Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
(I'm assuming this would take place before Sunclan left RR for their new home and before Leland stepped down from the Superior position)
Leland Starkfield had spent the last few days observing the Sunclan cats. He found the clan to be interesting. He had heard how they were unique in their customs, but he had noticed over the passing days that the clan had lived with the Regime that many of the members seemed lost. He had overheard from some of the older member that their god had died. Which he could understand how that would be terrifying. He didn't know what the Regime would do if the Blind Protector ceased to exist.
As the smokey grey tabby trekked down the long section of tunnels that led to the area where Sunclan was temporally living. He wondered if he should try to get to know the clan better. It was an opportunity to learn more about the Regime's ally. While the two were living in such close quarters. He didn't know how many of the Sunclan members would be open for that idea, but he did know his previous interactions with the warrior known as Oceaneyes had been civil for the most part. He had also noticed the she-cat seemed to have taken up a leadership roll for the clan while they lacked a High Priestess.
The young Superior approached the nearest Sunclan member an apprentice known as Lifepaw. "Hey can I speak to Oceaneyes for a few moments." He asked.
Lifepaw stood eye to eye with the Superior. While Lifepaw knew his grandmother Littlestar had a strong relationship with the Regime. After everything the clan had been through. The tom wasn't quite trusting of the cats they were sheltering with. With reluctance the apprentice padded off deeper into the tunnel calling out for Oceaneyes, "Hey Oceaneyes there is a Regime Cat here to speak with you."
Oceaneyes lifted her head, letting her blue gaze befall on one of the superiors of the regime. She gave him a slow dip of her head, a sign of respect and thankfulness of their genuine hospitality. The she-cat then looked to Lifepaw, offering a kind smile. "Thank you Lifepaw, if you'll excuse us." She mewed, dismissing the apprentice. She then turned back to the tom, giving him a curious gaze.
"Is there something I can do for you, Superior Leland?" She asked, trying to read the tom's face. He was one of the two second in command for the Regime, one she had seen making the calls for many things around the tunnels. Though, she'd not had many interactions with him. She wondered faintly, why was he wishing to speak to her? Oceaneyes was nothing of importance, not even a deputy even. Simply a cat who wished to make sure that those who remained from her clan were taken care of. Yet.. he came to her?
Questioned floated in her mind as she awaited to see what the high ranking tom could possibly want from a homeless SunClan feline.
Lifepaw stared at the Superior with great distrust. After everything that sunclan had been through. The young tom didn’t quite trust the other group that Sunclan was currently living with, but it was with his sister’s guidance that the clan had shelter over their heads. Lifepaw dipped his head respectfully to the warrior and took his leave. Not without flashing a small glare at Leland first.
Leland watched the young tom walk away from the pair. He noticed the glare, but chose not to say anything. He knew that the Sunclan cats would be on edge and distrustful of the regime. Especially when they currently didn’t have anyone leading them and were homeless. “I came to check and see how things were fairing. It’s been a few days since you and I went out hunting for your clan and the regime.”
Her blue eyes watched the apprentice for a few moments, and waved her tail a little. She had caught the glare, and flicked the tip of her tail on his shoulder. It was merely a motion that seemed to give a little comfort to her clanmate. Then she looked to the tom, and gave a small nod. "Yes, it has been some time." It had, it felt like moons. The days and nights ran together, it was sometimes hard to keep up. Especially being in the dark tunnels for so long. She wondered how these cats seemed to keep up with the days as it was.
"Spirits are still broken, and..." She didn't want to seem depressing. Though SunClan was struggling, the Regime didn't have to. Oceaneyes gave a soft sigh, her claws kneading the dirt. "We are alright, I suppose."
The darkness of the tunnels was something Leland still after all these moons hadn’t gotten use to. He remembered being a little kit dragged through the snow under the cover of night by his grandmother, aunt, uncle as well as his siblings. Coming to the very tunnels he would call home. A place where his family had a birth right and long ingrained history dating back to the Blind Protector as well as the split of Regime Regime and Avalon Everlasting. “I can understand how time seems to run together down here. I’ve come to offer a trip to the surface once more. Hunt for prey, find more bedding for your fellow comrades, and just well feel the warmth of the sun on your fur. If between you and me I’m not the biggest fan of dirt raining down on my head every morning.” The superior offered a small smile.
A slight glimmer appeared in her eyes at the offer. To feel the sun on her coat again? It was something she was truly a bit unable to refuse. Trying not to seem to excited, she gave a small nod to Leland and mewed,"That... sounds like a rather good way to start the day." Oceaneyes accepted gratefully, sending a glance back towards Lifepaw. He'd be fine, she'd come back with bedding, prey maybe, and he'd forget she went off with some Regime cat. "Neither am I.." She murmured jokingly, yet quietly so that the others around them wouldn't hear.
“Alright follow me the tunnels can get rather confusing to navigate.” He meowed swishing his tail for her to follow him. His paws walked the beaten path. Navigating through turns almost blindly through the darkness. Once they were to the surface the superior stopped briefly for a moment for his eyes to adjust to the brightness of the sun.
Oceaneyes followed behind at a slow and weary pace. Though, as she saw the light flitting through the tunnels, her paws quickened slightly. She could feel her heart rate raise, the excitement drove her there. As the two emerged into the sun, there was a mighty large difference between the pair. As he squinted against the sun, she didn't.
Her eyes shone in the light, a dazzling blue, her nose tipping up slightly as she took in the fresh air. It was much better than that of the damp and dark tunnels. The wind tussled her fur, the sun was like a warm fire all over her. It felt more... comfortable at least. It was open, warm, fresh... Oceaneyes seemed to relax even, her shoulders seeming less tense than they had in a while. It was clear that she was never meant to be contained by the earth, she was meant to roam free.
