Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
If you have any questions about this event, please send me a DM !
note although it will take us 10 days to accomplish the plot goals for this thread, everything that happens in this thread takes place over the course of one evening.
the thread will follow the timeline that is provided in the mass message. for the first three days, the thread will be about mingling / maybe sugaring up to some cats to get nominations, etc. On day 4, or June 25, I will unlock the Nominations Thread and users may nominate cats for the titles. Each user is able to nominate ONE CAT PER TITLE. It is strongly encouraged that you also do an in world nomination, but this is not required. It will be open for three days, or until June 28. On June 28, I will make a poll to send out for you all to vote as your characters. You will be able to vote ONCE PER TITLE. On July 1, Foxstar will announce the winners. Things were nearly perfect.
Or, as nearly perfect as they could be. Of course, Foxstar wished that there were cats there that weren't: Sunstar, Rosethorn, Radiantcosmo, all of the other friends he had met along the way whose path in life had diverted from his own. But, for the circumstances, things were near perfect. The SummerClan staff had been working tirelessly all day to make sure that things were perfect. They'd decorated both the beach and the boat, found the boat, worked their tails off to make sure their friends had a good night. In turn, he had done the same. He'd been up since dawn putting together final preparations, and finally, just on time, things were ready. The food, freshly prepared by Foxstar, was gathered in two long aisles on either side of the yacht. In the center was a giant dance floor, one decorated to the nines.
He smiled to himself proudly, before glancing over at the closest lead. "I think we're ready," he announced. SummerClan had slowly started to congregate on the docks and the shore, waiting for the doors to open. "You can let them start coming in! Make sure that we have someone watching the edges of the monster, though. We don't want anyone to fall in, especially the young ones,," he meowed, glancing to Charcoalgoat. As the lead of the denwatchers, the tom had a particularly important job. All of the kittens were invited, which meant that they would all need to keep an eye on them, Charcoalgoat especially. simplylight All it took for Zebrapaw to bust in was hearing the leader's voice. He shouldered past the lead that had been standing guard at the door unapologetically. He was genuinely excited, and he wasn't going to be the last one in. Ant had already beaten him in a race once or twice, and he didn't want that to happen again ! As soon as he got to the deck of the yacht, his eyes widened. This was so cool! Sunrisepaw looked... stunning, really. It wasn't that normally she was ugly, but this evening, she'd pulled out all of the stops. Not a single fur was out of line, and the she-cat had laced flowers throughout her pelt. Her blue eyes beamed as the party's start was announced, glancing over to her sister. "Oh, Middie, this is going to be so fun. By the end of the night, we really will be SummerClan royalty, not that we aren't already," she purred, a wide smile on her face. achromatic

After waiting what seemed like ages for this event to come, it was finally here! Cometpaw raced up the dock and onto the yacht. This was so exciting! He wanted to be one of the first to arrive and look around the boat. Then suddenly he stopped and his tail drooped. There was Sunrisepaw. A sigh escaped from his mouth. He had to admit she was pretty but he knew what lurked underneath all that neatly groomed fur. Except for that one time they talked, he had managed to stay clear of her. He have to do the same again tonight. _____________
Crowflight made his way onto the boat and looked over the edge. He couldn't help but remember the last time he was here at the shore at night. It was when SummerClan had finally been able to throw off their NightClan oppressors. That was a night that was both terrifying and joyful, a time he really never wanted to relive. Thinking of that night made him think of Sunveins. He swiveled his head back and forth to see if he could spot her.

Midnightpaw was groomed sleek, the same as Sunrisepaw, but in a way it was still easy to tell the difference. While Sunrise was all purrs and sultry glances, silks and pearls, enjoying the absolute grandeur of a party, Midnightpaw hated it. She hated how every fur was in place, purposefully messing up a bit of it to stand out from the crowd. "I don't know why we gotta do all of this all the time," she grumbled, "I don't even like crowds that much."
Sunveins was of course, wary about being on the docks. They were perfectly secure, sure, but she found herself walking right at the center of the wooden planks rather than on the edges. She was graceful enough to not fall in, sure, but the she-cat didn't take any chances. In fact, the thought of being on the boat kind of unnerved her, but then again, Foxstar was so excited for the idea, that she couldn't find it in her to talk back, so here she was, tiptoeing around the place warily, hoping that the boat wouldn't rock too much when she finally headed up into it. At the gap between the dock and the boat, she hesitated. Was she really going to do this?
