Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Scout Cadet Skye was feeling a little frisky on this brisk morning, having failed to calm his energetic brain though his normal morning hunting. So now he was absently making his way through the tunnels, looking for someone to bother.
Mercenary Cadet Mirage was padding silently through the tunnels, her dark black pelt helping her to blend in when she saw Scout Cadet Skye bounding towards her. She smirked to herself before deciding now would be a good time to pounce and landed directly on Skye. "Gotcha!" She chirped playfully.
The gray tabby tom rolled with the impact, but his small frame was built for stealth, not battle. He peered up at the newcomer with his lively green eyes, firmly pinned beneath her. "Oof... lemme up!" He said indignantly, but a smile was growing on his face. "You got me, you got me."
Mirage relented and let Skye up. "You know for a Scout I thought you would have seen, heard, or smelled me before I found you!" she teased him playfully.
Affronted, Skye let out a huff. "I wasn't in hunting mode! I totally would have noticed you beforehand if I was really focused." Skye grinned as he spoke, his gray ear flicking back. "What are you doing out here hunting down others anyway?"
"Ha!" Mirage responded, Skye's question throwing her off her guard. What was she doing? She responded again with a shrug. "I got bored and wandered off." she replied nonchalantly.
"From what? Are you skipping duty?" He teased, shifting between his front paws as he spoke. He liked this she-cat so far- she seemed to be able to keep up with his intense energy.
"Maybe, maybe not." He grinned broadly, a badgering gleam in his eyes. "I already caught a lot of mice today anyway. Hey, have you been up to the surface lately?"
Mirage shook her head. "No, I haven't." She responded. "Truthfully I prefer to stick to the tunnels." she added. The tunnels were like a security blanket, something she didn't want to leave, but she'd eventually have no choice.
"Why? You don't want to see what's up there? Are you scared or something?" Skye raised his eyebrow, tilting his small head as he looked closely at Mirage. She was a mercenary, wasn't she? Weren't they supposed to be the bravest of all?
"No, I'm not scared!" Mirage replied firmly. "I just blend in better in the tunnels! Have you ever been up there?" she asked. Truthfully if he'd already been up there then she'd almost have no choice but to go as well, for as much as she didn't want to leave the safety of the tunnels, she also wasn't going to be out done by a fellow cadet.
"I definitely have." Skye was lying, but he had a sudden urge to impress Mirage. "I'll take you up there right now, if you're too scared to go alone." The gray cadet gave her a charismatic grin, bright green eyes focused on her.
"I'm not scared!" Mirage responded boldly, despite the fact that they both knew she was in fact, scared. "But let's go!" She added, playfully, suddenly slightly excited about the idea of exploring a new place.
"Alright!" Skye's tail tip flicked with excitement as he turned to where he vaguely thought the exit tunnel was, waving Mirage forward with his tail. "Just follow me. I'll protect you." He grinned brightly as he moved through the dampness of the dirt tunnels, winding a path to the surface.
"You're a scout, like me, I doubt you know any more battle moves than I do." she replied half sarcastically, but Skye's confidence made her feel a little more at ease heading out of the tunnels for the first time.
"Pfft." Skye dismissed her critique without actually addressing it, ears perking as he saw the light of the surface at the end of the tunnel. "What do you think we'll see up there? A badger? Rabbits? Monsters?"
"Out of all the things you just listed, I hope we only see rabbits!" Mirage responded, her eyes wide as they approached the end of the tunnels. Her eyes picked up faint traces of light from the outside world, her anxiety turning into excitement at the thought of exploring something new.
Skye found his heart beating a bit faster, anxious finally at the idea of facing the unknown. "Maybe I want to see birds too." He admitted, trying to distract himself from the feeling of apprehension as the light grew bigger. "I've never seen any... the last few times I was up there, I mean." He added hastily, whiskers twitching.
