WATERCLAN } } Of the many moons that had passed, this was to be the one she dreaded the most. She couldn’t understand it. How had the clans stood by, never even growing curious of the borders that seemed to suddenly be abandoned? Violetstar felt her lips twitch in disgust. If a clan were to ever disappear, she had always thought WaterClan would be there for them, if they were capable. Or at least even, check on them. Not a soul had even tried, and what if one of the other clan’s medicine cats could have saved so many WaterClan cats from the terrible fate that ripple cough had left them to?
Her lips pressed together as she forced her furs to lie flat. Full moon gatherings were supposed to hold peace, not anger and resentment. Violetstar questioned if she would manage to pull this off, going to this place without anger. She supposed she would find out soon. As she was leading her clan to the area, what was left of them. She had let a few loners join, even kittypets. Though one wouldn’t notice unless pointed out. Which, in truth, she hoped didn’t happen. It would be a sure way to make her lose her cool.
Her purple hued eyes shifted upwards towards the moon. It had an odd shadow beginning to form. Though it was small for the moment, and she couldn’t tell if it were growing or not, because of it was, it was slow. Shaking her head, she hoped this wasn’t a bad sign from StarClan. With that, her gaze dropped back down and she led her clan into the area. They were the first to arrive. Without hesitance, the new leader moved to the leader spot, her tail lashing before she took a seat. Shock would soon spread through the other clans when they should arrive. Violetstar was never a deputy, only a mere warrior in the face of the crowd at gatherings.
Violetstar lifted her head, awaiting the other clans.
SPRINGCLAN It was SpringClan's first gathering free from SunClan's grasp, and yet as he stepped into the clearing, Peachstar for some reason felt more trapped than ever. He'd always disliked gatherings, as he rarely cared about what was going on in Clans beside his own. Back when he was a warrior he usually just went in case any hilarious family drama was going down, or occasionally to eye up some tom he found kind of cute. But now he was a Clan leader and had to pay attention to the other Clans unless he wanted to risk getting his Clanmates killed, and he couldn't even gaze at cute guys anymore since his mate Fuzzyheart had ruined all other toms for him. Still, occasionally something interesting did happen at gatherings - case in point, the rather angry-looking group of cats standing before him and his Clan.
...And of course, he had no idea who they could be, since he'd never paid attention at gatherings. Curse this attention span of mine.... Then again, he supposed he could blame it on SunClan if he needed to, given that they had literally held SpringClan captive for what felt like almost an entire season.
"....You're back!" Peachstar exclaimed, with somewhat forced-sounding warmness. "How've you been..." He frowned. No, that didn't sound appropriate. "They were all so worried," he finally settled on - not quite a lie, given that he hadn't said that he'd been worried.
"Whoa ho! WaterClan's back, I was wondering where the lot of you were when Peachystar and I were enslaved. What was your leafbare like? Hopefully full of freedom and fish," Glowstar said, her stride stopping near Peachstar.
She looked half Goddess, half chaos. Her eyes sparked with a storm of green embers that edged between burning out and transforming into wildfires. Her stature was tall and her form hourglass shaped. She had glossy fur like a WaterClan warrior. Her muscle toned body perfectly crafted to league standards. She seemed a bit off balance when she had approached, a flawed sashay. Her fur an ocean of wild auburn cinnamon waves kissing up against the shores of her auburn bombshell coat with honey blonde drizzled throughout her fur.
For two generations of leaders WaterClan and DayClan had been close. It was why when DayClan was captured she thought she had a plan B to depend on, but when WaterClan wasn't around she found herself trapped. Having a son and grandkits and grandkits grandkits in WaterClan she felt physically sick knowing something wasn't right with hardly any time to dwell on the issue. For moons Spring and Day lived next to each other in a prison camp until less than a moon ago when they were released. She could still feel the effects of SunClan in her legs from standing in cold waters and being forced to swim in them. Frost bite had infested all the way to the top of her legs and was healing slower than grass took to grow. It was nice to stretch her legs even if they were numbed. Though looking at Violetstar she didn't recognize her. The last time she saw them they had Emberstar. She gazed a bit past Violetstar wondering if Leucisticcrow and Gravelshell were among them, but if they were she didn't see them.