"Because it's fun," Sunrisepaw assured her sister with a slight frown. Was it going to be Midnightpaw's attitude that would ruin the night? That would be a fun twist of events. "Lighten up, would you? Having some fun would be good for you, don't you think?" She genuinely didn't understand her twin sometimes, but it was probably a good thing that their brains worked in such different ways. SummerClan had its paws full with one Midnightpaw and one Sunrisepaw; two of either of the sisters would have been too much. "Maybe you'll get a slow dance," she then encouraged. "Who's that tom you're always spending time with? Baboonpaw? This'll be the perfect opportunity to take things a step further," she then meowed, a grin plastered to her face. achromatic "Don't let her get you down," meowed a cat as he padded up to Cometpaw. "She might be a sight for sore eyes, but she ain't worth whatever trouble it is she's giving you. Take it from me, she-cat's are more effort than they're worth." Finchfrost blinked a few times wish a casual shrug. He almost certainly didn't have the experience necessary to tell him that, he was barely old enough to be a warrior and was SummerClan's resident bachelor, but he said it with such confidence. Every time the plans of the Solstice Festival was mentioned, Dawnflicker had always found a way to interject — that's such an amazing idea, she'd say, buzzing with excitement, and the feeling had only escalated as the date got closer. As Lead Adventurer, she'd helped find and decorate the boat and the beach. Strings of flowers and gorse were placed delicately along the sides, the feast sprinkled with herbs, and she had personally laid a seashell path from the beginning of the docks to the edge of the beach. It was a warm, atmospheric light, the moon reflecting off the gentle waves of the sea, and she found the fear of the water had dissipated. She could appreciate it again.
I think we're ready. Dawnflicker was the nearest guard. She grinned and nodded. Once it was open, she took a place by the exit, ushering in her clanmates with bubbly, excited words — watch your step, come on in, the food's fresh. She could only give a slight laugh as Zebrapaw shouldered his way in, reaching a paw up to fix the now-crooked cornflower she'd tucked behind her ear.
Monsterpaw wasn't a fan of parties, but he was a fan of food, so he trudged along, disgruntled and grumpy, behind his clanmates as they headed to the beach. Admittedly, the boat was cool, big and grand and decorated, and it only got more exciting when he climbed aboard. He eyed Sunrisepaw and Midnightpaw with a distasteful look, scowling as he passed on his way to the feast. He didn't care about festivities, or dancing, or royalty, or whatever it was that was going on. Truthfully, big crowds and parties always made him feel more alone, more awkward. Probably more aggressively than he should have been, he snatched a shrew from one of the feast lines, practically inhaling it before moving onto whatever caught his eye next.
Buttercuphop was one of the last cats to bumble onto the yacht, out of breath due to his journey from the meadows to the beach. Strung around either side of him were makeshift bags, built of large leaves and ferns, holding as many fresh flowers as he could find. On the deck, he looked around, sparkle-eyed, before shaking the look off his face and setting up 'shop' just in front of the dance floor. He placed the bags down beside him, arranging the flowers in neat, colour-coordinated lines, and cleared his throat.
"Flower crowns, get your flower crowns! The price? Free — except you have to vote for me for King!" He spoke loud, clear, dramatically waving his paw over his displays of flowers and to the display crown on his own head, pristinely entwined poppies and pink dahlias, a few sprigs of goldenrod thrown in for an accent colour.
"This is so stupid," Doefreckle muttered, sitting beside Shadedsun on the dock with his shoulders hunched. As if he wasn't looking as beautiful as he ever did; as if he hadn't smoothed his fur to soft, feathery matte and tucked a red hibiscus behind his ear; as if he hadn't made an effort. It was precisely because he had made an effort that he was feeling self-conscious and insecure. He would have liked to win, but he was too shy to ask. Everything looked so beautiful, everyone had their friends, Foxstar had his place — and he hung back, out of practice with social events and feeling nervous. He missed Hywel. "I should've stayed home." He was reached his good paw up and was just about to slip the flower out from behind his ear and throw it into the sea when Peonykit ran past him. "Hey!" he added, immediately switching to his stern dad voice, "don't run by the water. She's such a gremlin," Doe added to Shaded in a quieter voice when it was clear she wasn't listening, the corner of his mouth turning up slightly in a tired, defeated smile and a soft laugh bubbling out. He leaned against him. Sunrisepaw and Midnightpaw were living proof of how dangerous water could be for kits; their dead sibling was final proof. They didn't remember, and he was still too ashamed of how he'd treated Rosethorn to ever approach her nieces, but he had helped carry them the night of SummerClan's insurrection.
