Heya! I'm a long time roleplayer, I've done warrior cat and fantasy animal style roleplays since about... 2014, I want to say??
Anyway, I'm Maple! I haven't roleplayed warriors in a long while and I thought it would be fun to get into warriors rp again. Some fun facts about me I suppose: I own 1 cat (named after Firestar lol) and 2 sugar gliders, and I am a Pokemon shiny hunter!
In regards to what books I have read, I am completely caught up on the series! I have never technically read The New Prophecy, but that's because The Power of Three was my first series Anyway, it's nice to be here and I'm excited to roleplay with y'all!
I love your fun facts, sugar sliders seem super cool! I’ve never gotten to meet one, do they get along with your Firestar or do you keep them separated? I’ve tried shiny hunting in the past and I usually give up before I find a shiny, so I greatly respect that you’re a full hunter, you have more patience I do xD
Also good to see someone caught up in the books, I haven’t finished Onestar’s book but I’m caught up otherwise. River was much more dramatic than expected but probably in a good way?

Fire actually doesn't bother the sugar gliders too much, but I don't leave them alone in the same room together haha. So they're mostly separated! Shiny hunting also isn't for the faint of heart, there's sooo much patience there. If you're interested into getting into shiny hunting, I'd definitely recommend Legends Arceus for it!! There's an increased chance for shinies in that game, so it's the perfect game to start with.
My first shiny was actually a Mudbray that I happened to stumble across completely by accident. Since then I've been hunting for them! My first hunt was Treecko and that took me 4 years haha, and I'm hunting a few different 'mons across Shield & Brilliant Diamond - Virizion and Cobalion have been taking about 2 years so far, and I've been hunting Uxie in BD since its release.
Sorry, I'm rambling ^^; I'm very passionate abt Pokemon and shiny hunting, I love talking about it!
River was actually sooo exciting, I was amazed at how it played out! Onestar's Confession was... alright, there's not much to speak abt it but I also don't want to spoil it for you in case you want to read it sometime
Arceus is where I actually did my last successful hunt, I couldn’t resist a shiny Kleavor…. for reasons probably obvious by my username xD That’s the only time I’ve really tried a hunt recently. I did catch a few random shinies from outbreaks in that game though which is way more my style LOL
But wow hunting legends especially seems like trouble since you can’t chain as far as I know. Cobalion is a good one though!
I got about halfway through Onestar’s before I ran out of time and just haven’t gotten back to reading it. I remember being confused for a long time because I was confusing Onestar’s parents with Crowfeather’s and was like this is a major change??

Random shinies are the best! I know I still get a rush even if I'm not actively hunting and still happen to come across one. In regards to hunting Legendaries - for a good chunk of them, you can't chain them. The method of getting a shiny varies per person and per game; In Shield, for Virizion and Cobalion, I enter a battle with one of them, defeat them, and then head to the next area to encounter the other. Since they're in completely different areas of the map, they reset after battling each other!
The other method is the more common one, and is the one I'm using for Uxie. It's called Soft Resetting; you save in front of the Legendary, encounter it - if it's not shiny, close the game and restart. Some games have it to where the Legendary is pre-set to either be shiny or not at the beginning of the game (for example, the Eon Twins in ORAS), so you would have to check and see if a particular game does that.
Congrats on your shiny Kleavor, by the way!! That design is so cool and I'm glad it was introduced to the series. My favorite Pokemon is Rolycoly for rather personal reasons
my grandfather was a coal miner and he passed away just before SWSH came out
and one of my friends gifted me a shiny one nicknamed after my grandpa
The Warrior's family tree in general is so confusing lol, it's a mess. Onestar's Confession as a whole was... boring, to me? I mean the first half of the book was great, I enjoyed it, but the later half was meh, to say the least without spoiling the book. I usually love WindClan-focused books which isn't many lol since they're my favorite Clan. I'm super excited to see what they're doing for the Starless Clan series.
Oh wow, what do you do if the shiny is pre-set at the beginning of the game? Is there a way to check and find out? I assume there has to be, playing through the entire game hundreds of times would be…. wow.

Yeah I heard this book wasn’t that interesting which is a shame. I’m not sure why they thought to make it if they didn’t have anything fun to bring in. I really enjoyed WindClan from Tallstar’s book with the cool ranks so it’s a bummer we never see those anymore.
But yeah I’m SO excited to see what they do with RiverClan in the new books, they made some bold moves and I’m so here for it