SPRINGCLAN
Fuzzyheart's massive muscular build swept shadows over WaterClan as he stepped closer to his mates side. He rolled his broad shoulders back, the moonlight cast darkness over his already dark brown bengal pelt. He was monstrous. His lean body brushed against Peachstar's, the faint scent of cold steel drifted in the air from him, out of place, strange. His single ocean blue eye seemed like a claw, it could tear through a person's soul with just one look and was concentrated on Violetstar. Fuzzyheart looked back at Peachstar for a moment noticing his nervous, but also peaceful demeanor towards Violetstar. Given this Fuzzystar pushed his lips back into a smile that only came off with an essence of savageness. He never could perfect that distinct curve and brightness to ones eyes that clan cats seemed to so willfully do on command rather than in a moment.
WATERCLAN They dared to pretend. Her purple eyes bore into the two leaders, obvious disinterest in their words. It was clear the feline believed none of their words, and had no intentions of pretending that she did. Violetstar said nothing for the moment, but the blood in her veins seemed to boil inside. It was hard, keeping her cool. She just kept playing inside her head that she had no choice, over and over. She was a leader now, and had to act as one. Instead of speaking, she merely gave a small nod to the cats. It was enough that she hadn’t ignored them, but also showed she held no interest in carrying on some pointless conversation with them. She would save the conversation when she announced her leadership.
Though she couldn’t help but feel small compared to them. Her ribs were still showing, and her fur looked rather dull. WaterClan was still recovering. It was clear their clan was a bit on the weaker side, but she would not even act it. It was time to bring her clan back into the light.

SUNCLAN
Foxstar stepped into the gathering place, her gaze sweeping around as though nothing had changed. The past moon had been tumultuous, at best, resulting in the shattering of the alliance between NightClan, BrookClan, and SunClan, and the subsequent rescue of DayClan and SpringClan thanks to the combined efforts of WinterClan and the Regime. NightClan had been there too, of course, but, ah, Burningstar had made the mistake of coming alone, and had paid for it with one of her lives. If they were keeping score, Foxstar wasn't in the best shape, either. Glowstar had attacked her twice, and Leatherstar once, so she was, admittedly a bit on the rough side, if the clawmarks that ran across her nose and just under her eye weren't enough of a sign.
Rather than address Glowstar, however, the fox furred feline turned her gaze to Violetstar, ivy gaze drifting up and down the gaunt she-cat's frame. "My children were right. You are in rough shape." Her tone was far more akin to Violetstar's expectations than the others, a small smile curling on her maw in addition to the almost mocking quality of her voice. And with that, her head turned, noting the painful lack of WaterClan cats among them.

SUMMERCLAN Ravenstar paused at the edge of the gathering's clearing, observing the scene before her first. She could see Glowstar and Peachstar who seemed closer these days, but then again Suncan had kept them in captivation for moons by the sounds of it. Her eyes moved to gaze over a new leader who she could not recall, this was definitely Waterclan judging by the scents with a new leader who had not been their deputy when they disappeared all those moons ago. The air around them did not seem particularly friendly so she glanced back at her gathering party before signaling for them to go ahead and join the masses.
The sleek black leader glided over to the others, her grey eyes friendly but guarded. She was as quiet as a mouse as she walked but there was power in her paws. This gathering would be her first as Summerclan's new leader and she would need to be firm and stand her ground to ensure other clans, especially Sunclan, did not take her as a pushover or another leader they can order around. She understood that in terms of power, that greatly belonged to groups such as Dayclan and Sunclan but her clan would not be walked on or stepped over in the meantime.
"Hello, Peachstar, Glowstar, Foxstar, and ....?" She gave a respectful nod to each leader in turn and her eyes rested on the she-cat with unusual purple eyes, she did not know this leaders name.
DAYCLAN Flyingcolors watched the leaders interact nervously as she joined the growing mass of cats, noticing how few Waterclan cats there were and how small they all looked. She glanced up at the cloud beginning to cover the moon and back at the leaders. Tonight would not be peaceful, she could already sense that much.
Chim slid between the ranks, his ragged form disappearing into the crowd. He had always been skin-and-bones, but now the rest of his clan was as well, so for once the only unusual thing about him was the bitter glare of his sole green eye. Chimerahunt usually disliked gatherings, but this was their first one, and his only opportunity to find out if his family had all perished or if their escape had saved their lives. Out of habit, he looked first for the sleek black coat of his older brother and the ginger of his father, before he had to crush the images and turn away. He would see neither of them here today.