"I'm not!" Peonykit replied, while clearly running. "Stop worrying. I wanna go dancing! I wanna see the food! I wanna look at the lights! Have you ever been on a boat? I love boats. I wanna live on a boat." Without waiting for an answer, she squeezed in between Midnightpaw and Sunrisepaw, trying to get ahead of them but trapped by her hips between the two of them and flailing desperately. "Move!" Then she saw Buttercuphop's flower crowns and her eyes widened, a smitten gasp escaping her mouth. "They're so pretty!" she shouted to him, still stuck between the two sisters. "Just hold on one second and then I'm totally gonna get one — I want three, one in purple, one in pink, and another one in pink too, because pink is my favourite colour. Oh! And then I want another pink one for my dad, and another, um— hold on— Dad!" she shouted back over her shoulder.
"What?" Doe called back.
"What's your favourite colour?"
"Uh — what's my favourite colour?" he murmured quietly to Shaded, like he'd never been asked it before. And he hadn't been; no one had ever cared enough to ask. More loudly, he called back, "orange, I think."
Peonykit immediately turned back to Buttercuphop, finally freeing herself from Midnightpaw and Sunrisepaw after thoroughly ruffling their perfect fur and strolling onto the glowing, gently bobbing yacht amid the dark sea like nothing had happened. "And an orange one for my other dad." She beamed up at him.
Brin stalked past everyone, creating such a ripple across the dock that a few cats swayed and almost fell into the ocean. She stopped where the yacht met the wooden planks and turned her head to look at Dawnflicker. For a few seconds she just looked at her, eyes dead. Then, finally, she reached out to reposition the cornflower where the other lead's paw hadn't quite managed it. "Cute," she commented dryly, eyes lingering on hers for a second, and then continued onto the yacht, hopping heavily down the single step. "Move," she told Monsterpaw when she reached the food, immediately sitting to face the dance floor, grabbing a baby gull off the pile, ripping it in half like it was nothing but an apple, and holding the other half out to the apprentice. "Eat slow. You'll get stomach cramps."
She didn't comment on the other apprentice standing directly behind Monsterpaw, staring at the back of his head. It was Clementinepaw. After staring for a few more seconds, she turned back to the spread and immediately swept four or five pieces of freshkill into a little sack she had brought. She'd take it back for her brother; they never trusted the communal freshkill pile. One day it would run out and then they'd go hungry.
"Don't let her get you down," meowed a cat as he padded up to Cometpaw. "She might be a sight for sore eyes, but she ain't worth whatever trouble it is she's giving you. Take it from me, she-cat's are more effort than they're worth." Finchfrost blinked a few times wish a casual shrug. At the gap between the dock and the boat, she hesitated. Was she really going to do this?
The black and white apprentice's head turned quickly to the cat who was addressing him. He had been so absorbed in his thoughts that Finchfrost had startled him but he wasn't going to let him know that.
"That one is at least," Cometpaw replied, his eyes still on Sunrisepaw. Then looking directly at Finchfrost, he asked, "You're a warrior. Tell me this - how can such a good looking she cat be so...so..." He searched for just the right word, "So rotten - just like maggoty crow food - on the inside? She can twist the truth around until it screams and still get cats to believe her version of the truth." He had just recently come off punishment duty in the camp for being unjustly accused by her.

Crowflight saw Sunveins being very cautious about walking up the wooden plank to the boat. He made his way through the crowd to go back to the entrance to help her. He knew very well of her distaste for water - except for drinking it of course. He arrived just when she stopped walking and was staring at the gap. "You can do it," he meowed encouragingly to her. "You jumped farther than this over fallen logs when we ran to the beach with NightClan hot on our tails." He stepped to one side, making room for her to land. " I'm right here to help you."
