Chaicrisp stared up at the sky, counting the stars in hopes she would get drowsy. Sleep had been hard to come by recently. It seemed like each night her mind grew more busy. She let out a sigh and rested her head on her paws. It was probably going to be another long night…
Every time that Acorncharm found that she ever cared about someone, either romantically or not, it seemed like she was only setting them up for tragedy. The majority of her family is now gone; Melondrop, her first friend and crush, was dead; and now... Rivergale was gone. Once again, it had taken her too long to realize her feelings, and now everyone had left her all alone. It wasn't a surprise anymore that sleep rarely came to her again.
The grey tabby shifted for the umpteenth time, her gaze flickering over her denmates as she sent a silent wish that her restlessness wouldn't wake them. She was just about to close her eyes again when a small glint of light caught her attention, and she turned her gaze to meet Chaicrisp's. Silently, Acorncharm tilted her head to the side, a small panic settling in her gut. Did she accidentally wake her denmate?
