Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Empiricalpaw sat tall outside the orphans den, a cramped little thing shoved where there had been room; sandwiched between the leaders den and the medicine cats den. Luckily as of right then it was only Empiricalkit and her adopted brothers in the den. The space was also better than the accommodations, if one could call them that, that they were hidden away in while with Cicero's group of psychopaths. She knew their pelts still bore the scars of those days, and she dearly hoped they weren't on their way to making more.
It had been an almost easy thing to protect Eerie and Exotic back then, their tormentors rage easily distracted and thoughts slow. While she didn't yet know the reasons Eternalstar had for taking them away she feared guarding against them would be difficult. The she-cat an obviously planner, one that would most likely not be distracted or discouraged by taunts, or goaded to anger. Regardless though Empiricalpaw knew better than to trust the leaders kindness. Knew it came with a price.
Shouldering his way out of the den, Eerie-ete paused next to his sister to glare at the camp. If this was to be their life now, then so be it, but he refused to be caught up in whatever game Eternalstar was playing. One day, he swore, he would figure out her plans. Perhaps it was nothing, and his trust in others had simply been shattered into dust, much like his heart felt. Heaving a sigh, he gave a quick side glance at Empirical-ete. "So this is it? We just blindly follow her now?" he asked, returning his glossy gaze back to the rest of the camp.
Empirical-ete let a sardonic grin curve her features, though it came mostly unbidden. "We should certainly pretend to at the least." She let it hang, as she considered the best way to phrase her next words, knowing Eerie wouldn't like them. "She obviously wants us to feel indebted to her, and I will certainly pretend to be following into her so carefully laid traps. It's better to set off the ones I can see than accidentally wander into the ones I can't"
Eerie-ete let out a sort of snort, his lips curving up with distaste. "I would much rather avoid the traps altogether if I could," he replied. There was a hint of a growl in the undertone of his voice that he didn't attempt to hide. "I'll do my best to pretend, like you say, but I can't promise I'll be convincing."
"Maybe it would be best if you're not." The words escaped her while the thought was still unfinished. Her mind turning it over before she hesitated to say more, though she knew she couldn't leave it handing out there like that. "Maybe you're obviously skepticism would help hide the ruse of Exotic and I playing into her plans. It would help hide our own deception if you stood obviously in firm opposition of her."
Eerie-ete's mouth turned upward into a grin, and a spark of mischief shone in his normally blank eyes. "Now that," he nodded, pausing for effect. "That, I think I can do. Of course, now you two are left with the hard part. Think you can handle it?"
"I don't think I can't handle it." Empirical-ete replied in her naturally cryptic way, though it fell sort of short when she was still so young and obviously trying to seem clever. Not that she wasn't clever per-say, but it was hard for others to think you truly cryptic when you still didn't know how to catch prey. "I suppose time will tell, because we still have no idea if Eternalstar is playing a long con or a short one after all."
With a humorless chuckle, Eerie-ete sat down, his tail wrapping around his small frame. He was never a fan of games or riddles, preferring straight answers over anything. "If I had to guess, I think she's setting up for something. A long-term plan of some sort. I don't know what she's up to, but I will find out." He turned his bleak gaze to his sister, his eyes glittering with determination. He believed what he was saying, his mind in the real world for once.

"I heard my name."
A low, soft-spoken voice sounded behind them and Exotic-ete emerged from the undergrowth. His expression was difficult to read as he approached them. His round, moon-like eyes held the stance of indifference but his siblings would know better. His gaze wandered between Eerie-ete and Empirical-ete, very aware of what they could be discussing. Part of him struggled with just accepting that Eternalstar took them in and trying to live a normal life, or going along with his siblings schemes because this whole situation was nothing less than shady. "Catch me up, please." He let a little curiosity pool into his mew as he spoke.
Eerie-ete glanced between his two siblings, wondering how this will all play out in the future. "You and Empirical pretend to go along with whatever it is that Eternalstar is planning. I will challenge her every chance I get. I think that's basically all we decided on?" He turned a questioning gaze to Empirical-ete. They had been talking for a bit, but was that really all that had come from it?
"That's all we decided concrete. We also talked about how we will have to be careful." Empirical-ete tagged on, thinking of the cold eyes Eternalstars father, the ones that had watched as they were terrorized and held no emotion at all. "We can't know how she might react if she thinks she has no use for us." It seemed in the leaders world once one had no use they were disposed of. The disappearing faces of old Springclan members hard not to notice. Just as it wasn't hard to note the arrival of new faces often.

"Ah, I see." Exotic-ete responded dryly. His eyes locked onto Eerie's and he narrowed them. "You must be careful." There was a weakness in his meow, like the emotional chaos the siblings had went through were choking out his strength. It was no secret that there was something permanently broken in that wiry tom. He could not bare to lose a littermate.
"We'll all be careful." Empirical-ete affirmed, "we've made it too far for this to end in our own ends. Remember, we've survived worse and we'll continue to survive." She considered it one of their greatest skills. Their ability to survive through it all, to take the hits and keep struggling back to their feet. "We also have to be careful of our past. I don't think any of them will come after us, but one may never truly know."