This is so stupid. Shadedsun only gave a light, quiet laugh from where he sat beside Doefreckle on the dock, fiddling with the pink azaleas he had wound through the fur of his chest and tail — crowns had never been his thing, he much preferred necklaces, but he hadn't been able to make them for a while now, so he settled with the, admittedly, more entertaining option of scattering them through his fur. Gently, he nudged Doe's shoulder with his nose, "yeah, but it's fun-stupid. And if you stayed home, who would I dance with? Certainly not myself." He didn't mention he didn't know how to dance. At the feeling of Peonykit rushing by, he lifted his paw in a moment of surprise, but it faded only a moment later, replaced with another, louder chuckle. He sat up, nodding towards the entrance of the boat and moving to follow her.
At the movement of her grandfather, Petuniakit scurried out from where she had taken a place amongst his tail fluff, fiddling with the flowers there just as he had been with the ones on his chest. "You are!" She shouted after her sister, tumbling after her, though she paused at the entrance of the boat, eyes cast towards the dark, bottomless sea. At the sight, her stomach churned with anxiety, but Peonykit kept moving, so she swallowed it down to follow, and instead of squeezing between Midnightpaw and Sunrisepaw, she stepped around them, turning to give a slightly irritated, mostly apologetic look.
At the question, Shadedsun only shrugged.
Buttercuphop gave a grin to Peonykit, then to Petuniakit as she stepped towards the flowers, eyeing them thoughtfully. He knew who they were, of course — distant family, he'd been prepping a visit to meet them for a while now, but never could find the time. If they were the kits of his half-sibling's adoptive older sister, he wondered what that made him. Thinking about it gave him a headache.
"Why, thank you! Now," he sat up, head still turned downward and paws held out before his eyes like he were measuring Peonykit, "how am I supposed to make crowns small enough to fit you?" He gave a loud, sharp laugh, "just kidding. I can do anything. Watch." Shuffling through his pink flowers, he sided a few, thinner clusters of pink lilac and a couple pink bellflowers, showing them off before leaning down to string them together. In the centre, he placed a single white peony. He held up the finished crown with both paws to show it off and, with a gentleness that certainly did not match his energy, placed it on Peonykit's head.
"Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. I've got to get to the rest of your orders — I know I can do anything, but you're kind of overestimating me here," he laughed, "that's alright. Go show it off, and also tell others to vote for me, Buttercuphop, for King." He turned to Petuniakit, who had been watching the construction of the crown in silent wonderment. "Now what would you like in your crown?" Wordlessly, she pointed to the white lilies and the lavender.
When Brin fixated on Dawnflicker, Dawnflicker only stared back, face twisted awkwardly. She let her rearrange the cornflower, blinking away the tenseness of the moment and giving a nervous giggle, a two-note sound. Cute. Immediately, her face flushed — utterly flustered, slightly embarrassed, partly intimidated — and she nodded mutely before finally forcing something out, "thanks," but it came out more a breath than a word. Clearing her throat, she turned to greet the guest behind Brin, her joyfulness springing back almost instantly, as if nothing had happened at all.
Monsterpaw rolled his eyes at her chiding, pushing the remains of the mouse he had picked up and replacing it with a sandpiper. "Maybe I want stomach cramps, ever think of that, lady?" Suspiciously, he eyed the half of the gull she offered, but eventually gave in and took it, shoving the sandpiper aside for later. He shuffled, moving to lean on his side. "Don't know why it concerns you, anyway," though he still spoke snidely, disrespectfully, his words carried less fire than they had before.

Sunveins laughed lightly as Crowflight came over. "It's not the planks I'm worried about," she snorted, her eyes soft in amusement, "there's just...so many cats around I'm worried we'll get pushed off the dock." Not to mention, boats weren't exactly stable. She had seen many a human upon the lake, flipping over in their little boats. Of course this was a much bigger boat than the ones she had seen capsize, but that didn't make things any less weird for her.
Still, it was embarrassing, how much she hated the sea. Sucking in a deep breath, she ignored the bit that told her not to get on, and finally leaped over and into the boat, landing next to Crowflight with a sheepish smile. "No one saw that, okay?" she joked, knowing that practically everyone knew of her little...phobia.
