The walking catastrophe. A smile that masks a plethora of unpleasant feelings. Pearlypaw found herself helplessly tangled in a mess of briars while the shrew she was after flounced away. It almost appeared to be mocking her with the little hop in it's step that said, "I'm free," while she was definitely stuck. All she desired was to make her clanmates proud and not be such a burden. Now, she had to wait on someone to sacrifice their time to come free her...

"Well, out of all places to find you," came a gentle, almost teasing voice of a small feline, "this was not the one that I had expected. I've been looking for you all afternoon." Smallfire smiled as she spoke. Her gaze was slightly amuse at the sight of her adopted daughter tangled so deeply. "How ever did you manage this?" She fought the urge to chuckle as she grew nearer to her. It would take some time to get Pearlypaw out, especially if the young cat moved much more.

Both relief and another wave of embarrassment washed over Pearlypaw as she heard the voice of her mother. She was glad it was her who found the tangled apprentice, but also wanted to make Smallfire proud. This was not exactly fulfilling her wish. She let out a sigh, but turned her face with a forced smile to the warrior. "I was chasing a rabbit and my paws got a little quicker than my body could handle." She responded with a disappointed meow.
She let out a mrrow of laughter. The sound was a twinkling and gentle noise, the kind that was absolutely expected out of the groups single permanent queen. "Well, darling, perhaps you should be more careful next time," she teased. "You wouldn't want one of your other siblings to find you like this. I'm sure Springpaw would never let you live it down." She chuckled again, before moving to untangle the first bramble from her chest. "Believe it or not, though, we all have situations like this when we're 'paws. When I was just Smallpaw, I chased a rabbit onto the river thinking the ice was a lot sturdier than it was..." She shuddered at the memory. "Let's just say, I'm glad you're in the brambles and not wet in this weather."

Pearlypaw's eyes widened as she imagined one of her siblings finding her, especially Springpaw. "I'm really glad you found me, and that it wasn't someone else." She responded, cracking a small smile. Truly, she was so grateful for Smallfire and her peaceful demeanor. The small cat also had to force away the shudder as she imagined falling into an icy river in leaf-bare. However, the story did help her feel a bit better about her own situation. "Do you think even Tsar Kerrigan did this kind of stuff?" She wondered.

"It's not the first time I've found you in a not-the-best situation," she meowed before nuzzling her shoulder. The first time they met, Pearlypaw had only been Pearlykit. She had been dejected and lonely, not at all ideal for a kitten. "I'm just glad I can help." This was true. It was her life's mission to help other cats in whatever way, big or small, she could.
She spent a few moments untangling things as she thought about the idea of Kerrigan in situations like this. "Oh, I'm sure she has," she meowed after a moment, "although I highly doubt that she'd like that to be information spread to the clan." She smiled slightly; she could imagine that the Tsar didn't want her reputation tarnished. "Although she was a Devonei dedicate, and we both know they can be a little dry, so maybe not."
