solaris arched an eyebrow with a deadly amusement. He had no qualms about killing Omega if he began to present trouble-he had offed his enemies before and would do it again. But he wasn't an impulsive tom, and he couldn't discern whether this statement emerged from true resentment or simply a surly mood. "Bold words for an untouchable, and an initiated cat at that." He said quietly, not deigning to look at the other tom again. "Trust me, I am not worried about myself."
He chuckled and shook his head. He was not under whatever illusion the Nemesis was pushing on him. The tom knew, now more than he ever did before, what was real and what was fake. "You and I both know your stupid ranks do nothing to separate strength from weakness. It's all about who is most loyal to you." His voice gradually rose from borderline civil into something more like a growl. "Don't worry about my initiation. All it means is I know ways to kill that you have never even dreamed of." He lifted his gaze from the serene waters to glare at the Warden. It was not his intent to lose his temper, but Solaris irritated him beyond words.
"Careful, Omega. You're getting closer to treason with those words." True, he wasn't the Nemesis yet, but he knew of Vera's plans and he wasn't expecting to remain Warden for much longer. The ginger tabby finally raised his amber eyes to return the glare with a cold gaze. "You seem to forget that Vera chose me. I'm not sure what misgivings you have against me, but I have no doubt they are deluded and uninformed. I want nothing but the best for the League, which Vera knew, and is why she selected me. You also seem to be under the impression that I would let you live long enough to kill me. Your bravado is a gallant effort, but ineffective."
He smirked and shook his head. "Treason is not a concern of mine. I've deserted plenty of groups in my life, as I am sure you will do in your future. Times, and competent leaders, change. If I didn't like your leadership style, I would just leave. There's no use in fighting a broken system." He turned his gaze away looked back into the oasis. "That being said, I came here for a reason. Your cats are cold, emotionless, and mindless killers. I mean that in the best way I possibly can. I adore how Vera brainwashed all of her playthings into fighting her personal war. I couldn't have done it back in the day myself." He paused. "As for killing me, I wouldn't try. I only have to kill you once. You'd have to kill me... a number of times."
Solaris wasn't fazed by the fact that Omega held multiple lives for he would too, soon- though he didn't voice this. "Better for you to leave quietly than cause trouble. Just a fair warning." He flicked an ear, letting the issue drop. "I've always admired Vera. She brought the League up from the ashes, formed a more cohesive group. But her way isn't the only way, and things may change around here. It's your decision if you want to leave after all the work you put in to stay here."