As far as I can tell, there's no way to tell if the Legendary is pre-set or not other than some digging into the files for your Trainer ID I think? I'm not entirely sure of the progress - but most times you won't know unless you encounter it. Thankfully, people seem to dig into the files quickly after or before release and will give you a heads up if the Legendary is pre-set. Most box Legendaries are pre-set in the newer games no matter the game except for BDSP ironically enough (aside from special events)
That Rolycoly is my favorite on the team, and I'm super happy that the line continues into SV! I'm super excited for the new games, I chose Violet!
I wish they would bring back the different ranks in WindClan too, that was always super neat to me. I can see why they got rid of it but man,, it made WindClan interesting. Somewhat related, but having a main RiverClan POV is super cool to see too since iirc this is the first time that's happened since Feathertail/Stormfur in TNP(?)
Yeah that makes sense that you can dig around in the files for it. Interesting that most of them are pre-set now though, I wonder why? Does it show up shiny in cut scenes or only the final encounter where you can fight/catch it?
I had that evo line on my team for the game and it was pretty useful so I might pick it up in the new game too, though I usually try to use a team of all new pokemon so I don't know for sure. It'll be nice to have around either way! I can't decide which game I should get xD
Yeah I'm a sucker for those unique ranks, SkyClan is making an effort but they're the only ones lol. Also yeah it's funny that we never got like a real look at RiverClan in the main series books? Feather and Storm spent most of their time in the mountains. What's going on in there that we can't see it...

No idea why the Pokemon company made box Legendaries (and starters) shiny-locked (meaning its pre-set to never be shiny unless during an event). It's a decision that definitely upset a lot of players lol. They appear as normal during cut scenes, but if it happens to be shiny then the encounter itself will be shiny.
Starters and Legendaries started being shiny-locked in Gen 5; you can breed shiny Starters, they're just locked at the beginning of the game. Legendaries are event-only in most cases - one exception would be SWSH's Dynamax Adventures but only if you don't catch the Legendary and keep encountering it. What's even WORSE with the Dynamax Adventures is that you won't know its shiny until the very end :/
I mostly get new Pokemon in the new games too! I'm just very sentimental of my Rolycoly lol. My Starter in Violet is def gonna be Sprigatito I chose Violet simply bc the Legendary looks cool, but honestly I vibe with both box Legends

Legendaries I can kind of get why they might want to limit when you can get the shiny, though it kinda ruins the fun. Starters though? That one surprises me. It would be a super fun surprise for someone who doesn't know pokemon, by random luck gets a shiny starter, and then notices that nobody else in the game has the same color and just assumes theirs is special because it's a starter xD
and oof, having to finish the whole adventure first, that sucks.
I can't decide on a starter!! All three are super cute, I might wait to see the final forms/types and decide based on that. So far I'm impressed with them though.
it's uh... interesting? the overthrow your leader rule makes sense given brokenstar and bramblestar and honestly even bluestar. the alliance switch is a little strange imo, like it makes sense to let cats move but having a trial for it is Interesting?? what do you think?

I was kind of surprised with the Starters being shiny-locked too. I think it would be super cool for a new player to roll that chance at the beginning of the game, then learn that theirs is a special rare 'Mon haha
All three are super cute!! I don't blame you for waiting 'till the final Evos are revealed, I typically wait for that but man I cannot pass up a cat starter hahaha
It's definitely interesting! I'm curious as to how that will work with the nine lives thing. I'd imagine it'd be a Sunstar situation? Where Sunstar got 8 lives instead of 9 bc Pinestar still had 1 left.
In regards to the trial when joining a new Clan, I think that's Interesting too. Idk if it's necessary per say but it makes sense since the Clans highly value loyalty
every time a new region comes out i say i’m going to go in blind and not check the final evolutions so i can be surprised. and every time i end up doing it anyway because i’m too curious and indecisive xD
yeah it could work that way for sure. i wonder if starclan approves the new leader they’ll get the full set anyway? pine went against star’s wishes presumably so it might be different if they want it to happen
i kinda feel like twig branch did it and her whole arc moving between clans was a little exhausting for me tbh
welcome to classic! i'm evelyn, but some of my usernames (like on discord) are milotyc, so you can probably easily tell that i also enjoy playing pokemon cx
i really have a lot of respect for anyone who shiny hunts! i had tried a few times, with one of the most recent attempts being to hatch a shiny eevee. i'm sure that people didn't enjoy the 300+ eevee children they got through wonder trade before i had given up. i've been meaning to try and get a shiny through SWSH's adventures though, but I keep forgetting (oop).
my first shiny that i ever found though was all the way back in Leaf Green, i had just stumbled upon a shiny ponyta and managed to catch it. around the same time though i had also found and caught a shiny whismur in Ruby, so i'm not actually sure anymore which one was first.

I haven't been doing shiny hunts through SWSH's Adventures personally, mostly since I'm focusing on Virizion & Cobalion xD. But the chances are higher even for normal 'Mons in the adventures! I got a shiny Glalie and Walrein there, iirc - funny story about the Glalie, I didn't realize it was shiny and almost chucked her before I was like "wait those eyes look off". I'm sure people also got tired of receiving the bunch of Bulbasaur from my egg shiny hunt too xD
I'm curious how the nine lives thing would go too. Pinestar was against StarClan's wishes, but there's also Brokenstar who was still seen as ShadowClan's "rightful leader" when Nightstar took over - and Brokenstar presumably didn't have all his lives then But maybe that just shows how the books are consistent at all xD
In regards to Twigbranch moving, I did like it at first since it was interesting to see how she and others dealt with it, but it did get a tad bit old and frustrating