SUMMERCLAN
Crownglass skirted the edge of the clearing, staring hopefully over the arriving cats and wondering if any of these foreign pelts were from EarthClan.
They had been sheltering in SummerClan during the sickness, and he had been dying to know what had happened back home. Leaving had been hard, but it was the obvious choice: they had already lost their father, and they couldn't afford to lose anyone else. His brother had stayed behind, though, and it had torn Wyverndelirium to pieces to leave Chim to his suffering. He had never expected that the tom's stubbornness would be so great he would stay and die instead of fleeing with them... Even as he heard WaterClan was there, he was afraid to look, to see his kin missing from the ranks. But he had to. He had to report back to Tinybreath.
"Well, I'll be damned," came the voice of a she-cat as she sauntered in. Unlike the others that had been part of the alliance, Tsar Kerrigan had come out rather unscathed by the whole ordeal. Her ear flicked at the site of Glowstar and Foxstar. She was lucky she wasn't one of them, she supposed. It was part of the game, though. You step out before things get too bad. That way, you aren't on the losing side. "Look what the cat dragged into the gathering. Would you look at that." There was a taunt in her voice, perhaps because the leader had regained her emotional strength in the last moon. It also could be because something had changed with the emotional trauma of it all; the careful dictator had cracked. "By the looks of it, perhaps they shouldn't have."
WaterClan was lucky, in Kerrigan's mind. Absolutely, star-crazingly lucky. After all, by the looks of them, Kerrigan could have crushed the group into oblivion with the flex of her claws. She was always looking for a good terretorial expansion, and her neighbor's land would have been as easy as taking a feather from a podarok. The stars had aligned just perfectly for the illness-ravaged group, then, that she had had other matters to take care of. EarthClan had not been so lucky. Still, interest piqued her gaze as she saw the cats with the WaterClan scent. Perhaps, now that her paws weren't so full...
The Tsar shrugged to herself. That would be a decision for another day. For now, she simply sauntered up to the leader's area. WATERCLAN Ottermystique felt the air in the gathering. It was much different than the last time she had attended one. Granted, a lot of things were different since then. WaterClan's entire world had changed. And, by the looks of it, so had everyone else's. She shifted uncomfortably between her feet, before looking up to where Violetstar sat. It was unusual for the brown havanna to fret in such a way. However, it felt like something was off. And, with Kerrigan's comment, perhaps Ottermystique's uncomortable feeling was not necessarily unwarranted.
Still, the she-cat took a seat, her tail wrapping around her paws.

WINTERCLAN
Leatherstar padded along with his thanes and novices into the area where the gathering was held without fail every full moon. The brown Tom flicked his ear as he was pummeled by the energy in the cats around him. Something was odd. He scanned the cats gathered with emerald eyes. This intensity landing on a She-cat among the leaders he did not recognize. Leaving the comfort of his clan mates company he padded forward into the leaders midst to be made aware. “Who is this?” He asked curiously of no one in particular.
WATERCLAN
Goldrush was close by Violetstar but off to the side. The recently appointed medicine cat felt odd being surrounded by so many cats. So many scents.
WATERCLAN Irritation flared inside her body. She knew it was a mistake coming here. Cats like a Foxstar and Kerrigan were instigators and attempted to walk all over any cat they could. I ought to rip those smug looks from their faces... Before she could give a snide remark to either, she was confronted with another cat’s voice. Violetstar turned her purple hued eyes as they landed upon the WinterClan leader. None of these cats even seemed to know her previous name. Goes to show how much they truly paid attention to other clans.
As she let her eyes settle upon the tom, she couldn’t help but feel a deep thanks to him. Mainly because she was so overwhelmed with questions, or even cats critiquing her clan’s weakened state. He was the first cat to simply greet her and ask her name.
“I am Violetstar.” She greeted the tom, a small dip of her head. Leatherstar was the first she felt somewhat comfortable answering. Perhaps because his question was so simple and not evasive. This would take some getting used to. Was she really fit to be a leader? Could she handle this?

