Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Strawkit crept from the little alcove he was often hidden away in by his father, Kier wanting no one to know of his unwanted children. He made it clear to them in his obligatory visits how much he disliked the very existence of them. Nothing more than a means to secure his bloodline and nothing more. Reminded often and frequently they were not the kits he wanted and they could never live up to his expectations. Strawkit more so even than his sisters, the face of insidious memories for his father and never allowed to forget it.
Dodging his fathers scorn, or worse his fathers dismissal for the sake of his own fragile heart. It hurt to see his father walk by him with nary a glance, it hurt to be be forced to hide in the shadows when his fathers visited and watch his sisters crow around his feet. So scared he was of his fathers gaze he barley ever left that little den his sisters and himself called home.
But his sisters were ever encouraging him to make friends, urging him to be bolder, convincing him that if he could just make himself more then Kier would look at him and see Strawkit instead of some aching memories.
"You're rarely out." It was a simple observation, a stating of facts, but as always it sounded in a strange coo, an odd double meaning to his words. From nearby sat the black and white shape of Centurykit, who lingered quietly from where he was situated in an off-of-the-center part of the cavern that was enough to make him seem slightly out of place, and if you weren't perpared, perhaps a bit unsetteling. But his little white mouth was turned up in a soft piqued half-smile that seemed warm enough to contrast it, almost inviting.
"But it's good to see you about for once." The words themselves were warm enough, perhaps even, by its own smoothness and straightforwardness, slightly charming. But there was something hollow to it, and as his eyes looked the other kit up and down, it was almost cold in how sharp and calculated it was; as if he was trying to read some secret about the tom by analyzing everything about him.
Something in Centurykit's look reminded Strawkit of Kier, something in those eyes reminiscent of the boogeyman his father was to him. Instead of turning him off it instead pulled him a little closer, a few more steps towards the other kit and his jokers smile. Because while his gaze was like Kier the words were never something his father would say so convincingly.
"Yes, it's quiet today," was his response, the only explanation he would give for his rare venture out of the little cove they were hidden away in. He could explain his sisters were no were to be found, could explain that it was to quiet with only his thoughts. But he didn't want to turn Centurykit off with his own weaknesses. "What are you doing?" Awkward but sincere he fidgeted on his paws as he looked at the other kit optimistically hopeful.
His ears perked, as if just the fact the other kit had taken a few steps closer was a thing of note, and silently, quietly, he tapped his tail on the ground right next to him. It was a meager little gesture, one so small and quick and given so little attention that it could have been seen as meaningless and undelibrate if is wasn't for the way Centurykit's gaze fell on Strawkit and then to the spot beside him; making it just clear enough that it was a tacit gesture for the tom to sit down next him.
"It is." He agreed, his voice sounding sympathetic; without saying a single word his tone acknowledging that something had to be different, something odd had to have happened to draw him out; but Strawkit didn't delve into it, and Centurykit seemed content to not draw it out. "But I wasn't doing anything interesting, just daydreaming." He said, his words followed by a soft laugh that seemed more aimed at himself than anything, almost gently chiding. "I get lost in my head a lot. Sorry if that disapoints, we can always find something actually interesting to do — if you'd like." The offer was gentle, said so naturally that one could have believed it wasn't even an offer at all, just words to some company he knew would come along. Perhaps he did know the other kit would, perhaps he had already staked all his bets on it.
