Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Hawkcreek's ears flicked up in surprise as his name was called. Him, a mentor, now? It was unexpected, but he was pleased. He wove over to touch noses with his new apprentice, but waited until after the ceremony to speak with him.
"Congratulations, Crimsonpaw," he purred then, with a wide smile for the young tom. "You can go catch up with your siblings if you need to, but make it quick. We'll start training soon." After relaying these instructions, the warrior pulled himself away, mingling briefly with a few of the other cats before heading for the entrance to sit beside it and wait.

This day was a long time coming for Crimsonpaw, a lifetime for him actually. And Hawkcreek was chosen to be his mentor too! He knew he'd be taught by one of the best. "Thanks!" Crimsonpaw purred happily. He loved the sound of his new name. "I'll be right back! I can't wait to start training!" He flew off in an excited rush to greet his friends and to congratulate some of them for their promotions. It wasn't long before he appeared at the entrance. "I'm ready! What are we gonna do first?"
Hawkcreek smiled at the young tom's enthusiasm. Had he ever been like that? Probably; he could just imagine Cubbone chasing him around on the day of their apprentice ceremony, all puffed up with pride, as their mother stood over them. It felt like it had been so long ago. He curled his tail over his paws as he sat and waited, but when the apprentice rejoined them, he turned and led the way out of camp before he answered. "Nothing too extreme. Let's go visit one of the borders, and I'll teach you how to react if you see someone crossing it," he suggested.

"Great!" Crimsonpaw exclaimed. He was actually going to see some of SummerClan's territory and even a glimpse of bordering clan's land. Now this is what he waited so long to do! He sprang to his feet and gave a little hop. "I'm ready!" He secretly hoped they'd come across some other cat. Now that would be extra exciting!
The brown-and-white tabby couldn't help smiling as he led him out. He loved young cats; their pure excitement pushed his other worries to the recesses of his mind. He led the young tom out of camp and toward the border. "Are you excited to be a 'paw? The older apprentices will make you a nest in your new den for today, but after that you'll have to make your own."

"You bet I'm excited!" Crimsonpaw meowed, his eyes dancing with delight. "But I won't mind having to make my nest in the future. I helped make nests in the nursery when the apprentices brought in new moss. I got to push out the old bedding!" He didn't realize that removing the old bedding was the cats' least favorite part of that chore because it was usually old and smelly. The apprentices had used his eagerness to help by giving him that odious job.
His whiskers twitched in amusement. "Good! Then maybe you won't mind helping out with the elders, either. That's one of your jobs as an apprentice and it's a very important one." It had been Hawkcreek's least favorite as an apprentice, and he suspected most cats would agree. He didn't mind the elder's stories or support, but the work itself was dirty and not much fun.

"Oh I like Endlessthunder!" he meowed. "He's kind of quiet but he does tell good stories." Being new, Crimsonpaw was unaware of the tediousness of the tasks apprentices perform for the elders. He only though of the elders den as being a fun place to visit. He ran ahead of Hawkcreek then realized what he had done. "Sorry," he said as he waited for him to catch up. "What border are we going to?
(Did you change your mind and decide to keep Hawkcreek? I had requested a mentor change because I saw you were deleting him on the last AC. Nothing has been changed yet, however.)