"It's Buffalopaw," Midnightpaw replied. At the mention of the tom, she immediately corrected her sister with a frown. She didn't know where Buffalopaw was, but she hadn't seen him in a while, which kind of worried her a little bit. It wasn't like him to avoid her, or a party, but she chalked that up to just not being in the right place at the right time. It was...a bit isolating though, considering he was practically the only cat she could call a friend. Midnightpaw had never been good at making friends either.
When Peonykit squeezed past Midnightpaw, she stumbled a couple steps to the side with a scowl. "Watch it, you little runt!" she snapped at the other cat. Why was everyone always in such a hurry? Ugh, her fur was messed up again. "Why are kits literally the most annoying thing possible?" she frowned.
"Oh, right, sorry. I've always gotten all of the weird orphans confused. It's why Ugly over there hates me," she nosed in the direction of Monsterpaw. "I hate him because he's hard on the eyes and was in my spot and he's the most aggravating creature I've ever had the displeasure of being in the same den with, but he hates me because he was too unimportant enough for me to know his name." This was certainly not why Monsterpaw hated her, but Sunrisepaw couldn't think of any other legitimate reason not to like her. She then caught the look in her sister's eye, and she frowned slightly. Something must be wrong. "But hey, Buffalo-schmuffalo. We'll find you someone to hang out with who is at least ten times cooler," she meowed, her tone reassuring as she looked over to her sister. It did concern her that Midnightpaw spent most of the time that she wasn't with Sunrisepaw or Buffalopaw alone. "That's what parties are for, right?"
And then, the kits whirled past. Sunrisepaw let out a frustrated groan. "I did not spend so long on my flower placement for a little scrap to mess it up," she complained in their direction, before giving herself an irritated lick on the shoulder. "I don't know why they even got invited. They're not even old enough to do anything. Stupid Foxstar and his stupid inclusivity." achromatic
Finchfrost grinned at the younger tom. It made him feel good that he was being looked to as an authority, especially because he had very few qualifications to be an authority, other than being a warrior. "You see, how I look at it, it's always the pretty ones that cause the most problems, especially if they grow up with an inflated sense of self-importance," he explained, the grin not leaving his face. "They get it in their head that they're hot stuff, and it makes them feel better about themselves to be the center of attention. Only two ways to deal with cats like that, either make a move- she-cats tend to adapt to their place better when they've got a tom to show them the ropes - or ya stay far, far away. You're right, though. It's a shame, really, the cute ones always got problems." Whitemuzzle Zebrapaw had been making the same bee-line to the food that most of the apprentices seemed to when he noticed Clementinepaw and her sack. A dorky smile plastered onto his face as he saw her stash away the food. It reminded him of Meer (he'd have to remember later to see if his best friend was here, if he was even talking to him yet, Zesty still wasn't sure where the two stood). "Foods always better fresh," he meowed with her with a wink. "I do like the ingenuity, though. I bet you with your brains and my salesmanship, we could sell millions of those packs you've got there. I'm Zebrapaw, my friends call me Zesty." fox

"I didn't see a thing," Crowflight joked, bumping his shoulder companionably against Sunvein's. "Come on, I've been smelling good food ever since I came on board. Let's go see what's here to eat." He felt brotherly toward the medicine cat probably because he had lost so many of his littermates. He wanted somecat, besides his mother, to feel close to.
________________
Cometpaw was impressed with Finchfrost's wise words and nodded his head in agreement. "I think in her case I'll just keep my distance like I've been doing. She's so bad I don't even want to be around her." He glanced over at Sunrisepaw as she talked with her friends. "I hope for her sake, and everyone else's, when she gets older she'll grow up."
He raised his head and sniffed the air. "Something sure smells good. Have you eaten yet?"

