Quietstep sat by the nursery, thinking about what her children would become. She watched the kits play in the light of the Rowan Moon, a cool breeze ruffled her fur. Barkkit would be a great fighter, maybe Stagkit will be as well. Snowkit would be an excellent hunter though. I never hear her sneak up on me!
She sighed at the thought. Being a queen was rewarding in many ways, but boredom was a downside.
"At least yours are already running about." Her voice was soft as Goldenage padded over to the other queen, seemingly knowing the train of her thoughts. Though it wasn't hard to imagine when one realized that the two were in similar boats so to say. "I can't wait to have my own, mainly so I'm not so exhausted all the time and can finally have a full nights rest.

She laughed. "It won't be long now. Your kits will come and they'll be lovely." She briskly gave a sympathetic lick on the queen's ear. "I'm worried though, with MoonClan being taken over by the other clans, I wonder about what kind of way they'll grow up..." She shook her head at the thought. Quietstep looked over at Goldenage.
"I have them all picked out." Goldenage responded with a soft smile, "But you'll have to wait until they're born to know." Her apparent desire not to comment on the other part of the queens comment was rather obvious. She would claim it was due to not wanting to stress herself when carrying her kits, and maybe that was part of it. But a lot of it was just her refusal to even want to think on the issue.
Spookpaw was getting old for an apprentice, but the time she'd taken to pull pranks in her early stages of being an apprentice had put her behind. Finally the young cat had grown up some, mentally but not physically she'd be small forever, allowing her to see that MoonClan wasn't what it use to be. The clans had taken ahold of her beloved home and she wasn't sure where she fit in anymore. Her father Jynxlaughter had sent her off this morning to help the queens, trying to give her anxious paws something to do and to stay out of the way. She understood what he was doing, knew why, it just frustrated her that she couldn't help more! Walking in to the nursery, fully ready to help babysit the little ones, she put on her best smile, or the best she could do around the ball of moss she'd brought with her to play with.

Quietstep nodded. "Oh yes, I got my names from the beautiful day my kits were born. It was cold and snowy, but the names ended up being perfect for them."
She spotted the apprentice come into the wide nursery. "Oh hi, Spookpaw! Come to play with the kits?" She asked, grateful for the help.
Barkkit bounded up to her. "Hiya Spookpaw! Is that for us?"
Turning Goldenage watched the apprentice quietly, not as outwardly friendly as Quietstep, which was a little ironic due to their names. While Quietstep choose to speak up first Goldenage choose to keep her silence. Though a fond smile crossed her features at Barkkit's words, showing her obvious affection for kits.
"Of course it is. I didn't bring it to play by myself." Spookpaw spoke rudely but an obvious grin was on her face, showing that she was joking. She passed the bundle of moss towards the kit, starting their game. Turning to the queens, the apprentice bowed her head, "good evening."
Despite the fact Spookpaw was joking Goldenage still thought the comment rather misplaced. The joke fell flat with her and due to this her reply was distant and a little detached. "Good afternoon Spookpaw." Her eyes turned away soon after, trying to remind herself that she needed to start taking things less seriously; it was bad for her stress levels and thus detrimental to her kits.
*I sat near the nest and as my Mother moved away and shrunk deeper into the nest, my ears flat. I didn't like it when she moved, not wanting to be near my Brothers. When Spookpaw entered the nursery with a mossball, my interest perked up, but once it was given to Barkkit, my interest faded fast. I sat up in the nest and watched quietly, my icy eyes following the mossball.
"He tells me I will be having three kits." She purred softly, the somali she-cat turning a slim neck to look towards the brilliant white kitten. "I have some names in mind already, but.." She trailed off thinking of the kits father. The tom long gone now, their fling short lived and doomed to fail, but the talks she had with him, had with his daughter inspired the names she now contemplated giving her soon to be born kits.

Quietstep checked on Stagkit who was sleeping next to her and gave Snowkit a reassuring lick. "Go on and play with Spookpaw, she's a good cat." She didn't try encouraging her to play with her brothers, in fear of her getting hurt. With Stormwind gone, she didn't have much to fear. Maybe this could be a chance to get them to play with her... "Barkkit, share the mossball with Snowkit, too."
She looked at Goldenage, the she-cat was lost in thought. "The father?" Quietstep knew it was a touchy subject, in which she could understand. She was thinking about finding a new mate herself, but if he came back...
Barkkit rolled his eyes. "Fine, come on Snowkit. I guess you can play with us."
Stealing the ball back from the kit, Spoobat passed it to Snowkit. "Here! Come and play." Even if it was only for a little while she'd hang out with the kits, give the queen s a breather and then get back to her duties. Not paying any mind to the queens, the warrior edged the kits away from their nest and out into the center of the den where there was more room.
"A rouge, I met him only a few times, very few." She hummed before trailing off, thinking of Cicero and where he probably was now. Wondering if his daughter Eternalera had ever gone back to her clan like he spoke of her doing. "He doesn't matter now though, I know where we left off when it ended and I know he won't care to know the kits or even be bothered with their existence."

Quietstep listened to the queen's response, feeling kind of bad for her. At least Stormwind has cared about her for a little bit, not much but it was obviously enough to make her have kits.
"I understand, after my kits were born, Stormwind abandoned me and started hurting me for no reason. He only had interest in Barkkit and Stagkit, and then poor Starrykit died and Snowkit... well, she means everything to me now." She said sadly as she looked at Snowkit playing. "I wish things were different, but... now I'm afraid he'll come back and try to do something to Snowkit." She had always had a sneaking suspicion that Stormwind was as fault for Starrykit's death because she was born very healthy. She pressed Stagkit closer to her belly.
Barkkit caught the ball with ease. "You're gonna have to do better than that! Watch this!" He threw the ball as high as he could to Spookpaw, looking rather pleased with the height.
Snatching the moss ball out of the air, Spookbat passed it back towards Quietstep and her nest trying to convince Stagkit to join them. "We don't bite, so come play Stagkit." If the kit didn't want to then she wouldn't force them but better to be away from the nest and all the queens to talk without worry that noisy kits would overhear them.

{If I can get fadedecho to be summoned, then Stagkit will wake up lol}
Quietstep blinked at Spookpaw. "It's fine, he stayed up all day trying to go to sleep. It's Barkkit I need to get the energy out of." Quietstep waved her tail and brought her attention back to the conversation.
