Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The small ginger she-cat trotted confidently up to her new apprentice, Firestorm was no newbie to mentoring, it was something she felt she was quite good at to be exact, and in her mind the best way she could serve her Clan; making sure NightClan had seasoned, skilled warriors for the generations to come. "Ready to head out?" she asked, her tail tip twitching in anticipation.
Spiderpaw waited on his new mentor to appear with a smile. He had not really had a chance to speak with her before so this was something new for both of them "I am"
(No you're good!! Normally I send a message with the link but I slacked off this time, my fault really! lol)
"Excellent! Let's head out then!" she responded cheerfully. "Where did you leave off in your training?" she asked him. "I don't want to bore you with reteaching everything you've already learned." she added.
How did one sum up their training thus far? It wasn't really and easy question to answer in a few words "Well we practiced hunting and fighting... I spent a lot of time sparring with my training partners, but I was the last cat added so I guess I am getting a new one as well. " he paused not really sure what else to say.
"As you wish" he replied, stepping to the side to allow his new mentor to take the lead. The large black tom had never really been one to take the lead, at least if only members of his own clan were involved.
Firestorm picked up her pace until she was loping swiftly through the forest, checking over her shoulder occasionally to make sure Spiderpaw was keeping up. Before long the soft babbling of the stream caught her attention, it was a peaceful and relaxing sound to Firestorm. She stopped and scented the air, she easily picked up the scent of squirrel and vole. "You find the vole and I'll find the squirrel?" she suggested to Spiderpaw.
Taking in the scent in the air, it wasn't hard for him to identify the vole and squirrel. They seemed to be close by, so he nodded, dropping into a hunter''s crouch. The last thing he wanted to do was to make an embarresing mistake in front of his new mentor.
His black fur slid smoothly over his muscles as he moved, each step calculated and careful. Using his nose, he moved towards his target until it came into view. He waited patiently as it came scurrying towards him. When the moment was right he leapt. Ending its life with a single bite, managing to keep any noise to a minimum.
Firestorm balanced carefully on the branch of a tree, the squirrel was still oblivious to her, perched only a foot or so away. With a carefully calculated leap she snatched the squirrel and landed back on the ground. "Nice catch!" she said, acknowledging Spiderpaw's vole. "Why don't we hunt for just a little bit longer and then we'll work on battle practice." She said, nosing the squirrel under a nearby bush to keep it from view of other predators.
"You to' he had to admit that he admired her being able to catch the squirrel in the tree. He had never seen another cat do that before "How did you jump to that branch so quietly, and without the squirrel feeling the movement"
"I spent way more time up in a tree during my apprenticeship than I would have ever liked to." Firestorm replied half amused. "I used to be terrified of heights and climbing and once my mentor figured that out it was all downhill from there. I barely even learned any battle moves until I was comfortable climbing and being in a tree, then I had to learn how to hunt in the tree. It's a skill that has served me well at times, but not really necessary. Unless you want to learn it." she said. Truthfully she wasn't one much to torment her apprentices on their weaknesses, but to improve upon them.
"I had never thought about it, but I suppose it would be a good thing to learn" he admitted. He wasn't really afraid of climbing, but he was always looking for new skills to master. This would just be one of many he was sure. If he was going to have multiple mentors, he might as well learn all theri strengths.