Charcoalgoat gave a flick of one chipped ear in response to Foxstar. His eyes were glued on Peonykit as she darted about. Each time she neared the edge his stomach would drop a little. He was just about to open his mouth to say something to her when Doefreckle beat him to it. Petuniakit caught his eye next and he stepped forward a little when she peered over the edge. "Careful, don't want to get eaten by the sea monsters." He huffed, nodding pointedly to the edge of the boat. He could already tell that he was probably going to have to jump in at some point to save some fluff-brained kitten with an overabundance of curiosity. Hopefully it wouldn't be too soon into the festivities. Honestly, if he didn't have the job of playing lifeguard, the dark grey tom wouldn't have even come. Cheeriness wasn't exactly his strong suit. Seeing Peonykit distracted by the flower crowns and Petuniakit following behind her, he relaxed a little. foxgoldcrest
Foxstar let the party ebb and flow naturally for most of the evening, but before too long, it was time for his favorite part of the night. He leapt to the bow of the boat, a smile on his face. He turned around to address the clan, a glimmer in his eyes. "A-hem, is this thing on?" he asked to a pretend microphone. He couldn't help but offer a chuckle, before starting his speech.
"As you all know, the last year has shown SummerClan many great trials and tribulations. This year has pushed us to our breaking point, and we survived. We banded together and demonstrated that although we are kind, we are not weak. Each one of you has made this clan proud, and without the dedicated work you all do, we wouldn't still be here. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank each and every one of you."
"As you all know, in honor of all of the things we have accomplished in the last year, we have decided to elect SummerClan Royalty. These cats were nominated and elected by the clan, and they will reign over the festivities tonight. They will also be awarded a one half-moon reign over SummerClan. Although I will retain the right to have the final say, for the next two weeks, these four cats and their requests are to be met. If you believe one of the four of these cats are abusing this privilege, please do let me know, and I will look into it."
Foxstar wished that he didn't have to put that line in, but, knowing the results, he felt it was best to cover his own tail.
"For king, three candidates were nominated. Doefreckle, Shadedsun, and Buttercuphop, please step forward." He gave the three cats a moment to follow his instruction, before continuing. "The three of you have made yourselves integral players in SummerClan, and you should be proud of your nomination." He then pulled an elaborate golden and blue flower crown from beside him. "For one of you, this crown will be yours."
"We had two nominations for queen for SummerClan. One of them, Shadedsun, is already standing. May the other, Sunveins, please rise." Foxstar couldn't help but smile a little brighter when he mentioned her, his tail flicking back and forth. "Oh, I suppose there was one other. Whoever nominated me, very funny," he then added with a purr. "Shadedsun and Sunveins, you have proven your caringness time and time again. For one of you, this crown will be yours." He pulled a similar golden crown from his side, this time accented with deep purple.
"For our princesses, we received two nominations. Midnightpaw and Sunrisepaw, although the other apprentices may not show it, their willingness to nominate the two of you proves that deep down, they know that the two of you are vital. Crow and Orchid would be proud. For one of you, this will be yours." This crown was made of silver crysanthemums, accented with lavender.
"For princes, we had three nominations. Zebrapaw, Monsterpaw, and Buffalopaw, please step forward. Our most dynamic set of nominations, you each should be proud. Promoted together, and now nominated together. I feel like I'm having some sort of deja vu situation." He let out another laugh, before blinking. "This will be one of yours." Another silver crown, this time with blue accents.
Now that all of the nominations were standing, the tom surveyed the group. "Each of you should be honored to be in this position. The cats of SummerClan have picked you all as cats worth representing them. Remember this, regardless of the results."
He then turned back to SummerClan, his voice louder. "And now, for the moment you all have been waiting for. You all have voted, and you have decided that your king and queen are Doefreckle and Sunveins! Your princess and prince are Sunrisepaw and Buffalopaw! Please step forward and collect your crown!" haha finch and sunrise will have a response later i'm running out of time before going to a u pick farm
Sunrisepaw let out a purr - of course she had won. No matter how annoying the others were, they understood her place at the top. And now, she had a position to prove it. Had she been anyone but Sunrisepaw, she might have felt badly for winning out against her sister. Knowing how happy Midnightpaw seemed to be about coming to this thing at all, though, Sunrisepaw didn't see any reason to hide her elation. Even if her sister was to be jealous, well, she'd get over it eventually. No use trying to protect her feelings. Instead, she puffed her chest in pride, before stepping forward and letting her cousin place the crown on her head. She looked like she was about to make some sort of acceptance speech, but she was cut off by the sound of a frantic voice.
"Foxstar! Foxstar!" the cat meowed as he raced forward. His chests heaved as if he had been running all the way from the other side of the territory, which, of course, he had. "A body has been found on the northern border, with three kittens curled up next to it. She did not have an easy end, sir, and the scent that was around them..." His eyes were widened. "Aspenstar's scent."