SUNCLAN Foxstar's eyes drifted to Kerrigan as the BrookClan leader spoke, and the Priestess' smile widened a touch more, soft laughter escaping her maw as she heard the WaterClan leader announce herself. Violetstar? Well, that made sense, given her eye color. "You're all WaterClan could come up with? Really? Maybe you should step aside and I'll let one of my kits go back and lead. At least they don't look half dead." Her kits had come to her when illness struck, children of Dragonguard, and therefore of the Phoenixriver and Lightningswift line. Leading was in their blood, and by the looks of it, any of them would do better than this she-cat.
His head twitched at the bickering between the leaders. So her kits had joined SunClan after the sickness had struck. Chim rumbled in amusement at the thought of any of them as leader. "The day my nephews are the best option for leadership is the day I grow gills," he muttered, mostly to himself, but loud enough for the other cats to overhear.

WATERCLAN "Are you're saying our nieces are any better?" Rustyheart had kept her mouth shut, mostly, and she usually didn't interact with her family anyway. But with Chimerahunt being one of the few left, she'd stayed close to him, not that it was hard with so few cats in the clan, and she couldn't help adding in her own little comment to follow her brother's and Foxstar's.
"No," Chim allowed. They were just as strange. He wasn't volunteering his kits, either - they might be more sensible choices than Dragonguard's, but he knew for the most part they wouldn't make great leaders either. They might have the blood of leaders, but that was polluted by his and Rainsweptwish's.

MoonClan
Swiftstorm quietly entered with his small clan. He spotted them happily sitting and conversing with each other. He looked at the leaders with contempt, shooting a fiery look at Foxstar as he over heard her comments on Violetstar's clan. He wanted to give barbed comment, but held his tongue. He coolly walked over and sat nearby WaterClan's leader. The last few moons had been difficult, sharing prey with the unwanted cats of DayClan. He held back a grimace as he spotted the Forest Leaders and the tsar.
"Greetings, how is the prey running, Glowstar." He threw the name like a rotting fish.
Glowstar looked at Ravenstar, "Peachstar and I were just talking to her, I think she's the new leader of WaterClan since she lead them in, but-"
Her attention turned to Kerrigan and Foxstar. Bullies. WaterClan was her favorite clan out of all of them. The mist that cascaded like sparkling ash off of waterfalls. The foam that crept over onto moss and grass from their brooks. Their land was gorgeous as well as their usual slick and glossy pelts they naturally got from the water they lived around. Now they were belittling this beautiful lands leader. But she didn't say anything, girls code. Even if she disagreed with what they said she couldn't disagree, not in front of everyone.
"Violet, what a beautiful and perfect name for a flower that blooms best in water," Glowstar purred, "I'm Glowstar from DayClan-"
She was about to speak more when she saw Swiftstorm and gave a polite smile to Violetstar before walking over to Swiftstorm leading him a bit away from the crowd, "Look, I know what we're doing is awful and not that I carry a heavy conscience as much as the rest of my clan does, but I wouldn't have ever done this if I didn't have to. Trust me, I see it as a weak move, but we are weak at the moment. I want this gathering to go smoothly, name any price that isn't freedom and I'll grant it."
Soaringdawn stepped out from the group of DayClan cats, his amethyst gaze swept the crowd of SunClan cats for Whitemagnolia. The white scottish fold walked around for a moment, his ginger ears raised as if he could detect her alone by sounds.
Auburnwolf peaked out from the crowd of DayClan cats to look at the WaterClan cats. He wore a kittypet collar around his neck, but under closer inspection anyone could see why he still wore it. The collar was made of leather, it was fastened to his neck not tight, but not loose either. It would be impossible to take off and even more impossible to force it off painlessly. The auburn and cream color Siamese walked over to the WaterClan cats deciding to try and mingle.
WINTERCLAN
"Hello Flyingcolors," Mistyveil said, padding over to the other medicine cat, "Your herb storage was very useful."
Her clan had raided Flyingcolors, not that it mattered since they were kidnapped and snowed out of it so Mistyveil and taken the herbs that Flyingcolors could no longer get to. Considering WinterClan had plenty of the same herbs and not enough unique herbs that were critical in healing such as poppy seeds and cobwebs the haul had been incredibly beneficial.
