Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
imagine the wraith like all these kids in a big trench coat. with a knife. also i didn't know where else to put this don't sue me if it's in the wrong place please
They were once a group of incredibly skilled child mercenaries living under the name of one cat, one legend — The Wraith — to do favours in exchange for goods. Assassinations, heists, anything that would get them anything worth it in return, and all would be split evenly amongst them in the safety of their city alley sanctuary. Nobody saw The Wraith, nobody knew who it was. They lived together, worked together, but their lives seemed entirely separate — their secrecy and distrust grew, as did the infighting — and it was that that made the team fall apart. They went their separate ways, though they each knew they needed the protection of each other, so they sought it elsewhere.
The Wraith disappeared, leaving nothing but whispered legends behind. The members, though, spread to the clans.
His calmness, his gentleness, his thoughtfulness, wouldn’t fare very well in action, which is why he was more than content to sort through their earnings and split it evenly between them. A collector, he’s amazing at gauging the value and age of something, and has a love of anything historical, and this paired with his excellent organisation skills made him a great treasurer. He's diplomatic at heart but not a pleaser — he preaches fairness. In every sense, he’s quiet, yet his wild spirit cannot be quelled. Yes, he’s happy to sort and organise and be stationary, at least for a little while, but there’s always that thirst for adventure, a brave and whimsical spirit. Authority isn’t outright despised, but often he follows his own notions before listening to anyone else, even if it’s against the rules. He’s free-spirited but not chaotic, he isn’t loud or crude or eccentric in it, it’s simply a core part of who he is. He doesn’t revel in turmoil; he’s kind and soft, if not brash. Fiercely independent and stubborn, he trusts his gut and his wit above all else. Sociability doesn’t come easily, and though he isn’t opposed to making friends or allies, it doesn’t exactly come easy to him, and so he’s fine just being on his own. It leaves more time for exploring — he particularly loves overgrown, abandoned twoleg buildings and rivers, to be specific. His confidence is surprisingly high, bordering on vain, even if he’s not entirely rude about it. His boldness is quiet and his spirit is endlessly energetic, even if his attitude is calm. Perhaps it was his need for freedom and control that drove him away from the others so easily.
She takes the natural role of team leader and organizer, making deals and ensuring they’re kept while also spreading the word of the Wraith. At least, she did before she got too controlling, too rash. Now, she’s bitter, uptight, and angry. Though cruel, she’s still loud and bubbly, naturally convincing and charming if her temper isn’t too short (which it quite often tends to be). Her blatant disregard for everyone around her is obvious, but it’s the similar view of herself that she doesn’t make well known, covering it up with overconfidence and scathing remarks, though the way she puts herself into reckless situations speaks a great deal on the subject. Immediately, she comes off as almost warm, but her smile is off, her eyes are cold, her attitude is flippant. She holds grudges for an incredible amount of time. She is skilled at navigating the world around her, at fitting into roles, at survival — she grieves the cruelty in private — and she takes a quiet glee in kicking those who are down because it makes her feel better, just a little, just for a while. Her authoritarian nature and recklessness was a splinter in the old group she worked, lived, with. She struggles to take anyone else into account.
* for a brief time before, her and Nectarinepaw were a thing, but they eventually broke it off due to mutual distaste. Bitter exes.
Their excessive cheerfulness is perhaps the most off-putting thing about them, the overly friendly nature matched with an air of threat. They’re sneaky, a cheshire cat, and often move through the shadows like it’s water, all traits that make them an excellent thief and a great collector for when The Wraith needed more wares. Their all-or-nothing, chaotic, almost viscous attitude has also dubbed them the threat, the one who takes care of scammers or dealbreakers. When something needs to get done, they don’t tend to hold back. They’re quiet, much more than their troublesome nature seems to suggest, and they thrive off chaos and causing problems, mischievous and chronically bored. Fickle and callous, perhaps due to a fear of becoming attached. They keep their secrets close to their chest. A pathological liar, they can’t seem to tell the truth to save a life and love spinning fictional tales of their identity or their past, often to garner sympathy, each more ridiculous than the last. They don’t care if nobody believes them. They’re ambitious, but there’s a deep-seeded need to be liked, respected, and cared about. Truthfully, they’re incredibly emotional but hate showing it, finding it embarrassing. To cover that up, they prey on weakness, drawn to it like a shark to blood, using others’ misfortune to make themselves feel better. After they left The Wraith behind, their violence stopped being physical and has taken on more a mental and verbal thing, as their remarks are cutting. They love arguing for the sake of it, being so persistent even in their wrongness that their opponent usually gives up due to frustration. They wish to fit in somewhere, forget the past, and reinvent themselves. They grow overly attached to things. Their defensive, trouble-making, argumentative attitude led to a distance between them and the rest of their old group.