For a moment, the leader looked dizzy. Aspenstar? No, no it couldn't be her. Kittens? Murder? His heart skipped a few beats, and he found himself taking a step back. Out of all nights, had it had to be this one? His gaze frantically moved around the clearing, quickly checking to ensure that Sunveins and Cypresspaw were in the crowd. Satisfied that they were, he turned his gaze back to the clan.
"We need to get to SummerClan camp. Charcoalgoat, gather as many warriors as you need to get the kittens back safely. Dawnflicker, escort Sunveins and Cypresspaw back and ensure that they are safe." His gaze held Sunvein's for a moment, offering a silent plead that she'd go without arguing. She was a target, and he would be damned if she was going to get hurt. "Sunrisepaw, Midnightpaw, you two go with them. Make sure you take Eveninglily and your other siblings with you. Anyone related to Ratstar, Devotedcrow, or me needs to get into the medicine den. Dawnflicker, take as many as you need to secure the medicine cat's den."
His gaze slid to Brin. "You're with me. I also need a few volunteers to go with us as well. Adults only, please."
His voice was surprisingly cool as he gave the orders. "And for the rest of you, as soon as you get to camp, prepare for an attack. We do not know what we're getting into, and we must be ready."
They will also be awarded a one half-moon reign over SummerClan. Shadedsun cast an amused look towards Doefreckle, though it edged on puzzled. He wasn't sure it was quite the best idea, given the recent uncertainty, but Foxstar did seem to have thought over any loophole or possible issue with it. He only half-listened, partially uninterested but still entertained. And then his name was called, and he felt a slightly uncomfortable, creeping feeling through his pelt — it was just a silly thing, hardly more than a game, yet he still felt the intense, nervous apprehension that came when leadership in regards to him was brought up. There were many, many things Shadedsun had moved past since he had come back to life, but his utter failure as a leader (which, most would argue was an overestimation, but his self-loathing had always been stronger than any of their words) was one of the last, and he'd only scratched the surface of it. That fear of power still remained, haunted him with indecisiveness and anxiety, even when he had mostly mellowed. Still, with Doefreckle at his side — and Shadedsun stood closer than he probably should have — he stepped forward. He shifted his weight between his paws. It was almost fine — almost — and then his name was called again as queen (really, he ought to have been flattered) and he let out a slightly pained sound, hardly audible at all. To keep himself silent, he took the inside of his cheek in between his teeth, fiddling.
You all have voted, and you have decided that your king and queen are Doefreckle and Sunveins! His whole form almost slumped, and the anxiety faded instantaneously as she shot Doefreckle a slightly mischevious, mostly excited look, gently pushing him forward with a smile that was probably wider than it should have been. "King of Summerclan still reigns after all this time — go get your crown." He gave a deep laugh, stepping back into the crowd to wait for him, careful not to shove. fox
As Sunrisepaw gestured in his direction, Monsterpaw shot her a mean look in return, painfully swallowing his latest bite just so he stick his tongue out at her, paired with a mocking sound. "I can hear you, stupid!" He called, "and I hate you 'cuz you're rude and annoying and the worst!" He turned his head away with a huff, pawing at the remains of his meal. Head still dipped, he looked up at Brin. "You look pretty scary — can you, like, tell her off or something? Or maybe give her something to complain about, I don't know." Mostly, his tone could be read as humorous, though if Brin did take it seriously, he didn't think he would mind.
When Foxstar began his announcements, he hardly turned to look at him, though Monsterpaw's ears twitched in his direction. At the mention of his own name for Prince, he shoved his food away and scrambled up to his paws, giving no extra words to Brin beside him, running over to stand in front of Foxstar. Briefly, he wondered why anyone would ever nominate him for Prince — he was unwaveringly rude, messy, as un-princelike as possible — but he decided not to question it at all. He eyed Sunrisepaw as she, too, was called, and suddenly he didn't want the stupid title any more — surely, Sunrisepaw would win as Princess, and there was no way he wanted to be paired with her in any way, shape, or form. She always seemed to ruin every little thing for him, he noted with a scowl in her direction. Your princess and prince are Sunrisepaw and Buffalopaw! His spiteful look turned puzzled — who even liked Buffalopaw enough to make him Prince? Perhaps that was only jealous, but he chose not to question that, either, because then things got too complicated. Monsterpaw stepped back with a roll of his eyes and wandered back to the feast immediately, sinking back into the spot he had left vacant.
