Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Eternalstar watched Empiricalpaw's departure, waited until the young thing was safely slipping from camp before she pushed over towards the orphans den. Having orchestrated this moment throughout the day, having pushed and pulled strings so she could claim Eeriepaw's attention alone. The stripped tabby with his skeletal build and large bug like green eyes, a sight that drove others to tilt their heads as they tried to puzzle him out.
She enjoyed the look of the young tom though. Found it a nice change of pace from the same old boring pelts and blending looks of Springclan. His mind though, that drew her like a moth to a flame. The leader enjoyed survivors, enjoyed having them as her own. And Eeriepaw and his siblings were survivors with bonds forged in blood.
Safety was a foreign word to the small tom, even as he curled up in the corner of the new den. There was no stench of blood, no one lurking around the corner to harm him. It seemed like paradise. That's why Eerie-ete couldn't trust it. It was too good to be true, like a thin sheet of cloth was cloaking the true horrors that were yet to be known. Yes, it was better than the life he had previously had, but this was unknown territory, led by the daughter of the devil. He couldn't trust any words, any sights or experiences. Eternalstar may have fooled Exotic into believing she was their savior, but Eerie-ete knew better than to trust her.
He scooted closer to the corner, if such a feat were possible, and began imagining. What if they had truly escaped Cicero on their own? Would they have managed to build a home for themselves? A true home, where safety didn't have to be faked. Where they could be happy from the bottom of their shattered hearts.
She shadow proceeded her into the den, the sun casting it forward like a herald of death. Her mismatched eyes, so much like her fathers, searched the small space and lit up upon seeing the shape curled up in the furthest corner, the darkest corner. "Eerie-ete." She hummed softly, curious if he would recognize another presence within his space or if he had escaped so deep into his mind she would have to work harder to dig him out. That thought brought another one; what was he thinking of? But he held his inner-thoughts close, during their journey back to Springclan she had gained nothing on the sort of dreams he escaped into.
The sound of his name threatened to break him free of his dreams, and his ear flicked as if to throw away the voice. Why couldn't Eternalstar see that he was perfectly happy in his own world? Why must she drag him back to reality? He closed his eyes again, attempting to go back to that peaceful world, but the knowledge that Eternalstar, the spawn of the devil, was standing behind him took even the illusion of safety away. Barely managing to suppress a groan, Eerie-ete turned his blank stare to the she-cat. "Is there something you need me for?"
"Why yes Eerie-ete, there is something I need you for. I'm glad you asked." She purred eyes narrowed and dark. Obviously mocking, loving the toms refusal to play her games but how he had little choice in the matter. "I thought we could start our one on one training now. I've been thinking about the best things I could pass on to you to help you when you become an apprentice and I'd like to get started on sharing them." She waved her tale, a silent request, or more accurately order, to follow her.
Eerie-ete fought back a frown at his lack of choice. Instead, he decided to have his own fun, and parted his jaws in a loud yawn before slowly standing up, taking his time to stretch. If this was how it was going to be, he would make sure to waste Eternalstar's time. Once he finished stretching, the small tom rubbed his eyes just as his stomach growled. Unplanned, but beautiful timing. Feinting embarrassment, he lowered his eyes, pawing the ground in a nervous manner. "I, uhh... seem to have not eaten anything yet."
"Perfect!" Eternalstar hummed, eyes dancing in poorly hidden glee. "Off we go then, this can be your first lesson. You'll eat whatever you manage to catch today." If those who had opposed her idea to promote the kits at 3 moons old heard this comment they would no doubt gain more supporters in their distaste for the idea. But there was no one to overhear and she was confident no one would believe Eerie-ete if he told. "Come along, the faster we start the quicker you can have a meal." She lead the way across camp, curious if he would follow at a quicker pace now.
If Eternalstar thought that would make him play along, she was wrong. He moved slowly, making a show of yawning whenever he could. "I think it would be much easier to catch something if my stomach didn't scare everything in the territory away, don't you?" he said between yawns, his tail drooping along behind him. His empty eyes met those of passing warriors, as if daring them to speak against their leader in his support. Again, his stomach growled, louder than before, helping his point.
Letting out a short, annoyed sigh Eternalstar turned to him. She couldn't very well drag him out of camp by his ear, nor could she claim the warrior code said apprentices ate after they hunted. She never enforced the warrior code, had thrown most of it away to suit her needs. "Very well then, eat quickly." She purred looking the picture of benevolent amused leader. But she would punish him for such insolence later.
Letting out a small purr of approval, Eerie-ete quickly went to grab a small mouse, enjoying his brief moment of peace. He knew that he would pay for his actions during this training, but for now he was satisfied with his small victory. He finished up as fast as he could, realizing that there was a limit to how long he could waste Eternalstar's time, then returned to her side. "I'm ready now, I believe."
"Great! Come along now so we can finally get started." She purred as she waved her tail and set off, soundly oddly kind for the situation. But she was a wonderful actor and there would be no way she would let Eerie-ete know how he was getting under her skin and causing irritation to crawl along her spine like ants. "we'll start with some battle training!" She beamed over her shoulder towards him as she lead him towards the training hollow.