Nectarinecruor’s sister; a selective mute who only talks to her brother, and even then it’s hardly anything above whispered words in his ear. She is plagued by constant boredom, a lack of morality, and an intense, insatiable curiosity. She’s brave and rash, craving freedom. Anything shiny and interesting is hers for the taking, and there’s not a second thought on if it belongs to someone else. While with The Wraith, she and her brother did most of the physical work, did the jobs that needed to be done, and even before that she was trained in the art — immorality was all she’d ever known, it is no wonder she doesn’t believe there’s a thing wrong with it. Her cruelty isn’t intentional, but it’s second nature, and for the most part she’s usually just doing what she’s told, and if she has to be violent, to be vicious, she may as well enjoy it. Morbidly intrigued by how the world works, she’s developed an obsession with the dark and grotesque, perhaps as a coping mechanism she didn’t know she needed. She’s friendly, open, but off-putting, confused as to why nobody wants to be around her much — she’s excessive, she’s rough and violent. Adventure is her greatest want, and she’s reckless enough to go through with almost anything at all, and there’s an intense competitiveness to her. She doesn’t care for the carnage she leaves behind. First and last, she’s a thrill-seeker and a knowledge hoarder. Despite the fact she can be impulsive, reckless and over the top, she’s a follower, obedient to those she thinks know more and disregarding everyone else. Perhaps it’s the fear of abandonment, of not being useful and being left behind instead, but the ways she goes about things don’t usually work to please others, even if it’s what she intends. Aside from her people-pleasing, her credulity, she has an impish nature, helped all by her striking immaturity, and if she weren’t so callous she would be nothing but innocence.
* they both never knew their father, and their mother simply disappeared one day; the two siblings would scam people at various fight clubs by putting Clementine against Nectarine who would pretend to lose (though she won many fair fights on her own as well).
Clementinewhimsy’s brother, there’s hardly a thing he does without her — he regards himself as her caretaker, the one keeping her safe and happy, and he would do absolutely anything to keep that mirage up. He believes she has a dependence on him due to her youthfulness, but it’s actually the other way around, leading to him being overbearing at times. He put together The Wraith in the first place, taking in those he thought needed a team and a home, speaking of a caring nature that he usually only shows to his sister, even if he doesn’t show it on the outside. Usually, it was him who did most of the dirty work, alongside Clementine. In a similar vein to his sister, he’s vicious and violent, though his cruelty is entirely intentional and understood — though, it isn’t a constant thing. He understands, he’s aware, of the bad things he’s done in order for them to survive, and he makes it a point to keep his sister in the dark of most things. He truly means the best for her, though, and in a way his secrecy destroys him in the process. Pessimistic, sneaky but in a youthful way, he’s an observer, the record-taker, more of a planner than an action-taker but he’s able to mould himself into one just fine. He has a photographic memory, a curse and a blessing. He’s distant, even if he doesn’t mean to be, but he believes it’s necessary, to keep to himself, to keep secrets, to be cold. Trust doesn’t come easily, and he’s very aware of how the world actually works. He goes along with his sister’s escapades with a grin or a laugh, disregarding the things she accidentally destroys or the havoc she causes because at least she’s happy. He can’t bring himself to care about anyone else. Generally, he’s the more intentionally mischievous of the two, he likes tricks and riddles. Introverted, he’s cold in attitude and isn’t too fond of being social with anyone, even if it can be lonely and only works to drive him deeper into his abyss of dependence and darkness. He isn’t afraid to use threats or violence to get what he wants — he’s been doing it all his life, after all — and, being extremely protective of his sister, those who even look strangely in her direction usually disappear within the next couple days. But his paws are always clean; it always seems to be natural, a push off a cliff, a sudden illness, a push into the river. He’s a dangerous force, but only because it’s all he knows what to do and his dependence relies on a lack of change. He’s straight to the point, rude and blunt. Secretly, he’s prone to anxiety and is bitter of happy people or put-together families, and he’s a hopeless dreamer — he wishes the world were kinder, or he were better. He’s a hopeless romantic, but he always loves fleetingly and frivolously and never long enough due to his closed nature. He doesn’t like caring for himself, he doesn’t like needing others to do it for him, and he doesn’t like being vulnerable. Strikingly intelligent, a know-it-all, his disregard and argumentative nature is what caused a rift with The Wraith.
* violence was nothing new to either of them, and Nectarine simply capitalized on it. He established The Wraith as just himself as a side-job to the scamming but it eventually grew. He's also super bitter towards Lemonpaw.
Backstories are literally entirely up to you considering none of them are related (other than Nectarine and Clementine) and they don't actually know much about each other before The Wraith. I gave them all fruit names — call it fate or something idk — but you can choose whatever one they had previously LOL
i've eyed him up for days now and kept telling myself i shouldn't do it bc why do i need another character? the answer is i don't but i love him so i'm taking him.