Barrenfrost walked in looking over at Leatherstar and then Violetstar. He was a massive snow leopard tom with an icy cold blue gaze. Leader business... He walked away to go pick a fight with a cat who had no interest in fighting and keep away from any weird orange cats, especially those weird gingery cats Leatherstar was around.
SUNCLAN
Autumngossamer, an apprentice aged red as burning rubies Janus. And for those clan cats who didn't know what a Janus was it basically meant better at you than anything so 'nough said. It was too bad that someone with a soul rotting from the inside out was as devastatingly gorgeous as she was. Bronze and silver played against her fur like fairy lights giving her fur a gilded fiery look like a golden tigress. Her honey brown eyes turned to look at what Foxstar was looking at, "Ew?" She said, looking at the leaders state and smiled at Foxstar's laugh, uh yeah. It was pretty pathetic. She couldn't imagine even attending anything looking like that. Like wow.

Summerclan A rather massive cat stepped out of the Summerclan tide that poured into the gathering. Her large underbite and pointed teeth gave her a unique, fearsome appearance, and the two narrowed pale green eyes didn't help the case either. However, she appeared to carry her appearances like a lion, proud and sure of herself. She gave a nod to the leaders then made her way to the other deputies, grumbling under her breath about the cold. The look she fixed the rest of the clans as they awaited the gathering could split steel in half. It really wasn't that she was in a constant state of anger... she just had some bad resting grump face.
Waterclan Rainpaw watched with wide eyes as several cats swarmed around him. The tension that choked the air could be cut with a claw, but he was mostly amazed that there were so many cats in the world. It was his first time at a clan gathering. He watched his mentor conversing with the other leaders, admiring her spirit and making a silent resolve to model it. He stood up a little taller, even though his dull fur and starved frame still made him look two times smaller than the other apprentice-aged cats.
Brookclan Pearlypaw followed the other Brookclan cats in, looking bewildered as more unfamiliar faces appeared. She had heard of Waterclan plenty of times and even patrolled their borders once, but she never imagined them to look like that and smell so sickly. A pang of sympathy hit her chest as she watched them mill about. Surely it wasn't always that way for them?

MOONCLAN
Swiftstorm calmly listened to Glowstar's plea. He understood that the Clan was going through hard times, but SunClan has left them devastated. Most cats had run off, join other Clans, or had become kittypets, and loners. The elderly and young kits had died, and sick warriors couldn't be treated with the lack of herbs. With the few cats they had left, they resorted to the lake for food. Unfortuantely the cold weather had caused the fish to disappear, leaving them with cold and hungry bellies. DayClan was a large group and they needed the food.
"Tch." He was stuck. He couldn't afford to provoke them any further. "I ask, that you give us a fourth of your prey every other day and to only hunt during the day. You will not have our territory in the night." He spoke carefully and with purpose. "I do not want any altercations with our clans. You can leave the prey at the border, I will have our Lunar Captain and Guards fetch it." He bowed his head respectfully. "That is all I ask." Quietstep nervously walked through the cats. She had had nightmares about them coming to steal her kits, and none of this was making her feel better. She sat near the edge, her ears folded back. She looked for Goldenage among the cats.
SUNCLAN
Silverflame sat with Fantasticalpaw. "Don't get any ideas about traipsing about. Do not speak to MoonClan or WaterClan." He sniffed at the scrawny cats. "They are weak, I wouldn't want my apprentice associating with them."
DAYCLAN
Sunnyblaze walked up to Pearlypaw, his eyes trained on the WaterClan cats. "Who knew they'd be back. They look awful." He shook his head. "What now, FallClan appears out of nowhere?"
SPRINGCLAN Peachstar paused for a few seconds. The - WaterClan, was it? - leader didn't seem to be in the mood for talking, so as the rest of the Clans began to file in, he gave the surly-looking she-cat a quiet nod before turning to face Fuzzyheart. "I'm glad Glowstar saved me from a lifetime of embarrassment and shouted out the Clan's name for all to here," he murmured, flashing a grateful look in her direction.
Violetstar, he thought. What a pretty name. "I am Leatherstar of WinterClan. Not too far away but not along your border I am afraid. I do hope your rebuilding has gone smoothly." he meowed in a formal but friendly tone. He ignored the bickering between Foxstar and those nearby, and she though he was arrogant.
