Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Pluto gazed before him at the stars. They were lovely tonight, bright and shining in all their glory. Whereas the moon was nowhere to be found. Darkness enclosed all that the stars could not alight. The tom's eyes cared not for his surroundings but gazed on the lights before him. He felt no worries he in the center of the camp as most of his clanmates slept on.
Having spent some of her time in the forest far away from the artificial lighting, the skies above her no longer impressed Vesuvius. She would not deny that it was a beautiful sight, but it was not nearly the same as the skies of the forest. It had been awhile since she actually awake at this hour, but her clanmate's snoring made it such an occasion. She approached the High Priest from behind and spoke softly to not wake the others. "It's always a splendid sight. It's dim here, but it works."
"Yes, it is a shame not many others feel the same way anymore. They only wish for the moon's bright shiny gaze." They lose track of what's right in front of them, the stars were only one example. Pluto looked towards who had joined him, curious who else would be up at this time.
She gave a small nod before returning her gaze to the stars above. "The moon is beautiful, but it does kind of take up the whole sky. Nights like this are perfect, at least by city standards." The last line resonated with her for a moment before she rose to her paws. "Why don't we find a better place to stargaze?"
"Yes, the moon has its own beauty but it blocks the beauty of the stars most nights." The tom always found that the night's where the moon could not be seen where his favorite and held the most beauty in his eyes. "Please lead the way." The way she spoke, it was as though she already had a place in mind. Pluto rose to his paws, ready to follow the other cat to where ever she chose.
It had been a long time since she was so open with another without some ulterior motive. The she-cat was not sure if she wanted to become the creature all of the time, but she could bear it for the night. The combatant was in too deep to back out. She nodded silently and began to weave her way towards the exit through the cats of the Coalition.
Pluto followed her at a good pace, a few paws steps back and within her eyesight. It was respectful in his opinion to do so, anything less would seem like an attack. Some of their clanmates would see it as such and attack first. It wasn't unheard of. "Do you come to this location often?"
She shook her head. "Not as much as I used to. The winter makes things much more difficult. Why would I want to watch the stars when I can barely feel my tail?" It never took long for the cold to get to the short haired combatant. Thankfully, the night was not terrible at the moment, but for all she knew a blizzard was on its way. "What about you? I'd image you do this kind of thing a lot."
"Ah, yes the dreaded cold. It prevents much from being accomplished for many moons." He nodded his head in understanding. Pluto had watched many avoid much during these last few months in hopes that they'd wouldn't be out in the cold. He found peace in the quiet of the cold nights. No one else would be out and yet, they were lonely nights spent all alone with a hole filling his heart. "It's quieter in the cold. Everything is silent and peaceful." But it's empty and lonely, something even he understood.
She understood where he was coming from. She was one of those cats trying to get out of whatever she could, but he skillfully avoided her question. Deciding to let it go for now, she simply nodded and glanced up to the clear winter sky. "Yeah, I guess so. Unfortunately, I can't say I get a lot done this time of year either. It's hard, so yeah. We do what we must, but not much more."
"There's not much for anyone to do this time of year. Everything's dead." Well, no one could say he wasn't blunt and to the point. Pluto paced on, his voice having given no emotion away as to what he felt. To him life was simple, you either lived or you died and when you died you were better off. At least then you didn't have to deal with the drama of life anymore.
