Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
APPLEDELIGHT ―✸― she / they • trapper • bisexual • open to any and all plots
So far, it had been a pretty wasteful and disappointing day. For the most part, she wasn't a cat to complain or fuss about little things. But StarClan her paws ached, and she was starting to wonder why she'd even thought to make this little trip in the first place. Already the sky was beginning to grow dim with warm pastels and colors -- bleeding from sunset into the hues of twilight. Even if Appledelight were to make it to their destination in time, she surely wouldn't make it all the way back to SummerClan on the energy that she held right now. Scanning the mountain ranges now long past her, and the lake shore that stretched far in the horizon to her left, they felt their fur prickle with unease. Though it hadn't looked so ominous -- more soft and light gray even -- the now crackling and rumbling gray mass of clouds was heading straight for her.
A distant grumble of thunder told them just as much; she'd have to be escaping the rain for today. And with nightfall already so quickly approaching, she gave a dismal hum of worry and instead began heading towards the sheltered slopes of the mountain. Though she'd be backtracking a little bit, she'd rather find shelter from the rain now than search in it for hours. And that wasn't even guaranteeing they'd find anything. Appledelight preferred to stay dry and comfortable, especially when it looked like they'd be spending the night in the forest.
Soon her paws led her to the cover of the trees, already an improvement in her eyes. If she couldn't happen upon a hollowed out tree, or thicket of bushes, they'd opt for sitting in the canopy of leaves and hunkering down there. As she sloped more and more upwards, the grass became more dotted with rubble and rocks, boulders cropping up here and there. And just when she was about to call it a day, as the stars began to wink into existence, she spotted a cozy looking cave, big enough for her to squeeze into comfortable. And just in time too, because they felt a little droplet of rain fall upon her nose. Darting inside, she shuddered at the chilly air and glanced upwards, into the inky sky now freckled with lights. And with a bit of awe, watched with sage green eyes as a star streaked through the sky and seemed to burn out and fall to the earth.
If there was one thing that would set Sunrisepaw up to have a bad night, it was getting wet. She hated the rain, hated how stringy her furs became at the first inclination of dampness, hated how unbecoming it was. She was a princess, both literally (she still hadn't let anyone forget that she had been named the Summer Solstice Princess) and figuratively (she also didn't let anyone forget that she was the daughter of a former deputy, the cousin of the current leader), and as a princess, she shouldn't be out in the rain. But, she'd been given a list of tasks to complete, and the afternoon had been warm and her sunspot looked just so comfortable that she couldn't help but sleep in it, which meant that by the time the evening rolled around and she was finished with her beauty sleep, she still had a day's work to do. Which would have been fine, presumably, had the clouds not rolled in.
Appledelight would have heard a high-pitched squeal as the first rain droplet hit her square in the face. Sunrisepaw always had a penchant for dramatics, even now that she'd lost her two primary opponents in life. Irritation filtered through her gaze as the droplets continued as she glanced around. When her eyes settled on the same cave that Appledelight had found herself in, she let out a huff - she was already wet, but at least she wouldn't have to stay wet. Her small body quickly moved towards it, another low rumble of thunder crackling over the horizon.
The next few moments were a bit of a blur. She was moving a little too quickly to notice that there was another cat already nestled in, and their bodies collided with enough force that her head was sent crashing into the cave wall. She let out a growl that was equal parts pained and surprised as she scrambled up, the cave only very barely big enough for two. Great, she was wet and now had made a fool of herself. The night was only getting better.
She let out a nervous chuckle. "Oh, sorry bout that. Didn't see ya there," she meowed, still slightly dazed.
