The medicine cat apprentice purred as the afternoon sunlight warmed his back, yet the fall breeze chilled his whiskers. His warm brown eyes trailed over the camp and rested on the fresh-kill pile. Feeling a grumble rise to his belly at the tempting sight, Hawthornpaw slid forward until he was nose to nose with a plump squirrel. He licked his lips, said a little prayer to Starclan, and took his treasure over to a sunny corner of the camp where he began to chow down.

"Someone's hungry." A voice would meow, amusement apparent in their tone. Burningeclipse turned out to be the source of this comment, and picking up a mouse from the pile, she would soon settle across from the apprentice. Her knowledge of medicine was limited, and that being said, she was unsure as to what Hawthornpaw actually did as the medicine cat apprentice. But judging on how he had been looking at the fresh-kill pile- like a predator ready to strike, she guessed that whatever he did was strenuous enough to work up quite the appetite. After all, he'd chosen a rather large squirrel as his lunch, compared to her measly mouse. "I'm guessing that the life of a medicine cat apprentice isn't all fun and games." She teased.