"That was so stupid," he mumbled.
Aspenstar's scent. Dawnflicker snapped her head towards the voice from where she stood, still, at the entrance to the boat, though she had since made her way inside to hang around the actual festivities. Her stomach curled wildly, uncomfortably, and she stepped forward towards Foxstar, furious concern on her face. Nightclan still haunted Summerclan, even after all these moons, whether it was their new leader gallavanting around the place with his cronies or their old leader, Aspenstar, leaving unpleasant gifts of murder on their territory.
Dawnflicker, escort Sunveins and Cypresspaw back and ensure that they are safe. She gave a quick, determined nod, eyes searching until they found the medicine-cats, directing them towards her with her tail even as she hustled in their direction. Cypresspaw met her first, concern alight in her big, cyan eyes, and she ushered him closer, waiting for Sunveins and the rest to join before moving towards the exit. She took the lead in front. She picked out a few Denwatchers out of the crowd of now apprehensive cats, directing them to follow as she slipped through the exit and onto the docks, her party trailing behind her. Occasionally, when she wasn't scrounging the land ahead of her, she tossed worried looks over her shoulder.
"We'll all be alright," she spoke up as she led the way across the beach and up the slope, "just a safety precaution. Nightclan's got a new leader, clearly, so she can't have any power over them. . . or us, I suppose. But. . ." she trailed off with an unsure sound, realizing her rambling probably wasn't lightening the mood. @ian achromatic

Sunveins found herself at ease, following Crowflight to the food, when Foxstar came into view with his announcements. She giggled along with his little joke, only to find her own name mentioned. Nominee? For queen of SummerClan? She felt her ears turn warm; what was all of this about? She glanced at the crowd with a sheepish smile, only to have Foxstar announce her name as the winner. Oh! Her eyes widened into large moons as she looked around at her clanmates, surprise radiating from her wide-mouthed expression.
She felt her cheeks turn warm, as she gave everyone a sheepish smile, almost a little embarrassed of all the attention all of a sudden. She took a teetering step forward, looking to Shadedsun and Doefreckle uncertainly, before shaking out her fur and trotting forward towards Foxstar, when the shouts came forward. An attack. Dead cat. Kits. She drew in a sharp breath, ready to jump into action when Dawnflicker came along.
Wait what? "No," she protested, "they might be hurt! That's a job for a medicine cat, right?" She glanced to Cypresspaw, before turning to Dawnflicker. "You should bring Cypresspaw back, it's dangerous, but someone needs to make sure the kits are okay, right?"
When Sunvein's protested, Foxstar flinched. Maybe he should have expected that that was exactly what the she-cat would have done, been willing to face death and destruction just to make sure that everyone in the situation was okay. Of course that's what she would have done. But, he had been secretly hoping that she would just go along without making a scene. He wanted to protect her, and he couldn't protect her if she was out in the field with him. He didn't know what was out there, and if Aspen was out there... His jaw clenched.
"Please, Sunny," he meowed, his voice just loud enough for only her to hear. "I can bring Uncle Howl with me if I need to. It's not safe. We... we don't know if she's alone, if she's still there... It's too dangerous," he pleaded, although he was still fairly certain his best friend would refuse to listen.

She frowned. "–but..." she started, looking a little disappointed, because how could she let him go on his own, when there was a murderer and injured kits out there? A sigh left her mouth. "You're not going to do anything stupid, are you?" she asked doubtfully, "if you see her, don't you dare get into some fight without backup, okay?"

Charcoalgoat's stomach dropped at the sudden announcement. He did not know Aspenstar well enough to be alarmed at her presence but the thought of three, now motherless, kittens and the senseless murder... It was enough to make him feel sick. "Of course." He nodded to Foxstar's order and waved his tail. "Kits, huddle to me. Any warriors not going with Foxstar, please gather a kitten and lets get them back to camp and to safety as soon as possible. Denwatchers, make sure you have a headcount of each litter and kit at all times."
