faeish Scarletpaw & Puzzlemaker! They will be going to the Nightclan border to talk politics.
Puzzlemaker caught sight of the brown and gray tabby she-cat as she came around the corner and his blue eyes narrowed. He glanced around and saw it was devoid of all life and with a small nod towards himself he approached the other. He had only heard good things about the student and had observed the way she wove her words to perfectly serve her purpose and was intrigued.
In truth he was taking time to speak with all the students, eager to foster their dependence on him, to make sure their views were molding in the way he wished. He did not need blind obedience but he would like to avoid future land mines in these young minds of his. Scarletpaw from the whispers he heard showed promise towards being a skilled negotiator. While she might never be a luminary it would still be best to use her to her best potential.
"Scarletpaw! Just the student I was looking for!" He beamed his large politicians grin and waved his tail to gesture for her to join him as he moved down the hall. "Join me, join me please! I would like to take you on a little trip today, I'll clear your schedule if you have any previously pressing maters; I assure you what I have in mind is essential."
Her mind had been drifting as she strolled aimlessly on her way, trying to remember just what her task had been and deciding that, if she'd forgotten, it must not have been oh so important. She was mid shrug to herself when her thoughts were interrupted by Puzzlemaker, and she painted a cool smile on her face. Scarletpaw straightened up a bit and carefully brought herself up to him, stopping to dip her head in greeting. This could be interesting. "Yes, of course." She meowed simply in response, meeting his gaze and attempting to search behind his eyes for his thoughts, coming up dreadfully short. Oh, well, She thought, unbothered. more will be revealed in time.
He hummed and with a short nod led the way out of the estate, hurrying down the steps and into the lawn. He broke into the trees that loomed all over Moonclan, casting it in perpetual shadow. Letting the swampy marshy areas of the territory flourish, especially with the spring rains but not much could be done for it. "What do you know about Nightclan?" He asked with a casual flourish and a flick of his tail, not even turning behind him to watch. It was a build up to something more after all, a set up into what he truly wanted the trip to be.
Her paws followed in his prints carefully, always being keen on keeping a close eye on things; it typically made the go easier. Curiosity bit at her toes with each step as she wondered what the conversation was to be. Scarletpaw always held interest when there was something to be learned and, more importantly, gained.
What do you know about NightClan? The question came a bit unexpectedly and it caused her to hesitate for just a moment, just a short second, before she had her response. "They are quite violent, from what I've heard," She began, filing through the quippets and conversations she had caught here and there. "They slaughter their own." Scarletpaw had had her own escapade into the territory, briefly, though she wouldn't mention that here. The smell of blood ran thick in the air, fear was rampant, and desperation choked you the closer you are to the camp. Instead of returning an inquiry as to why Puzzlemaker wanted to know what she knew, she simply remained silent, glancing at him expectedly.
He held that silence until they reached closer to the border where he slowed and finally came to a stop looking out into Nightclan, standing in the shadow of Moonclan's trees. "You're correct, Nightclan does had a vicious internal fight." His words were slow as he thought of how best to explain the precarious balance the clan seemed to hold.
"You see it's like the leader Kier, and the deputy Snowblister are on different sides. These sides are rather close in there ideals from what i gather but still different enough that there is public issues. Kiers power base is stable but also amazingly fragile. If the winds change his whole high tower could be knocked to the ground."
"Tell me; if you were Kier how would you run things?"
Curiosity further filled her as Puzzlemaker continued to speak. Just what was his endgoal? Why did he care so much about what she thought? Her cool eyes briefly gazed at him in an attempt to chalk up any clues before falling back to the land in front of her, contemplating his words.
In honesty Scarletpaw had never really considered what she would do if she were Kier, leader of a clan, tyrant over many. It was so interesting now that she was prompted to think of it. "Truly, I could never be Kier. I think his mania tends to ruin things." She thought of the stories she'd heard from prisoners that had come from NightClan, the memories they held of psychotic instances they'd witnessed. "He's not composed enough, and quite unwell in the head, I would say... It will all fall apart quickly. I would be more observant, keep trusted ears close, and keep a level head. You can't make huge decisions on a whim, or because your temper flares in that moment."
