Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Earlier in the day, Faeriekit had spotted another cat swimming in the hot springs in the middle of camp, which had surprised her. Apparently she just hadn't paid too much attention to the pool of water before, as she hadn't known that they were allowed to do that. Of course, the small kit didn't know how to swim, and although she really wanted to try it, she wasn't entirely sure if she wanted to learn. At the very least, she was afraid of learning on her own. If the water was anything like snow, it would be dangerous.
Still, she was curious, so she sat at the shallow edge of the pool, staring at her own reflection. Slowly, she raised her paw, and dipped it in. From the warmth that the water was giving off to the rest of the camp nearby, she had expected it to hurt, but she was still shocked at the sudden heat that greeted her. With a yelp, she pulled her paw back, giving the hot spring a look of betrayal.
From a distance, always trying to avoid the ridiculous amount of heat given off by the warm water, Twilightkit watched his sister as she tested the waters with a small paw. The thought to approach the steaming water had never really crossed his mind, as he quite enjoyed his position against the far wall where it was cooler and he nearly blended into the shadows other than his eyes.
With a small huff, unwilling to accept that his sister might venture too far and fall in, he got to his paws and padded towards her. "Careful, Faeriekit," he warned, coming to sit beside her, completely ignoring the discomfort of the higher temperature.
"What're you guys doing over there?" Came a curious voice as she peered at the pair. "It's hot over there, isn't it?" Druidkit was standing a fox length away from them. Her little paws patted the stone ground. "I heard that it is the only reason we don't freeze to death. Outside of camp it's really cold, you know." She mewed, coming over to stand behind the two, peering over their shoulders and into the water.
The heat seemed to flow from Faeriekit's paw into her face as she realized that her siblings had been watching her, and she suddenly had the urge to stick her head outside of camp to feel the cooler air. Instead of running away, she turned to face Twilightkit, an awkward smile gracing her features. Her embarrassment was rather obvious, despite her attempt to hide it. "Thank you, Twilightkit," she said, her voice soft in an attempt to prevent anyone else from hearing other than her siblings.
"The water really makes you forget that," she replied to Druidkit, forcing a small laugh. "I bet it would be nicer if I had been cold before trying it out."
A quick look of concern flashed across Twilightkit's face before he schooled his features and nodded his head in greeting to their sister who had just approached as well. Mentally, he had to laugh that they never seemed to be too far apart no matter what they were up to. "Did it hurt?" He asked, flicking his tail towards the water with little to interest in getting his own paws wet - or burning warm for that matter.
Faeriekit followed her brother's motion towards the water again, her face scrunching at the memory of its betrayal. "I didn't expect it to be so hot," she replied, reaching her paw out once more to quickly splash the very top of the water. The quick contact with the water didn't hurt nearly as bad, and it somehow lifted her spirits. "How was that warrior able to do it? Is there some sort of.... secret training technique?"
Not even remotely willing to put any part of his body in the scalding pool of water, Twilightkit shrugged, having dodge any flying droplets from when she touched the surface once more. "I'm sure it's something you get used to after a while, sort of like when you go outside and are cold but start to adjust," He added with a slight tilt of his head. It sort of made sense, in his opinion.
